This is meant to be comedy, but it really does draw a lot of parallels to our current world
The 4th amendment: It feels like it should include intellectual property or personal data, but does it?
How many times have you been discussing something specific in private with a family member or friend (either on the phone or in person with a smartphone within earshot), only to find you're getting relative ads, emails, etc soon thereafter?
That's the parallel I was referring to.
Obviously we're not a computer simulation, but there are programmers to control input and output (special interest groups and MSM), and IT departments to fix bugs (governing bodies and bad actors)

What was that movie/show (mainstream) where a character was trying to demonstrate how they could do random things without warning to prove the world wasn't simulatedโฆ.
I can't remember, but the point was that if it were an actual computer simulation, we'd have finite abilities, and humans consistently produce unique results/actions over time.

Even back in the post-caveman days before technology, there were storytellers that did shadow puppet shows on cave walls.
There were those who wished to captivate and shape the minds that were malleable.
What we have now is a very elaborate version of that.
My guess is that's how secret societies were born: Those who had the ability to captivate an audience and convince them with various tactics including wealth or apparent accolades.
