A Pasquotank County sheriff’s deputy shot and killed a man today in Elizabeth City.

A friend of the decedent, Demetria Williams, said she saw deputies open fire on Andrew Brown Jr., 42, as he tried to leave in his car. She said Brown did not have a gun.
