Progression of humanity. Why all the suffering of the past to get to this point, though? This is where I have to step back and think perhaps this is more of a "individual basis" type of change in humanity. In that sense, God takes on a different meaning, too. For the heavily institutionalized in doctrines of the faith, that's a really scary place. For those looking for a greater explanation, it become a matter of "what to discard, and what to keep"; with the filter being that which you can know and prove.
Cast anxiety and fear aside, and seek truth/light. The "scary" you are experiencing is the realization you are discovering truth instead of narratives all around you. Explore, and be grateful. Use discernment, and understand that it takes a lot of practice. Trust yourself, and trust the truth.
