Military police can ABSOLUTELY take someone down without ever pulling a weapon. Because sometimes, firing a weapon is Not a Good Idea (ships/subs/aircraft/flammable/chemicals/etc). Police don't need military weapons. They need significantly better training. And to be held fully accountable.

Also, We need mental health first responders. The FBI doesn't go into hostage situations with guns a-blazing. The have Trained Negotiators and Profile Specialists. THe UK is lightyears ahead of us in that department. Wonder why?
