Let's say the jury, fearing riots, scapegoats a cop by handing down a quick & dirty guilty verdict and going home.
Isn't that assuming that the cops, who they just hung out to dry, are going to protect their neighborhoods if riots occur anyway?
So jury fucks over the cops, figuring the cops, like an abused spouse, will always rationalize away the fucking over and protect them, regardless.
Frontier justice would indicate that the cops, who are going to be scapegoated anyway, resign en masse and let the neighborhoods figure out how to defend themselves.
I'm sure there's a lot of red state PD's who could use some experienced officers.
