Russia to withdraw troops from deployment on border with Ukraine, Moscow confirms, as major snap exercises in Crimea conclude

Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu has announced that troops deployed in the west and south of the country in recent days will soon begin returning to base, saying they have now passed tests of their combat readiness.

The chief of the country’s military revealed on Thursday that a number of units of the regular army and airborne divisions had been transferred to the area, near the shared border with Ukraine, as part of surprise military exercises. The buildup had caused alarm in Kiev, and been cited by Western nations as a potential precursor to an invasion, which the Kremlin repeatedly denied.

According to Shoigu, “the goals of the sudden inspection have been fully achieved. The troops demonstrated their ability to ensure reliable defense of the country.”

As a result, he has now ordered commanders to “plan and begin the return of troops to their places of regular deployment, beginning from April 23.” By the end of the month, the minister said, “the personnel of the 58th Army of the Southern Military District, the 41st Army of the Central Military District, the 7th, 76th Air Assault and 98th Airborne Divisions of the Airborne Forces” will return to their normal bases.

However, he warned that the army would “react and respond adequately to all changes in the situation near Russian borders.”

The NYT has just published the first "official" leak detailing the outline of President Biden's "American Family Plan", the second part of his administration's signature "Build Back Better" proposal (the first part, entitled the "American Jobs Plan", was unveiled during a live press briefing in Pittsburgh earlier this month).

The second phase of Biden's sweeping "Green New Deal"-inspired program centers on what administration officials call "human infrastructure".

Should it pass in its current form, it would entail spending hundreds of billions of dollars on universal pre-kindergarten, expanded subsidies for child care, a national paid leave program for workers and free community college tuition for all.

While the overhaul will raise taxes on investors and millionaires via a proposal for a top marginal income tax rate at 39.6% (up from 37%, the level it was reduced to under Trump) a controversial increase in capital gains tax for individuals earning more than $1 million per year (raising the rate to 39.6% from 20%) was also included as part of the package described by the NYT.

More on the Postal Service Spying on Americans – The USPIS Included “Lists of Donors and/or Potential Donors’ In Warrants to Arrest ‘We Build The Wall’ Leaders

The US Postal Inspection Service (USPIS) intentionally included in their warrants to arrest the ‘We Build the Wall’ leaders, “lists of donors and/or potential donors” upon arrest.

We believe this data was likely used by the UPSIS recently to spy on conservatives.

Today we have additional evidence to support our theory that the USPIS is using the ‘We Build the Wall’ inventory of donors for their inventory of individuals to spy on.

First of all, in the warrant issued and used by the USPIS when they arrested the ‘We Build the Wall’ leaders, the USPIS specifically included, among other items, “lists of donors and/or potential donors“. We have reviewed the search warrant and can confirm this was included. This evidence is clear – that they were aware of the donor list and wanted to get their hands on it before their agents departed New York on their journey to Florida to arrest war hero Brian Kolfage.

When the 15 USPIS employees exited their vehicles to arrest Brian Kolfage, for example, they may have been more interested in the data he maintained on his computers than on the man they came to arrest. Also, when the warrant says “and/or other potential donors”, that likely includes all the data they could find. They took it all.

We reached out to Brian Kolfage and he shared this:

The SDNY/USPIS knew that I had one of the largest donor data lists in the nation. They were monitoring my emails and saw everything we discussed related to these lists. The data I have goes back 15+ years of every single conservative donor and even some Democrats. The data shows who they are, where they live, their email, occupation, how much they have given and how often. This was the holy grail for them to have so that they could target people with ease.

The Justice Department’s Southern District of New York (SDNY) and the USPIS knew what they were after when the 15 officers pulled up to Kolfage’s house last year. They knew what they were after when they arrested Steve Bannon and the others who on their own initiative built a portion of the Southern Border’s wall.

The question is, did they then use this information to spy on Americans? Since our USPIS and the SDNY are involved, and the FBI cannot be trusted to perform an adequate investigation, will any politicians get their hands dirty and dig into this outrageous violation of good Americans’ rights?

Ukraine's President Signs Bill To Call Up Reservists Just As Russia Appears To De-Escalate

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who recently donned combat gear to join his government’s troops on the battle line with the Donbass, on Wednesday addressed the nation in a televised address in which he conjured up the specter of Russian troops on his nation’s eastern border. He asked and answered a number of rhetorical questions, among them: "Do Ukraine and its international partners demand that troops be withdrawn from our borders? Yes." The international partners in question are the US and its NATO allies and partners.

The keynote of his address was this: "Does Ukraine want a war? No. Is it ready for it? Yes. Will Ukraine stop fighting for peace through diplomacy? Never. Will Ukraine defend itself if it needs to? Always."

The utility of such phrasing is that the statement can be interpreted differently according to where the stress is laid. And a threat of war can be couched within a seeming pledge of peace. His "international partners" can portray his comments as reflecting a desperate plea for peace while confronted with the threat of war. That is, Zelensky projects himself simultaneously as a peace-loving statesman and a resolute (if reluctant) warrior.

The message was addressed to three capitals in particular. Moscow, Washington and Brussels.

On Wednesday Zelensky also signed into law a bill passed three weeks ago by the Ukrainian parliament, the Verkhovna Rada, called On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine Concerning the Improvement of Certain Issues of Military Duty and Military Record Keeping.

"This document improves the requirements for manning the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations with reservists (military-trained persons with combat experience) in a special period without announcing mobilization. This will make it possible to quickly equip the military units of all the defense forces of the state with reservists, which will significantly increase their combat capability during a military aggression, as well as rapidly increase the combat potential of the defense forces and allow timely response to sudden threats to national security."

Israeli military to investigate why air defenses failed to intercept missile 'from Syria' that landed near nuclear site

Israel has launched a probe to determine why its air defenses were not able to shoot down a missile that landed in the country near a nuclear reactor, prompting a retaliatory strike from the IDF.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) claimed that a long-range SA-5 surface-to-air missile was launched from the direction of Syria toward Israeli fighter jets that were reportedly carrying out airstrikes in the Syrian Golan. The missile exploded in a village just a few miles from Dimona, the Negev desert town where Israel's nuclear reactor is located, on Thursday morning.

The IDF said that it does not believe that the nuclear site was specifically targeted and that the missile was not meant to strike any particular site on the ground. The projectile did not result in any injuries or serious damage.

Israeli radar detected that at least one of the missiles was heading toward the Negev desert, triggering sirens in the area and sending IDF anti-air crews into action. However, the defensive measures failed to stop the SA-5 from landing.

Commenting on the incident, Defense Minister Benny Gantz acknowledged at a press conference in Tel Aviv that an attempt to intercept the missile “did not succeed” and that the IDF are investigating what went wrong.

“Normally we see different outcomes,” Gantz noted.

The IDF has declined to identify which of its air defense systems was involved in the unsuccessful effort to shoot down the alleged Syrian projectile.

In response to the apparently off-target missile, Israel claims to have targeted a Syrian battery located approximately 24 miles (40km) from Damascus. Syria’s air defenses were said to have intercepted “most of the enemy missiles,” according to a military spokesman. Several Syrian soldiers were reportedly injured in the Israeli strike.

Israel has often relied on its Iron Dome missile defense system to shield it from projectiles fired by Hamas militants in Gaza. In most cases, Israel has alleged that the missile shield has been able to intercept incoming rockets.

In February, Israel’s internal security service arrested an Arab man over allegations he was spying and providing information on state missile defenses to Hamas.

The missile exchanges come amid ongoing tensions between the two rival neighbors. Israeli warplanes routinely carry out strikes in Syrian territory, although the IDF rarely comments on such operations. Earlier this month, four Syrian servicemen were injured in a missile attack that reportedly came from the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.

Boris Johnson hunts for leaker with ‘internal inquiry’ after ‘lobbying’ texts with billionaire James Dyson exposed

Downing Street is investigating the leak of text messages between Boris Johnson and billionaire vacuum cleaner tycoon James Dyson following outcry over the PM’s phone ‘lobbying’.

With Johnson embroiled in a scandal after promising Dyson that his staff wouldn’t pay extra taxes if they returned to the UK to help make ventilators amid the coronavirus pandemic, his spokesman told reporters on Thursday that an investigation has been launched into the leak.

“I can confirm that, yes, we have instructed the Cabinet Office to look into this,” he said, adding that it would be an “internal inquiry.”

The investigation will “get into the source of leaks of private communication” between the PM and Dyson and “is limited to that.”

Unnamed sources close to the prime minister told The Guardian that Johnson is “constantly lobbied by phone,” where discussions are private unlike official meetings, and that the habit had become a growing concern.

The newspaper reported this week that Johnson “has had the same number for a decade,” has given his phone number out “liberally” over the years and is “regularly texted by business leaders and politicians” as “only meetings and not text messages need to be disclosed.”

On Wednesday, however, amid public outcry, Johnson refused to apologise for the under-the-table text messages and promised to publish his discussions with Dyson.

“I make absolutely no apology at all for shifting heaven and earth and doing everything I possibly could, as any prime minister would in those circumstances, to secure ventilators for the people in this country and to save lives,” he declared, claiming there is “absolutely nothing to conceal.”

Earlier, Labour leader Keir Starmer accused the government of “sleaze, sleaze, sleaze” and said the leaks demonstrated a culture of “favours, privileged access, tax breaks for mates.”

A committee of MPs are reportedly discussing whether to interrogate Johnson over his private mobile phone use.

UK corruption watchdog report alleges ‘systemic bias,’ says Downing St’s Covid-19 procurement favoured firms friendly with MPs

The UK government is under fire for its “systemically biased” approach to Covid-related procurement, after a new anti-corruption report raised red flags for over £3.7 billion worth of contracts – several awarded via a “VIP lane.”

According to a Transparency International UK paper released on Thursday, over 20% of the £18 billion in public money spent by Boris Johnson’s administration – or one in five government Covid contracts – between February and November last year has at least one link to possible corruption.

Claiming the government had “damaged trust in the integrity of the pandemic response,” the corruption watchdog criticized it for a “seriously flawed” awarding process – for personal protective equipment (PPE) contracts in particular, whereby bidding companies were allegedly prioritized if they were referred into a so-called ‘VIP’ fast-track lane through political contacts.

“The frequency with which Covid-related contracts were awarded to those with political connections is deeply concerning and is at such a level that it cannot be explained away as coincidence,” said Daniel Bruce, the group’s chief executive.

That only a “select group” was aware of the VIP lane – with those in the know “confined to one side of the House” – suggested that the PPE contract awarding system was “preloaded with bias,” Bruce added.

British spy agency MI5 is now on Instagram, promising to show off the ‘secret of successful spying’ and demonstrate how to ‘consider all angles.’ It has already beaten its sister service, GCHQ, in number of followers.

In just five hours since making its first post, the official MI5 account already has 30,000 people following it. One could see this as a testament to the limelight that the counterintelligence agency gets from the similarly named foreign intelligence organization which employs fictitious super-agent James Bond. MI6 is sadly absent on the network, but GCHQ, Britain’s signal intelligence agency, joined Instagram in October 2018, and has only 24.3k followers so far.

British spooks will have to work hard, however, to compete with their cousins across the pond. Since the CIA joined the network in 2019, it has drawn a cozy audience of 350,000 followers.

The first MI5 post contains a photo from an unusual angle of its London HQ and says that considering unorthodox perspectives is a “secret to successful spying.” It adds: “Follow us as we open our doors to Instagram, granting you exclusive views of life inside MI5.”

Of course, spy agencies are supposedly not on Instagram for the strong following and free skin care products that are awarded to the regular influencer crowd. MI5 Director General Ken McCallum says he wants to helm a more open intelligence organization that is keeping up with “an increasingly open and connected world.”

“We owe it to the public to be constantly striving to learn and improve; and in our fast-moving world, with technology advancing at incredible speed, it would be dangerous vanity to imagine MI5 can build all the capabilities it needs inside its own bubble,” he wrote in the Daily Telegraph, in an article explaining the “belated” Instagram engagement.

The account will allow MI5 to “reach out directly” to the wider public, seeking recruits, external expertise, and “varied perspectives,” and debunking “whatever Martini-drinking stereotypes may be lingering” out there.

People should not disregard the agency as an employer “based on perceived barriers such as socio-economic background, ethnicity, sexuality, gender, disability, or which part of the country they happen to have been born in.”

Biden administration moves to force religious hospitals to perform sex-change surgeries

The administration filed an appeal Tuesday to keep the 'transgender mandate' alive

President Joe Biden's administration filed an appeal on Tuesday that aims to keep in place a mandate forcing religious doctors and hospitals to provide sex-change surgeries, despite their conscientious objections.

The Obama administration first issued the rule — known as the "transgender mandate" — in 2016, using a nondiscrimination provision in the Affordable Care Act to require doctors and hospitals to provide sex reassignment surgeries to any and all patients, including children, so long as the procedure was recommended by a mental health professional.

The mandate required virtually all private insurance companies to provide coverage for the controversial procedures and notably did not allow for religious exemptions, the Catholic News Agency reported.

Since being issued, the mandate has faced significant resistance from health professionals and has been caught up in the legal system. In January, a North Dakota judge sided with a group of Catholic hospitals, ruling that the mandate "violates their sincerely held religious beliefs without satisfying strict scrutiny under the Religious Freedom Restoration Act."

But on Tuesday the Biden administration appealed that ruling, according to Luke Goodrich, the vice president and senior counsel at the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, the firm representing the Catholic hospitals.

Goodrich broke down the news in a lengthy Twitter thread, saying:

The plaintiffs are religious doctors, hospitals, and clinics who joyfully serve ALL patients regardless of sex or gender identity. They routinely provide top-notch care to transgender patients for everything from cancer to the common cold.

They also provide millions of dollars in free and low-cost care to the elderly, poor, and underserved–care that is jeopardized by the government's attempt to punish them with multi-million dollar penalties.

The Transgender Mandate not only threatens religious doctors and hospitals. It also threatens patients, as there is ample evidence that certain gender transition procedures can be deeply harmful.

Multiple federal courts have reached the same conclusion: "There is no medical consensus that sex reassignment surgery is a necessary or even effective treatment for gender dysphoria." Gibson v. Collier, 920 F.3d 212, 223 (5th Cir. 2019).

The government's own doctors during the Obama Admin agreed: "Based on a thorough review of the clinical evidence . . . there is not enough evidence to determine whether gender reassignment surgery improves health outcomes for [patients] with gender dysphoria.

And just weeks ago, a study commissioned by NHS England found "very low" evidence for the effectiveness of "puberty blockers" and cross-sex hormones.

The Biden Admin shouldn't have appealed. But we look forward to another ruling that protects patients, aligns with current medical research, and ensures doctors aren't forced to violate their religious beliefs and professional medical judgment.

Dept. Covered For and Protected Police Union President as He Raped Kids for Decades

Boston, MA — On Tuesday, documents were released detailing the abuse and cover-up of said abuse carried out by Patrick M. Rose Sr., the former president of the Boston Police Patrolmen’s Association and Boston PD detective. Rose has been charged with molesting children, and the documents prove the department knew, and allowed him to continue to serve in their ranks and even engage with children.

The documents are redacted copies of internal affairs investigations into Rose. Boston Mayor Kim Janey’s office said the information was to be released to shed light on the baffling case of how Boston’s top cop was allowed to go on abusing children for decades.

“It is appalling that there was a documented history of alleged child sexual abuse, yet this individual was able to serve out his career as an officer and eventually become the head of the patrolmen’s union for several years,” she said. “Under no circumstance will crimes of this nature be tolerated under my administration, and we will not turn a blind eye to injustices as they arise.”

The evidence surfaced in 1995 when the Boston police department filed a criminal complaint against Rose for sexual assault on a 12-year-old boy. Despite the evidence, Rose managed to get the case against him dropped. An internal affairs investigation would later conclude that Rose indeed committed the crime, however, he kept his badge and remained a cop for the next years — continuing to abuse children over the course of the following two decades.

As MassLive reports, even after Boston Police Department investigators informed then-Commissioner Paul F. Evans in 1996 that there was credible evidence supporting allegations that one of the department’s officers had sexually assaulted a child, that officer was allowed to keep his job, according to the documents.

Janey said it is “deeply unsettling and entirely unacceptable that Rose remained on the force for two decades,” enabling his ascent to the top of the police union.

“What’s more, Rose was allowed to have contact with young victims of sexual assault during the course of his career, and we now know that he allegedly went on to assault several other children,” Janey said, in a statement.

Rose’s fall from police grace began last August when a father and his daughter walked into the station to file a complaint against Rose. The father and daughter alleged that Rose repeatedly raped her from age 7 to age 12.

Empowered by the original girl’s courage, over the next several weeks, more victims came forward detailing horrifying abuse by Rose spanning the course of decades.

REPORT: Pfizer Vaccine Confirmed To Cause Neurodegenerative Diseases

A new report has determined the Pfizer vaccine can cause Alzheimer's and other conditions

In a shocking new report on the COVID-19 vaccines, it has been discovered that the Pfizer coronavirus vaccine has long term health effects not previously disclosed, including “ALS, Alzheimer’s, and other neurological degenerative diseases.”

“The current RNA based SARSCoV-2 vaccines were approved in the US using an emergency order without extensive long term safety testing,” the report declares. “In this paper the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine was evaluated for the potential to induce prion-based disease in vaccine recipients.” Prion-based diseases are, according to the CDC, a form of neurodegenerative diseases, meaning that the Pfizer vaccine is likely to cause long term damage and negative health effects with regards to the brain.

This is especially concerning since the Pfizer vaccine is an mRNA vaccine, an untested type of vaccine which creates new proteins and can actually integrate into the human genome, according to a report from the National Library of Medicine. In other words, degenerative brain conditions may appear at any time in your life after receiving the vaccine.

“The RNA sequence of the vaccine as well as the spike protein target interaction were analyzed for the potential to convert intracellular RNA binding proteins TAR DNA binding protein (TDP-43) and Fused in Sarcoma (FUS) into their pathologic prion conformations,” explains the report. TDP-43 is a protein known to cause dementia, ALS and even Alzheimer’s, according to Alzpedia. Similarly, the FUS protein is known to cause ALS and Hereditary Essential Tremors, according to the Human Genome Database.

The experiment done for the report was to determine whether or not these two harmful proteins embed themselves into our DNA, as an mRNA vaccine is expected to do. The report determined that “the vaccine RNA has specific sequences that may induce TDP-43 and FUS to fold into their pathologic prion confirmations,” meaning that both proteins have the potential to embed themselves into our DNA and cause harmful neurological diseases.

The report’s abstract summary concludes that “The enclosed finding as well as additional potential risks leads the author to believe that regulatory approval of the RNA based vaccines for SARS-CoV-2 was premature and that the vaccine may cause much more harm than benefit.” The report itself ends with this warning: “The vaccine could be a bioweapon and even more dangerous than the original infection.”

National File actually reached out to the CDC to inquire as to why the Pfizer vaccine is still being distributed despite these credible allegations. No response was received prior to publication.

Microsoft Partners With Chinese Military-Linked Huawei Spinoff.

Microsoft – which has been facing a series of masssive hacks from the Chinese Communist Party – partnered with the tech firm Honor, a company recently spun off from the Chinese military-linked firm Huawei.

Microsoft is providing Honor’s laptops, such as the MagicBook Pro, with its Windows 10 operating system. The December 2020 partnership was announced just one month after Honor was spun-off of Huawei, a Chinese Communist Party-linked telecommunications company heavily sanctioned by the Trump administration.

Labeled a “national security threat” and Chinese military collaborator by the U.S. Department of Defense, Huawei routinely provides the Chinese Communist Party backdoor access to its products, networks and devices. The U.S. State Department also notes Huawei is used as an “instrument not only for making money but also for pursuing the Party-State’s agenda and fulfilling its strategic objectives […] deeply enmeshed in Beijing’s system of oppression at home and its increasingly assertive strategic ambitions globally.”

And Honor still retains links to the Chinese Communist Party, as the Shenzhen city government was one of several involved in the consortium that purchased Honor for over $15 billion. What’s more, the primary purchaser, Digital China, retains ties to Huawei through its partnerships with programs such as cloud computing.

Therefore, Microsoft is skirting restrictions on U.S. tech companies from collaborating with the Chinese Communist Party by working with Honor, which retains comparable ties to the Chinese government.

Honor CEO Zhao Ming was “happy” with the deal, noting it “will see us team up with Microsoft worldwide,” and Xiang Ligang, Director of the Information Consumption Alliance, noted that Microsoft’s decision to partner with Honor will likely catalyze more American companies working alongside the company.

“With one US company partnering with Honor, more US companies are likely to be on board in the near future, which can better solve Honor’s supply chain issues,” he emphasized.

The partnership follows a long list of Microsoft entangling itself with the Chinese Communist Party. It has created operating systems explicitly for use by the Chinese government and attended conferences alongside Chinese military proxies and state-owned tech firms.

US Military Officials Warn of China’s Alarming Increase in Naval and Nuclear Military Power

China’s ability to project its naval power in the Indian Ocean, as well as its continued build-up of the nuclear arsenal, is of great concern to the United States, said two top U.S. military officials in recent congressional hearings.

Beijing’s naval power now includes aircraft carriers after China has modernized its military base in Djibouti on the Horn of Africa,according to Gen. Stephen Townsend, the head of U.S. Africa Command.

“Their first overseas military base, their only one, is in Africa, and they have just expanded that by adding a significant pier that can even support their aircraft carriers in the future. Around the continent, they are looking for other basing opportunities,” Townsend told the House Armed Services Committee on April 20.

Beijing opened its base in Djibouti in 2017 and it sits just 7.4 miles (12 kilometers) from Camp Lemonnier, which is home to about 4,500 American military personnel and the primary base of operations for U.S. African Command. Several other countries also have a base in Djibouti, including France, Japan, and Italy.

The presence of so many different military bases is due to Djibouti’s strategic location—it sits next to the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait separating the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea, the latter is the gateway to the Suez Canal. About 12 percent of world trade passes through the Suez Canal every day.

Currently, China has two aircraft carriers—the Liaoning and the newer Shandong—and is building a third one. In January, China’s state-run media reported that the construction of the third carrier is expected to be completed before the end of this year.

Chinese military officials have publicly denied that its Djibouti base was intended for “military expansion” and claimed that the base was needed to support anti-piracy and humanitarian relief missions.

However, Abhijit Singh, a former Indian naval officer and head of maritime policy at the Observer Research Foundation in New Delhi, said that China’s Djibouti base “most vividly demonstrates China’s Indian Ocean ambitions” in his article published in India’s newspaper ThePrint in June last year.

The Chinese regime has other ambitions in Africa. Townsend told the committee that China “very much ha[s] the intent to establish additional overseas bases in Africa, whether that be on the Atlantic coast of Africa or the Indian Ocean coast of Africa.”

“China is of great concern. They are literally everywhere on the continent. They are placing a lot of bets down. They are spending a lot of money,” Townsend added.

At another congressional hearing on Tuesday, Navy Admiral Charles Richard, the head of the U.S. Strategic Command, which oversees the country’s nuclear weapons, told the Senate Armed Services Committee that China’s nuclear stockpile was undergoing an “unprecedented expansion,” according to his opening testimony (pdf).

The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, an independent international institute based in Sweden, reported last year that China had an estimated 320 nuclear warheads in its arsenal as of January 2020.

As for how fast China was developing its nuclear capabilities, Richard told the committee: “I can’t get through a week right now, without finding out something we didn’t know about China.”

Richard pointed to China’s advancement in developing fast breeder reactors (a type of nuclear reactor) as an example of “how rapidly China is changing, or at least how rapidly we’re figuring it out.”

China, the world’s largest coal emitter, is pushing for the development of these advanced fast reactors to reduce its dependence on coal. A fast reactor makes more fissile materials like plutonium than it consumes, meaning that a large amount of these materials could potentially be diverted into making nuclear weapons. China is expected to roll out its first fast reactor in 2023.

“With a fast breeder reactor, you now have a very large source of weapons-grade plutonium available to you. That will change the upper bounds of what China could choose to do, if they wanted to in terms of further expansion of their nuclear capabilities,” Richard said.

North Dakota's Republican governor vetoes transgender sports bill

The governor kicked responsibility for governing state sports to the North Dakota High School Activities Association

The Republican governor of North Dakota on Wednesday vetoed a bill that would bar boy transgender athletes from playing on K-12 girls' sports teams, saying a state association that regulates high school activities is the best body to deal with transgender issues.

The bill, House Bill 1298, would have prohibited public elementary and secondary schools from "knowingly" allowing a student of the opposite sex to participate in a school-sponsored athletic team that is exclusively for females or exclusively for males. "Sex" is defined as "an individual's biological sex and is based solely on an individual's reproductive biology and genetics at birth." The bill has an exemption that would allow girls to play on boys' sports teams.

The bill also included an optional 2021-22 study to analyze the impact of these policies on student athletic events and directed findings from that study to be reported to the 2023 legislature.

The North Dakota bill is similar to bills introduced in 31 other states to prohibit transgender athletes from playing on sports teams that match their self-proclaimed gender. Arkansas, Mississippi, and Tennessee have signed those bills into law. Supporters of these bills say they protect fairness in women's sports by preventing males from competition against girls. Critics and transgender advocates say the legislation discriminates against trans youth.

In his veto message, North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum (R) said there is no evidence to suggest girls' sports are in "immediate danger" of becoming unfair and asserted the bill "would unnecessarily inject the state into a local issue by creating a ban with myriad unforeseen consequences."

"To date there has not been a single recorded incident of a transgender girl attempting to play on a North Dakota girls' team," the governor wrote. He noted that the North Dakota High School Activities Association "already has regulations in place for participation in sex-separated interscholastic contests by transgender athletes."

"These regulations require transgender girls to undergo testosterone suppression treatment for gender transition for a full calendar year before they are eligible to compete in girls' sports," the governor said.

"The most responsive sports governance is the organization closest to the teams and athletes they govern. If a question should arise related to a transgender student and athletic competition, the NDHSAA, parents, child, their health care provider, their school and their coaches are in the best position to manage that unique situation, especially given the child's right to privacy."

The bill now heads back to the state House. According to KXMB-TV reporter Maddie Biertempfel, Republicans have enough votes to overturn the governor's veto in the House but not in the state Senate.

Opponents of the bill including the North Dakota Human Rights Coalition and Tri-State Transgender issued a statement Wednesday applauding Burgum's veto.

"Governor Burgum's veto sends a loud message to other lawmakers across the country considering similar legislation: Stop the attacks on transgender youth. North Dakotans should be outraged that transgender youth, who already face higher levels of discrimination, were chosen to be the target of this hateful legislation," Tri-State Transgender president Katrina Koesterman said.

Xi Jinping Promotes ‘Green Belt and Road’ at Biden Climate Summit

Chinese dictator Xi Jinping used his appearance Thursday morning at the Biden administration’s Leaders Summit on Climate to promote China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), a debt trap program in which China offers predatory loans to developing countries in exchange for helping build infrastructure.

President Joe Biden invited dozens of world leaders to address the virtual summit on the occasion of Earth Day, an unofficial holiday promoting environmentalism, and offer proposals to reduce global pollution rates and discuss international programs to slow climate change.

China is the world’s biggest polluter, responsible for 28 percent of the world’s carbon dioxide emissions, according to the Union of Concerned Scientists. That rate is over twice the amount of carbon emissions as the United States, the world’s second-largest emitter. China has boasted that it intends to increase carbon emissions over the next decade and only “peak” by 2030, as permitted by the Paris Climate Agreement, while condemning Western nations whose carbon emissions have been steadily declining in the past decade.

President Donald Trump withdrew the United States from the Paris Climate Agreement during his tenure, but Biden reversed course and recommitted the U.S. to the deal as one of his first acts in office.

China’s state-run Global Times described Xi’s presence at the Leaders Summit on Climate as a “challenge” to Biden and the United States generally on its presence as the world’s dominant political power.

“Chinese experts warned that it would also be a big test for the Biden administration, casting doubts over its role as a global leader on climate change and questioning its true intention,” the propaganda outlet claimed.

Xi used his time at the summit to promote a newly rebranded “Green Belt and Road” as a solution to climate woes, a global plan in which China builds — for a profit — allegedly “green” infrastructure in developing countries. To that end, he urged the world not to ignore the contributions that developing countries can make to improving the environment.

“We must be committed to multilateralism. We need to work on the basis of international law, follow the principle of equity and justice, and focus on effective actions,” Xi said, urging a rigid “global climate governance” presumably led by China.

“We need to deliver social equity and justice in the cause of green transition and increase people’s sense of benefit, happiness, and security,” Xi urged, adding, “developed countries need to increase climate ambition and action.”

The BRI works by offering predatory loans to poor countries — most of them in Africa, Southeast Asia, and Latin America — the countries can then use to buy construction services from Chinese countries. This way, China keeps both the profits from the construction projects and interest from the loans. The projects tend to be geared towards improving transportation, such as new ports, railways, or highways in countries with minimal infrastructure.

House Passes Bill To Make DC The 51st State

The House of Representatives passed legislation Thursday which would give statehood to Washington, D.C., making it the 51st state in the U.S.

H.R. 51 passed the House 216-208. The bill would designate “Washington, Douglass Commonwealth” as the 51st state while still having a separate federal district.

Republicans have argued that the move is unconstitutional and that Democrats want D.C. statehood in order to add two Democratic senators in Congress as well as one Democratic representative in the House.

“The Democrats’ D.C. statehood scheme is about two things: consolidating power and enacting radical policies. The American people see right through this blatant power grab” House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy said before the vote.

The likelihood of D.C. becoming a state would mean Senate Democrats would need at least 10 Republicans to jump on board, however, if they abolished the filibuster it could be done without Repbulican support.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has continued to support the idea of D.C. statehood and said he would love to see both D.C. and Puerto Rico become states in a September interview with MSNBC, saying, “Believe me, on D.C. and Puerto Rico — particularly if Puerto Rico votes for it, D.C. already has voted for it and wants it — [we] would love to make them states.”

Democrats still need to get a few of their own to vote with them in the Senate, such as West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin and Arizona Sen. Kyrsten Sinema.

In September, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, who was then the majority leader, warned Republicans before the November 2020 elections that if the GOP loses control of all three branches of government that Democrats will try to end the filibuster and add D.C. and Puerto Rico as states.

“After they change the filibuster, they’re going to admit the District as a state. They’re going to admit Puerto Rico as a state. That’s four new Democratic senators in perpetuity,” McConnell said in a speech.

The bill has full support from President Joe Biden and the White House.

Joe Biden: Get Teenagers Vaccinated So Families Can Gather for July 4

President Joe Biden urged more Americans to get their coronavirus vaccine Wednesday, warning they still had “more to do” in order to celebrate Independence Day with their families.

“To celebrate our independence from this virus on July 4th with family and friends in small groups, we still have more to do in the months of May and June,” Biden said.

Biden first proposed the idea of allowing families and friends to gather for Independence Day on March 11, but he expressed concern on Wednesday the country was not ready.

“If we let up now and stop being vigilant, this virus will erase the progress we’ve already achieved,” he said.

The president spoke at the White House marking progress for vaccinations as more than 50 percent of American adults have had at least one shot of the vaccine.

Biden urged teenagers to get vaccinated as well as adults.

“To Americans 16 years and older, it’s your turn now. Now,” he said. “So go get your vaccine before the end of May.”

The president argued that Americans who remained unwilling to get their vaccinations faced the danger of getting sick or dying or putting their families and communities at risk.

“To put it simply: If you’ve been waiting for your turn, wait no longer,” he said.

Biden also repeated his call for everyone to keep wearing masks.

“We all need to mask up until the number of cases goes down until everyone has a chance to get their shot,” he said.

Whole World Could Be Vaccinated by 2022, Claims Blair

Tony Blair has claimed that the whole world has to get vaccinated “fast” before vaccine-resistant mutations occur, and that it could all be done by the end of 2021.

After failing to stop Brexit, the former Labour prime minister has sought to reinvent himself this year as a leading figure in Britain’s Chinese coronavirus response, reportedly advising the health secretary on the government’s proposals. He also called for “radically accelerated” plans on “health passports” from late December, just weeks after the UK approved its first vaccine.

Mr Blair has now set his sights on the whole world being vaccinated, telling BBC Radio 4’s Today programme on Wednesday: “The single biggest risk we have right now is not the absence of vaccination in the UK, because we’re doing well on vaccination. The single biggest risk we have is that unless the world gets vaccinated fast, then we run the risk of further mutations and getting a mutation eventually that we find the vaccines aren’t effective against.”

“We [the Tony Blair Institute] will produce a report in the next few weeks showing how we could, if the world got its act together, vaccinate the entire world in 2021 — really ambitious, but it’s really necessary,” Blair added.

The globalist-progressive former leader has claimed in recent months that the Chinese virus could “be with us probably for some years” and had pushed Prime Minister Boris Johnson to use the UK’s leadership of the G7 to create a “Global Covid Travel Pass”, alleging on the matter that “the UK faces a choice: lead or be led.”

As Britain prepared to unveil plans for releasing lockdown following a successful vaccination campaign, Blair’s think tank, the Tony Blair Institute, insisted in February that Johnson retain the tiered system, allowing for “both regional and local variation in restrictions” rather than the government’s nationwide measures.

Despite his irrelevancy in matters related to the UK’s association with the EU, Mr Blair has managed to find a reason to tie his favourite topic of Brexit into his new passion of mass vaccination, in blaming the UK’s exit from the bloc for Europe’s failed inoculation programme.

Blair remarked in March that had the UK not left the EU, Britain would have effectively saved the bloc from itself by rejecting plans to centralise vaccine procurement and put it solely under the control of the European Commission.

“You know that I am an avowed opponent of Brexit. It is and will remain a terrible strategic mistake for my country,” Blair could not help but mention in his interview with European media while crediting Brexit Britain for its solo swift response in developing vaccines.

He went on to claim that “we could have done all of this within the EU. Conversely, I find it rather interesting what the EU is missing out on because Great Britain is no longer a member of the EU.”

Continuing: “If we British were still in the EU, the procurement of the vaccine would not have been taken out of the hands of the nation-states. Any British government would have insisted on that.

“That is the only reason why Europe is now ten weeks behind.”

Despite the UK’s success, Blair went on to criticise national governments planning their own pandemic response, saying that countries should coordinate with “the whole world”, suggesting that successful vaccine nations should prioritise others above their own citizens by stating that such global coordination should entail “how we distribute the vaccine to everyone”.

While now positioning himself as a pandemic guru, sections of Blair’s 2011 autobiography, which resurfaced last month, had revealed he admitted to doing “the minimum” to prepare for a suspected 2005 flu outbreak, which he labelled at the time as a “panpanic”.
