SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Saturday night's protests in Sacramento near the State Capitol left four Sacramento police officers in the hospital, according to Action News Now affiliate station KCRA.

KCRA's Livecopter 3 flew over the protest, showing viewers the protesters and the police that were following the crowd from behind.

The four officers had been sprayed with a liquid irritant during the protests.

Police said the protestors were dressed in black with many protestors wearing helmets and carrying shields. They were protesting the police shooting deaths of Daunte Wright and Adam Toledo. Wright was shot by Brooklyn Center officer Kim Potter during a traffic stop in Minneapolis on Apr. 11, 2021. 13-year-old Adam Toledo was shot by police on Mar. 29 when officers responded to a Chicago neighborhood after reports of a shooting.

The crowds first gathered after 8:00 p.m. in Sacramento Saturday night at the Capitol Rose Garden before they marched around the downtown area.

Protestors briefly sat in the streets and chanted in the Lavender Heights area of Midtown before marching back toward the Capitol.

According to KCRA reporters, the protestors dispersed at approximately 11:00 p.m.

Just after 11:00 p.m. the Sacramento Police Department posted a tweet that said no arrests were made. They did say that investigators are following up on the incidents, which including the spraying of the police officers and two vandalism incidents.
