You have no idea if it is ready to burst. If you push on an abscess that is not ready to open up, it will force it to open up and it can open under the skin. Spreading the infection, possibly in the blood..

Then you would gently squeeze on the outsides of the abscess to direct to the cut spot. You can do serious harm if a soft spot is on the inside. You don't know what this person knows about them. And abscess in the mouth could hold all sorts of really nasty bacteria as well.
