This was just posted in a local republican group in my area. Has anyone heard of this?

I'm a life-long Republican, and have been in precinct leadership for 30 years.

I wanted to share a topic that many may not know about. Oklahoma signed onto the Convention of States in 2016.

This is a wonderful solution for the disfunction of Congress in Washington DC, so you need to be familiar with it.

Here's a short Youtube you can listen to while driving – where the North Carolina state legislature committee describes what the Convention of States is, and approves it.

https://youtu.be/wf60gRZEgpU

There are 15 other states which have approved the COS, including Oklahoma. We need to get to 34 states to hold the Convention. Ultra quick summary –

This is NOT a Constitution Convention, it's a Convention of States where each state legislature sends one person to vote on predetermined topics. It's better to think of it as an "Intervention of States" to make congress behave, with –

1) Federal Term Limits

2) Balanced Budget

3) Limiting the size & reach of the Federal government

Once the details of these 3 items are reached by a majority of the 34 states attending, the details then have to be approved by 3/4 of the 50 states (38 states). So there are safeguards that what 38 states think is needed – will happen!

And Republicans have full control of the legislative branch in 30 states. (So we don't need to worry about what California, Oregon, New York, & Illinois, etc. will want….they will be the minority, at least at this time, which is a good reason to act.)

Listen to the Youtube, and you will be sold on the value of fixing Congress with this tool in Article 5 of the U.S. Constitution.
