You are severely underestimating how much having an insanely strong magnetic field surrounding the planet and being encased in a thick atmosphere affect your physical sensation on the surface.
What are you expecting space to do to you through the magnetic field and atmosphere? reach out and accelerate you? Force a small part of the atmosphere to rush past you so you can feel the wind? What do you think 1000mph feels like in space? Why does it feel different than on earth? Why isn't there a direct comparison?
Your sensations of speed are BECAUSE of the atmosphere. You can go ANY speed in space and only feel acceleration. YOU CAN ONLY FEEL WHEN THERE IS CHANGE AROUND YOU. If you move at a constant speed, regardless of what speed it is, it feels the exact same in space. How do you think spacewalks are possible? Astronauts don't feel like they're falling at 17,000mph, but that does not change the fact that they're experiencing immense speed.
You have conflated sensation with numbers that only apply in our atmosphere. You should experiment more with physics, once you play around with the equations, you begin to understand the relationship between sensation and reality.
