President Biden’s presumptive Ambassador to China – Nick Burns – is a former adviser to a consulting firm employing Chinese Communist Party officials, a board member of a Harvard University program collaborating with China’s military, and a contributor to Chinese state-run media outlets.

While corporate news media outlets refer to Burns as a “career diplomat,” he is in fact more like a career Chinese Communist Party apparatchik, The National Pulse can exclusively reveal.

Prior to joining Team Biden, Burns served as a Senior Counselor at the Cohen Group, a consulting firm founded by Bill Clinton-era Defense Secretary Bill Cohen. The Cohen Group works closely with former Chinese Communist Party officials many consultants are active in various D.C.-based China lobbying groups. What’s more, the group has participated in an advisory program working with an entity sanctioned by President Trump for human rights abuses against Uyghurs in Xinjiang.

The former member of Bill Clinton and George W. Bush’s State Department also serves on the Board of Harvard’s Belfer Center, which routinely conducts cybersecurity events alongside Chinese Communist Party military officials and has appeared on China Global Television Network (CGTN).

“We can’t see them as the enemy because we need them,” Burns remarked in reference to China at a 2020 Aspen Institute event.

The Cohen Group’s China Practice claims to facilitate “constructive engagement and cooperation between leading multinational companies and Chinese enterprises around the world” as well as “support Chinese companies engaged in high-quality investments overseas.”

To do so, the Cohen Group has retained two China-based offices in Beijing and Tianjin for over a decade and employs former Chinese Communist Party officials.

The group’s Beijing Deputy Chief Representative, Xiaorong Wu, led the Chinese Communist Party’s “era of sovereignty” campaign as a former official in the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs “where he participated in Sino-UK negotiation on the transfer of sovereignty over Hong Kong to China.”

Another Chief Representative, Yinghua Wang, joined the group in 2007 after years of serving the Chinese Communist Party’s Tianjin Municipal Government. As an official, Mr. Wang “frequently hosted meetings with foreign officials in order to foster stronger political and economic ties between Tianjin and state governments in the United States.”

Over 10,000 Deaths Caused by COVID Vaccines Reported by the CDC and EMA

More than 10,000 people died shortly after COVID-19 vaccination in December, US and European authorities said. Deaths include more than 7,100 in Europe, according to the European Medicines Agency (EMA), and 3,005 reported by the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC), LifeSiteNewsreports.

As of Tuesday, EudraVigilance, the EMA’s database of adverse drug reports, reported 4,036 “fatal results” after vaccination with Pfizer, as well as 1,922 and 1,234 deaths after vaccines given by Moderna and , by AstraZeneca.

EudraVigilance also reported 20 deaths from the COVID-19 vaccine developed by Johnson & Johnson. The database revealed more than 200,000 injuries, possibly related to the four vaccines, of which tens of thousands of cases considered “serious”. The US government also reported 3,005 deaths and more than 56,869 side effects after the April 12 coronavirus vaccinations.

The injuries in the United States are being tracked by VAERS, a surveillance system overseen by the CDC and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Among the adverse reaction reports for the COVID-19 vaccine published by VAERS, 42% of deaths occurred in people who became ill within 48 hours of inoculation. “Vaccination campaigns, apparently, often take place in nursing homes without ensuring in advance that the person affected has not already contracted an infection,” said Dr. Frank Gunter, a German medical expert, who indicated the“ insufficiently researched long-term consequences ”of vaccines.

“I have never seen such a large number of side effects of a vaccine,” said Parisian infectious disease specialist Prof. Eric Caumes last year. “No, really, it’s too much, maybe there’s a problem,” he told Le Parisien. DOJ Is Reportedly Investigating Ex-Trump Official Who Debunked The Russia Collusion Narrative

Kash Patel, the former GOP congressional aide who uncovered the FBI’s surveillance abuse against the Trump campaign, is the target of a federal leak investigation, according to a report from The Washington Post.

David Ignatius, a columnist for the Post, reported Friday that two sources familiar with the probe said that Patel is being investigated for unauthorized disclosures of classified information.

The investigation was sparked by a complaint made by an intelligence agency, according to Ignatius.

By his own admission, Patel has ruffled feathers in the intelligence community, FBI and Justice Department due to his aggressive efforts to unlock details of the counterintelligence investigation against the 2016 Trump campaign.

Patel served as an investigator for Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee before joining the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) and the Defense Department during the Trump administration.

While working on Capitol Hill, Patel played a central role in the investigation that uncovered details about the infamous Steele dossier, as well as the FBI’s use of Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrants against former Trump campaign aide Carter Page.

At ODNI, Patel helped push through the declassification of a trove of documents related to the dossier and the FISA warrants which have proved embarrassing for the FBI.

Patel did not respond to a request for comment about the Post report. But one of Patel’s former colleagues speculated that if he is under investigation, it is likely because of his role debunking the narrative that the Trump campaign colluded with Russia.

“Kash embarrassed intelligence officials by getting documents declassified showing the Russia collusion investigation was a fraud,” the former Patel colleague told The Daily Caller News Foundation.

“Now they’re getting payback and making an example out of him.”

French Police Instructed to Bend Lockdown Rules for Muslims During Ramadan: Report

Police and gendarmes in the French department of Tarn have reportedly been instructed to not give out warnings or fines to Muslims breaking Wuhan coronavirus curfew during Ramadan.

Officers have allegedly been instructed by the Tarn prefecture not to hand out warnings or fines to Muslims who travelling until 10 p.m. at night and from 5 a.m. in the morning as they go for prayers.

Currently, mainland France is under a curfew from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., according to the French government website, which lists several exemptions such as work or walking a pet within one kilometre of a residence — but does not list any specific religious exemptions.

According to a report from the newspaper Le Journal d’Ici, police officials in Tarn were informed earlier this week by internal email that “practitioners are authorized by the prefecture to dispense alms (resulting in the delivery of food to friends, families…).”

The internal emails also noted that the breaking of Ramadan fast in the evening ” is potentially likely to generate gatherings on public roads or in the vicinity of mosques.”

Local police spoke with the newspaper expressing concern with the move, with one officer saying he did not know how to really prove those on the street were Muslim, Jewish, or Christian.

“It doesn’t tell us what we need to do in practice if we come across a grouping greater than the authorized gauge of six people, during the curfew. Should we close our eyes? As usual, this inaccuracy forces us to interpret as best we can,” one officer said.

New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham, a Democrat, has paid out at least $62.5K to a male staffer who accused her of an alleged sexual assault, by grabbing his crotch and laughing at him.

Campaign finance documents filed on Monday revealed that Governor Lujan Grisham’s campaign paid the money in various installments to a law firm on behalf of James Hallinan, a staffer who had previously worked for Lujan Grisham, a Democrat, during her campaign to take the New Mexico governorship back in 2018. The payments have been provided in five monthly installments of $12,500, from November last year to March, listed as “legal expenses.” It is not clear if there are any more payments to come.

Around a year after he left Lujan Grisham’s campaign, Hallinan claimed on Twitter that Lujan Grisham had sexually assaulted him. He alleged that the then-congresswoman had poured a bottle of water on his crotch, and then grabbed his genitals in front of other staffers who were watching the situation unfold, and then proceeded to laugh at him.

“A governor… is not above the law for her sexual and physical abuse of employees including (me!!!) I’ll talk more when I return to the country,” Hallinan tweeted. He also alleged that Dominic Gabello, the then campaign manager for Lujan Grisham, who now work as a senior advisor in the New Mexico Governor’s office, had tried to talk him out of reporting the incident when it happened at the time.

Jared Leopold, the campaign spokesman for Lujan Grisham, said in a written statement to the Albuquerque Journal that the payments were part of a settlement, which resolved “numerous dubious and disputed potential claims made by Mr. Hallinan arising from his employment in 2018 with the campaign organization and his subsequent search for employment.”

All parties accused “strenuously deny that there is any merit or truth to Mr. Hallinan’s claims, including his claims about difficulty finding or keeping work after the campaign,” Leopold continued in the statement. “They reached a settlement in order to avoid the continuing distraction and significant expense of possible litigation and allow them to concentrate on working for the people of New Mexico during this pandemic,” he concluded.

Rachel Berlin Benjamin, an attorney for the Buckley Beal law firm that received the payments and represents Hallinan said that he and the Governor have “resolved any differences or issues to their satisfaction,” and that she was not able to provide any further details.

SNP Pledges to Introduce BLM-Style ‘Anti-Racist Education’ to Confront ‘UK’s Colonial History

The ruling left-separatist party in Scotland has vowed to introduce “anti-racist education” in order to confront the “UK’s colonial history”.

The election manifesto from the Scottish National Party (SNP), dubbed “Scotland’s Future“, said that the Black Lives Matter movement has inspired the party to mandate that schools teach Marxist-style attacks on British history to their pupils.

“The Black Lives Matter movement has shone a powerful spotlight on continuing racial injustice and race-based violence, and the need for countries to face their colonial history,” said the manifesto for the party, which runs the British home nation’s devolved government — roughly equivalent to a state government in the United States.

“We will create a new programme of anti-racist education in schools, including support for teachers’ professional development, allowing every school to access high-quality anti-racist education. To track progress, we will improve the reporting and publication of data on racist incidents in schools,” the SNP continued.

The woke manifesto also called for “LGBT history, role models and equalities education” to be taught in Scottish schools as a bulwark against “homophobic, biphobic, and transphobic bullying”.

Responding to the leftist education agenda being pushed by the SNP, a professor of education policy at the University of Edinburgh, Lindsay Paterson, told The Telegraph that racism has already been featured in the curriculum since the 1980s.

“The important point is that teachers are very experienced in teaching contentious issues in a balanced way. It’s unfortunate when politicians don’t recognise the good work that has been done, including the work that has found a way of dealing with controversial issues objectively,” Professor Paterson said.

“Politicians are better to leave this kind of topic to teachers, who know very well how to handle controversy sensitively,” the academic claimed.

Joe Biden Overrules Staff Plan, Raises Refugee Inflow

Pro-migration Democrats and business allies got President Joe Biden to quickly overrule a Friday announcement by his top staff that would have capped the 2021 inflow of refugees at 15,000.

“The President’s directive today has been the subject of some confusion,” White House press secretary Jen Psaki said in an afternoon statement. “We expect the President to set a final, increased refugee cap for the remainder of this fiscal year by May 15,” she added.

The Psaki announcement came a few hours after Jake Sullivan, Biden’s National Security Advisor, tweeted:

America needs to rebuild our refugee resettlement program. We will use all 15,000 slots under the new Determination and work with Congress on increasing admissions and building back to the numbers to which we’ve committed.

The scale of the reversal may not be known until May 15, when the final 2021 number is scheduled for release. But pro-migration groups are hoping that Biden will announce a 2021 goal of importing several tens-of-thousands of refugees before October, up from the 15,000 scheduled by former President Donald Trump.

Late Friday, White House officials held a call with refugee advocates, during which deputy national security adviser Jon Finer said the cap would likely be lifted well before May 15, according to two people on the call. Finer also said that the administration would try to resettle refugees as soon as possible, rather than spreading out the admissions until Sept. 30, the people said. White House officials plan to hold another meeting with advocates next week, people with knowledge of the plans said.

Biden’s afternoon reversal came after a furious backlash by pro-migration advocates, including senior Democrats, far-left advocates, and business groups.

The morning statement setting the 15,000 level was slammed by Democrats, including Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA), Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ), and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY). “This is unacceptable,” said Sen. Dick Durbin, (D-IL), the second-ranking Democrat Senator.

New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy (D) is fighting gun crime in his state by calling for a database of ammunition purchasers and banning .50 caliber rifles.

ABC7 notes that Murphy also wants to require “gun safety training” as part of the process for obtaining a firearm ID card, enact gun storage obligations, mandate registration of out-of-state firearms, and relaunch the “smart gun commission” and a microstamping requirement, among other things.

Murphy’s ideas are already enacted–and failing–in other states.

For example, California already has ammunition gun control, yet South Los Angeles witnessed a 742 percent spike in shooting victims during the first 16 days alone of 2021. California also has a microstamping requirement and firearm registration.

Leading politicians from both parties similarly used this emotional storyline to advance multiple agendas.

The story appeared — coincidentally or otherwise — just weeks after President Trump announced his plan to withdraw all troops from Afghanistan by the end of 2020. Pro-war members of Congress from both parties and liberal hawks in corporate media spent weeks weaponizing this story to accuse Trump of appeasing Putin by leaving Afghanistan and being too scared to punish the Kremlin. Cable outlets and the op-ed pages of The New York Times and Washington Post endlessly discussed the grave implications of this Russian treachery and debated which severe retaliation was needed. “This is as bad as it gets,” said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Then-candidate Joe Biden said Trump's refusal to punish Russia and his casting doubt on the truth of the story was more proof that Trump's “entire presidency has been a gift to Putin,” while Sen. Grand Jury Indicts School Board Members For Alleged Secret Discussions About Racial Agenda

Two Texas school board members were indicted on charges that they violated the Open Meetings Act as they discussed a racial agenda that was widely opposed by their constituents.

Carroll Independent School District (CISD) president Michelle Moore and vice president Todd Carlton were indicted by a grand jury for texts involving the school district’s “Cultural Competence Action Plan,” The Texan reported.

The board is required to meet in public, but the texts allegedly involved enough school board members that it may have amounted to a secret, unofficial meeting under the law.

In December, a judge separately instituted a restraining order prohibiting the school officials from moving forward with work related to a District Diversity Council, which in August issued a 34-page plan that included a proposal for racial training in schools that would cost $425,000 the first year, including $35,000 for speakers.

The fact that educators in two different states have been caught secretly plotting to implement Critical Race Training in the same week should ring every parental alarm bell that exists.

Facebook Executive Told Whistleblower “State Sponsored Disinformation” Is Job Security

A Facebook executive is now on record telling a whistleblower that “state-sponsored” (government-funded) disinformation meant that she had job security. Facebook allowed authoritarian governments (including the United States) to use the platform to generate fake support for their regimes for months despite warnings from employees about the disinformation campaigns.

An investigation from The Guardian revealed this week that Facebook has helped keep governments intact, and the slavery of humanity ongoing. According to a report by Business Insider, a loophole in Facebook’s policies allowed government officials around the world to create unlimited amounts of fake “pages” which, unlike user profiles, don’t have to correspond to an actual person — but could still like, comment on, react to, and share content.

British Columbia: One Dead, Three Neurologically Disabled, ‘Numerous’ Reactions from Vaccine in Tiny Indigenous Village

A doctor asked the British Columbia provincial health officer, ‘Is this normal?’

One patient died, two suffered anaphylactic reactions, three have ongoing disabling dizziness, muscle weakness, and chronic pain, and “numerous” patients developed allergic reactions after they received a first dose of Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine given to 900 mostly Indigenous people, according to a local doctor who works in the tiny Fraser Valley village of Lytton, British Columbia.

“I have been quite alarmed at the high rate of serious side effects from this novel treatment,” family doctor Charles Hoffe wrote in an April 5 letter to British Columbia Provincial Health Officer Bonnie Henry.

A 72-year-old patient with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) but no underlying cardiovascular disease complained of being continually more short of breath after receiving a first dose of Moderna’s experimental COVID vaccine, and 24 days after the injection, died “very suddenly and unexpectedly,” the letter said.

Three of Hoffe’s patients have “ongoing and disabling neurological deficits,” including continuing “disabling dizziness,” “neuromuscular weakness, with or without sensory loss” and “chronic pain,” with or without headaches. These ailments persisted for 10 weeks after their shots of the Moderna’s vaccine.

“It must be emphasized, that these people were not sick people, being treated for some devastating disease,” Hoffe wrote. “These were previously healthy people, who were offered an experimental therapy, with unknown long-term side effects, to protect them against an illness that has the same mortality rate as the flu. Sadly, their lives have now been ruined.”

Hoffe said two patients had anaphylactic reactions – life-threatening allergic reactions that can cause swelling of the throat, hives internally and externally, and dangerously low blood pressure – to the Moderna vaccine and “numerous” others have had milder allergic reactions.

Lytton is a village municipality with a population of 249 at last count in 2016, with another 1,700 living in the vicinity and on reserves of the neighboring six Nlaka’pamux communities. Hoffe is one of three doctors who works at the Lytton Medical Clinic and at St. Bartholomew’s Emergency Department.

“Are these considered normal and acceptable long-term side effects for gene modification therapy?” Hoffe asked the provincial health officer.

“Do you have any idea what disease processes may have been initiated, to be producing these ongoing neurological symptoms,” the doctor asked in his letter to the government health officer.

To date, the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports 2,342 deaths, including 1,170 linked to Moderna’s vaccine. There are 304 reported anaphylactic shock events with Moderna’s vaccine.

A total of 941 permanent disabilities after COVID vaccination have been reported to VAERS, including 450 after Moderna shots.

Reports from VAERS include a 35-year-old Oklahoma man who developed nerve pain in both legs four hours after an injection of the first dose of Moderna vaccine and became progressively paralyzed and was diagnosed with Guillain Barre Syndrome five days after the shot.

A 33-year-old woman from Nevada’s report said her breathing became difficult within three hours of receiving a shot of Moderna’s vaccine in January and she experienced paralysis, was hospitalized for five days, and is still unable to use her left arm three months later.

Czech Republic to expel 18 Russian diplomats, сiting claim that ‘intel officers involved in 2014 munitions depot explosion’

The Czech Republic says it will expel 18 Russian diplomats, alleging that Russian intelligence officers were involved in a local munitions depot blast in 2014. It comes a day after Moscow said it would expel 10 US diplomats.

The move by Prague came amid a diplomatic standoff between Moscow and Washington that began midweek, after US President Joe Biden ordered 10 Russian diplomats out of the country over the Kremlin’s alleged interference in the 2020 presidential election and its claimed involvement in last year’s SolarWinds cyber-espionage case. More than 30 Russian individuals and organizations were also sanctioned, while American companies were banned from directly buying shares in Russia’s national debt.

Moscow delivered a tit-for-tat response on Friday, with Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stating that 10 American diplomats would be expelled from Russia, and promising measures that would bar US funds and NGOs from interfering in its internal affairs.

Prime Minister Andrej Babis and Foreign Minister Jan Hamacek announced the expulsion at a joint press conference in the country’s capital.

Babis said the move was a response to the alleged involvement of Russian intelligence officers in arms depot explosions in the Czech Republic seven years ago.

“We are keeping our partners from the European Union and NATO informed and ask for their support,” Hamacek added. He has canceled his planned trip to Moscow, where he was to have discussed the possible purchase of Russia’s Sputnik V Covid-19 vaccine.

President Milos Zeman, who is known as a strong supporter of better ties between Prague and Moscow, had already been informed of the expulsions, the two officials said.

Colleges Nationwide Mandate COVID Vaccine for Returning Students

Universities are announcing that they will require the COVID-19 vaccine for returning students.

“More than 90 million U.S. residents have safely received one or more doses of a currently approved COVID-19 vaccine,” explained Cornell University President Martha Pollack in a statement, “and recent data indicate that these vaccines not only protect those inoculated from serious infection, but also are protective for asymptomatic infection and the risk of transmission of virus to others.”

Therefore, Cornell “intends to require vaccination for students” returning to one of its campuses in the fall.

“Medical and religious exemptions will be accommodated, but the expectation will be that our campuses and classrooms will overwhelmingly consist of vaccinated individuals, greatly reducing the risk of infection for all,” continued Pollack.

The school also unveiled a “COVID-19 Proof of Vaccination” tool — a form that all students, faculty, and staff will be required to complete beginning on April 15.

Brown University will likewise mandate “COVID-19 vaccines for all undergraduate, graduate and medical students who will engage in in-person instruction.” Exemptions “will be granted to students, and reasonable accommodations will be provided as determined by applicable law.”

The university is working to determine whether vaccination should be a requirement for Brown employees as well.

In contrast, a spokesperson for Columbia University — another Ivy League school — told Campus Reform it is “strongly recommending, but not mandating” vaccination for eligible persons.

Rutgers President Jonathan Holloway, pointing out that the vaccine will be available to all Americans by the end of May, said that “adding COVID-19 vaccination to our student immunization requirements will help provide a safer and more robust college experience for our students.”

Northeastern University also announced that all students “will be expected to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by the first day of classes.” Students are permitted to “request religious and medical exemptions to the policy.”

In the fall of 2020, universities across the United States began implementing flu vaccine requirements as part of efforts to fight COVID-19.

Republicans who backed Trump impeachment see fundraising boost

The majority of House Republicans who voted to impeach former President Trump in January saw fundraising gains in the first three months of the year despite intense backlash from members of their own party, according to new financial disclosures.

Most of the Republicans who publicly went against Trump after the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol saw their 2021 first quarter hauls increase from their 2019 hauls during the same period. Two of Trump’s most high-profile critics in the House received a major financial boost in particular: House GOP Conference Chairwoman Liz Cheney (Wyo.) raised $1.5 million at the start of 2021 compared to $321,000 during the same period in 2019, while Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) brought in $1.2 million during the first three months of the year compared to $326,000 in 2019.

The fundraising hauls come amid a growing divide within the party, as Trump and his allies threaten to support primary challengers against those who voted to impeach him — some of whom are also raking in money.

“It still means they’ll have serious races where they’ll have to work hard to beat back a challenge, but the funding will be there for them,” said GOP strategist Doug Heye of the Trump critics raking in cash.

Ten House Republicans voted to impeach the former president for his role in inciting the Capitol riot on Jan. 6, which came after Trump repeatedly sought to cast doubt on the results of President Biden’s victory in the general election. Thought the trial ultimately didn’t end in conviction, seven Republican senators crossed the aisle to join their Democratic colleagues, making it the most bipartisan impeachment vote in American history.

Trump has vowed to take down Republicans who supported his impeachment, and recently blasted Cheney as well as Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), who voted to convict. Both of them are up for reelection in 2022.

"Senator Lisa Murkowski said she is 'still weighing whether she will run again' for the Senate in Alaska. In other words, there is a chance that she won’t run! Wouldn’t that be great?" Trump said in his statement.

He also took aim at Cheney, mocking her for being “so far down in Wyoming polls that the only way she can win is numerous candidates running against her and splitting the vote.”

Yet Cheney has easily outraised her primary challengers, as has Kinzinger.

Cheney’s two primary challengers raised a collective $509,000, while Kinzinger’s challenger Catalina Lauf brought in roughly $163,000 during the period.

Other Republicans who supported Trump’s impeachment have also seen a massive cash windfall.

Rep. Tom Rice (R-S.C.), arguably the most surprising impeachment vote in January, raised $405,000 in the first three months of the year, up from his 2019 first quarter total of $151,150.

Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler (R-Wash.) raised $745,000 during the first quarter of the year, up from 2019’s first quarter total of $287,000. Rep. Anthony Gonzalez (R-Ohio) raised $616,000 this quarter, compared to $210,000 during the same period in 2019.

Rocket fired into Israel from Gaza for 2nd night in a row; IDF hits Hamas sites

Projectile sets off warning sirens in pair of border communities, is said to hit open area; no reports of injuries or damage

Palestinian terrorists in the Gaza Strip on Friday evening fired a rocket toward Israel, the Israeli military said.

Media reports indicated the rocket landed in Israeli territory, but in an uninhabited area. There were no reports of injuries or damage.

The rocket triggered warning sirens in the southern Gaza border communities of Holit and Sde Avraham, hours after the start of Shabbat.

In response, Israeli aircraft hit a series of Hamas targets in Gaza, the IDF said. It also issued a video of some of the strikes.

Among the targets bombed included a Hamas training camp, an anti-aircraft position that was being constructed and a factory producing cement to be used in constructing attack tunnels.

The launch came a day after a rocket fired by Gaza-based terrorists struck a field northeast of the Strip. In response, IDF aircraft struck targets linked to the Hamas terror group, which rules Gaza.

The targets included an armaments production facility, a tunnel for smuggling weaponry and a Hamas military post, according to the IDF.

The attacks came during a general lull in violence from the Gaza Strip in recent months, amid a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas and as Gaza grapples with the coronavirus pandemic.

Last month, a rocket was fired toward Beersheba as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made a campaign stop in the southern city ahead of the March 23 elections.

Florida Keys to see release of first genetically modified mosquitoes

The project was devised to fight insect-borne diseases but has stirred controversy

In an effort to fight insect-borne viruses like Zika, dengue fever and malaria, genetically modified mosquitoes are set to be released in the Florida Keys.

U.K.-based biotechnology company Oxitec has partnered with the Florida Keys Mosquito Control District in an effort to control the invasive and disease-spreading female Aedes aegypti mosquitoes in the region.

Oxitec's male mosquitoes which don't bite, unlike the recently-discovered yellow fever-carrying Aedes scapularis mosquitoes will be introduced in small areas in a select number of neighborhoods between mile markers 10 and 93 in the Keys.

The project, Oxitec hopes, will be successful in passing what Oxitec Head of Regulator Affairs Dr. Nathan Rose calls a "self-limiting" gene from its genetically modified males to their wild mates, ensuring future offspring do not mature into adulthood and reducing the population.

Rose told Fox News on Friday that this project will be critical as the U.S. sees mosquito-borne disease "actually becoming a problem" more and more, citing locally transmitted Dengue Fever outbreaks in the Keys and the Zika virus crisis in Summer 2016 that the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said infected 29 persons within a 6-block area forcing them to aerial spray to control mosquitoes.

While more than 7,300 Dengue cases were reported in the U.S. between 2010 and 2020 cases are largely contracted outside the U.S. there were 71 cases that were transmitted locally in the Sunshine State, according to the CDC.

Pardes enables haredi youth to train in a track that is managed and run within a haredi framework, with the candidates free to continue studying Torah alongside their coursework in an ultra-Orthodox environment.

After passing the obscenely competitive screening process, each went through pre-academic preparatory courses in the fields of computer science, geopolitics and international relations before applying for jobs in the security establishment.

State Department Disputes White House Claims of Border Crisis Agreements

WH official claimed agreements in place with Mexico, Guatemala, and Honduras

A State Department spokeswoman on Friday disputed a top White House official's claim that President Biden had secured agreements with Central American countries to address the border crisis.

While White House aide Tyler Moran told MSNBC on Monday the administration had reached security deals with Mexico, Honduras, and Guatemala, a State Department spokeswoman told the Washington Free Beacon no such agreements are in place.

"While we are coordinating efforts, no agreements have been established," the spokeswoman said. "Each of the countries has decided on how to strengthen border security in ways that are appropriate for them, and we have seen the result in increased access to protection, apprehensions of irregular migrants, greater numbers of checkpoints, and the successful dispersal of large, organized migrant groups."

Moran said the administration reached agreements with the Latin American countries to secure their borders in an effort to deter smugglers and drug and child traffickers from coming to the United States.

"We've secured agreements for them to put more troops on their own border. Mexico, Honduras, and Guatemala have all agreed to do this," Moran said. "That not only is going to prevent the traffickers, and the smugglers, and cartels that take advantage of the kids on their way here, but also to protect those children."

Federal and foreign officials have also contradicted Moran's claim. Northern Triangle Special Envoy Ricardo Zúniga testified to the House Foreign Affairs Committee that the Biden administration has not reached any agreement with the countries. Similarly, Honduras Foreign Affairs Minister Lisandro Rosales said Monday the nation has made no commitment to put soldiers on its border.

The White House did not respond to a request for comment.

Rep. Darrell Issa (R., Calif.) accused the Biden administration of lying to the American people about the border crisis.

"This is a series of bold-faced lies," Issa said. "The [Biden administration] has deliberately said something that wasn't true affecting foreign policy…. He’s taking credit for what is the unilateral efforts of these countries to deal with the crisis that he’s created for them."

Mark Morgan, former acting commissioner of Customs and Border Protection and Heritage Foundation visiting fellow, said the administration is hurting the American people the most with misleading public statements.

"You look to our elected leaders, especially at the highest levels of government, to speak to you and tell you the truth," Morgan said. "When that’s not happening, you erode everything we stand for."

Morgan also said the conflicting statements undermine the narrative that the Biden administration respects and values its allies and partners.

"This administration is trying to portray that this never happened under the Trump administration," Morgan said of working with regional partners. "They’re lying about it."

The crisis at the border remains a major problem for the Biden administration. Suspected terrorists and gang members have been apprehended, and border crossings in March hit a 15-year high, as an understaffed border patrol struggles to address the varied humanitarian and security problems that come with a massive influx of illegal immigration.

Major black leaders come out in support of voter ID, slam 'totally oblivious' white liberals

"It’s clear that most Blacks support voter ID, and it’s obvious why we do so."

A coalition of black leaders on Friday came out strongly in support of voter ID laws, arguing that most black voters feel the same way and rebuking what they said was the "oblivious" and "opportunistic" denial of those opinions by progressive leaders.

The coalition, which includes U.S. Representative Burgess Owens, former Florida Lt. Gov. Jennifer Carroll, former Texas state Representative James Earl Wright, and former U.N. Ambassador Ken Blackwell, write at RealClearPolitics that "liberal orthodoxy" dictates that "all Blacks think alike, and all Blacks support Black Lives Matter, and all Blacks oppose the recently enacted Georgia Election Integrity Act," one that in part mandates voter ID at the polls.

Yet the writers note that a recent Rasmussen Reports poll "found that 69% of Blacks and 82% of nonwhite minorities support voter ID," while another recent poll "found that a full two-thirds of Blacks in Georgia support voter ID."

"The data seems clear: A majority of Black Americans support voter ID laws," they argue. Yet, they claim, "opportunistic activists like Stacey Abrams pretend the entire Black community stands behind them and the radical Democrat Party," crafting a narrative in which black people "are either opposed to voter ID or, even more offensively, that Blacks are incapable of obtaining IDs."

The group claims that "elites, most of whom are white, have enabled them, taking it upon themselves to determine who the 'leaders' of the Black community are and ignoring anyone else who suggests differently." U.S. Instructors Spotted On Donbass Frontlines: Report

The press officer of the People’s Militia of the Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR) Ivan Filiponenko claimed that instructors from the United States had taken part in the training of Ukrainian artillerymen in Eastern Ukraine. The claim was made during the daily briefing on April 17.

According to Filiponenko, the training of Ukrainian forces took place near ​​the village of Pokrovske.

“The trainings of the UAF 40 separate artillery brigade were attended by US instructors stationed at the Yavoriv training range,” Filiponenko said.

Sabotage Attack Targeted Two Oil Wells In Northern Iraq

Early on April 17, two oil wells located in the northern Iraqi province of Kirkuk were attacked by unidentified saboteurs.

In a statement, the state-owned North Oil Company said that the wells, a part of the Bai Hasan oil fields, were targeted with improvised explosive devices. The attack did not result in any material or human losses. The production process was not hindered, either.

“These attacks will not stop the national efforts to maintain the production process in support of the national economy,” the statement reads.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, so far. Nevertheless, Iraqi sources said that ISIS cells were behind the sabotage act.

ISIS has been highly-active in Kirkuk. This week alone, the terrorist group’s cells carried out eight attacks against Iraqi government forces in different parts of the province.

The sabotage act in Bai Hasai oil fields is a dangerous development. ISIS or other sides may be attempting to disturb oil production in Iraq. This would have bad ramifications on the country’s economy, which is already struggling.

Why the Man Behind Billboard Attacking Matt Gaetz May Want to Sit This One Out

In light of the news that Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) is under investigation from the Department of Justice when it comes to sexual relations with a 17-year old, one PAC has taken out quite the billboard against the congressman. As Jordan Williams with the Hill reported, "'Matt Gaetz wants to date your child' billboard appears in Florida."

Mad Dog PAC, which Williams describes as "liberal" paid for the billboard. It turns out that the chair of that PAC is"Claude Taylor, a former staffer in former President Clinton’s White House."

Of all PACs to take out such an ad, I'm not sure if someone like Claude Taylor ought to be the one to do so and speak up so vocally about it.

He's also infamous for sexual misconduct with White House intern Monica Lewinsky, which occurred in the Oval Office, while he was president, and was impeached on accusations for perjury and obstruction of justice when it came to the affair.

Matt Gaetz: The swamp is out to drown me with false charges, but I'm not giving up," published by the Washington Examiner on April 5: "Nancy Pelosi once defended President Bill Clinton after he got an intern to fellate him in the Oval Office. But when it comes to the allegation that I, a grown man, paid for an adult girlfriend’s expenses? Well, consider that a bridge too far for the power-hungry hypocrites."

President Clinton has also been associated with convicted sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein, though a spokesperson for the former president has consistently denied the claim he visited Epstein's private island. He is known for and acknowledged flying on Epstein's jet, however, to other locations.

New book threatens to spill ACP secrets and scandals

re the secrets and scandals of the halls of 54 Park Street – the headquarters of Kerry Packer’s prized Australian Consolidated Press magazine empire – soon to be laid bare in a tell-all book?

Former staff members seem to think so.

Members of ACP Alumni, a private Facebook group that boasts more than 2000 ex-staffers sharing humdrum anecdotes from the glory days of magazines, were outraged when rumours began circulating that a former colleague-turned-book publisher had infiltrated their ranks to obtain stories for an upcoming book.

Threats of legal action quickly ensued, as ACP stalwarts panicked that their juicy posts of long lunches and frivolous spending could make it into print.

Their panic is somewhat ironic, considering many worked for titles such as Woman’s Day, Australian Women’s Weekly, and NW in their heyday and would have sold their right arm for a good story. Yet it seems their own memories aren’t to be shared with the public.

Former TV Week editor Emma Nolan is now a non-fiction publisher at Simon & Schuster. A spokesperson for the publishing house confirmed a book about mag land is in the works. “Simon & Schuster is publishing a business biography about the key players and economics of the wider magazine industry,” the spokesperson said.

But fear not ACP Alumni members: “This is not a book about the ACP Facebook group and we won’t use any posted content from its members.”

Over the years plenty of gossip has emanated from Park Street, like the time a master safecracker broke into Kerry Packer’s office in 1995 and made off with gold bullion weighing 285kg. Then there was Anna Nicole Smith’s whirlwind tour of Sydney a decade later that saw ACP media executive Cameron Hoy resign after brushing lips with the former Playmate.

There certainly is a marketable book in there somewhere.
