Not to defend the CIA at all, but I think Kansas is legit… trust Kansas…

But I recall an anon post from more than a year back comparing the Catholic church to the USA.

Have official reps of the USA done very bad shit? YES.

But is the US still pretty much the best country ever? If not, which. Or do you have a plan for utopia with no countries?

Now look at the Catholic church. Do you think there is at least SOMETHING right about "christianity"…. if so, why would God TOTALLY corrupt the PRIME historical representative of Christianity? (which the Catholic Church is… sort of like the US when it comes to representative government…) This isn't to say that other branches of Christianity or even other religions might not be "right" in some way… even better than the Catholic church… but why would a "sort of" Christian God totally FUCK the Catholic church (unless he was going to totally FUCK the USA too….)

I think your intuitions have to "sort of" of be right…. even if you have to correct them at times…

Here's another take on this topic.

I think Pope Francis is a rather weak man.

But I suspect many popes have been weak. Just like many Presidents.

I get why some like him (especially women).

But on a deeper level he does not have the needed courage or acumen.

(I don't see any clear evidence that he is involved with seriously evil stuff… even if he is not astute enough to realize that some people he deals with are…)

As for Benedict XVI… my take is that he was basically pretty damn smart and good and courageous…

I think he "resigned" as a way to signal the HORRIBLE CORRUPTION… they are so corrupt that they just ignore the Pope… even though he is "supposed to be" in charge.

He couldn't just come out and denounce the Catholic Church, because millions of "normies" would utterly lose all hope that way.

He had to suck it up and resign.

He knows Francis is far weaker.

But he perseveres and prays.
