>elevated tritium

Handy things isotopes. I went down a mad rabbit hole last year that took me from the Playboy Comic, Little Annie Fannie to the 1990's romantic comedy Joe vs. The Volcano to all the nuclear blasts at Bikini Atoll, then to the Queen of England and the first ever nuclear power plant, Canada, Uranium One, the Iron Man movies and finally to to Isolde at Cern. Technetium. Handy stuff. Better superconductivity than Nobium, although Nobium is more plentiful. It's remarkable what modern day alchemy occurs on a bog standard industrial estate outside Geneva.

It's quite simple really. Atomic age.

Need atomic isotopes and highly enriched Uranium for fuel.

Step 1. Natural Technetium (watch Joe vs. Volcano) also known as blowing up a load of atom bombs continuously as far away from mankind as possible (Bikini Atoll) and then collecting all the waste putting it in a big concrete dome and milking it for isotopes. France also does this in the Sahara desert the crazy Frogs.

Step 2.

First commercial nuclear power plants open in USA, Russia, France and UK. Scientists find a way of generating the isotopes from commercial nuclear reactors. Atomic testing stops almost immediately.

Step 3. Cern. Isolde facility at Cern develops a way to create isotopes on request. Nucleur reactors are still used for power but not needed for isotopes. This was shown in the Hollywood movie Iron Man 2 I think. The whole movie is about this with some action sequences on the side.

  1. We can put an end to all those rogue nuclear states now. No longer needed for the SSP I'd guess.
