it's all about power levels.
more power = more damage
the closer you are = higher power level exposure
a few feet can make a difference with low power stuff, the cell phone on the desk vs next to your ear causes the amount of exposure from that phone to your brain to vary by a factor of many thousands.
in general all high powered transmitters have warning signs near the antennas. ALL old time TV station transmitter people know that it'll kill you quick if you expose yourself to that stuff at those levels.
long term exposure by consumers has only been proven to cause damage in one case I know of… with radar guns the cops kept in their laps causing testicular cancer
