If you're really seeking God, you don't need religion, yet you'll benefit from studying various teachings and looking for that hidden truth in all of them. Christianity didn't work for me, though I tried.. I had become atheist as a teen/early 20s until I was taking Chem II and philosophy 101 at the same time one summer.. and it all hit me.. and now I see it in Christianity, probably the most.. but the literal interpretations don't really matter.. whether they're exactly true, whether there's more.. If you're truly seeking God, having convictions about details in specific events in history isn't what matters, and God is Most Forgiving for taking the "wrong" or long path toward God. The main step is heading toward God. When you're thinking by yourself (not to God) you're able to lie to yourself.. when you're thinking/speaking/praying toward God, sincerely, with faith that you are observed by "God".. you tell the truest truth, because its harder to lie to God than it is to lie to yourself.. and thus your truest truths are revealed to you.. and so forth.
