9/11 Mastermind Wants To Share Information With Congress On CIA Hearing
Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, the principal mastermind of the September 11th, 2001 attacks on the US who is currently being held in Guantanamo Bay prison, has reportedly asked a military tribunal whether he would be allowed to share his personal information with the Senate Intelligence Committee presently interrogating Ms Gina Haspel for the position of CIA Director.
Ms Haspel, who is controversial for her past of running the operations of a black-site prison in Thailand where high-level detainees were allegedly tortured, faces a severe hearing, which is also why earlier this week President Donald Trump sent out tweets in her support.
It is unknown whether Ms Haspel was directly involved in Mr Mohammed’s torture (CIA documents confirm that he was indeed subjected to multiple cases of waterboarding. In total he suffered the act of ‘simulated drowning’ some 183 times). The 9/11 mastermind stated he wants to share ‘six paragraphs of information’ with the Committee.
Earlier this month, the four Democratic senators on the Intelligence Committee (Ms Kamala D. Harris and Ms Dianne Feinstein, both representing he state of California, Mr Ron Wyden of Oregon and Mr Martin Heinrich of New Mexico) asked the chairman of the Committee to declassify all CIA information regarding Ms Haspel’s direct involvement in the torture and interrogation programs, which the CIA has so far refused.
Their statement said: “The American people deserve transparency regarding the background of a nominee who will be asked to represent them, and their values, around the world.”
“Without making this information available to the American people, Ms. Haspel’s nomination cannot be fully and properly considered by the Senate.”
