ICE revokes President Trump policy fining illegal immigrants

https://www.oann.com/ice-revokes-president-trump-policy-fining-illegal-immigrants/

ICE will no longer be issuing fines to illegal immigrants who have failed to leave the U.S.

According to DHS officials on Friday, the agency is rescinding two delegation orders related to collecting fines.

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said immigration laws can be enforced without resorting to “unnecessary, ineffective and punitive measures.”

Mayorkas added ICE is also working with the Department of Treasury to cancel existing debts.

ICE stopped issuing the fines on January 20 and the number of ICE arrests has sunk 65 percent since Biden took office, as he continues to ignore the growing border crisis.

MIT researchers challenge indoor social distancing rules: 'No safer at 60 feet than 6 feet' (1/2)

"Many spaces that have been shut down in fact don't need to be," said study coauthor Martin Bazant.

https://justthenews.com/politics-policy/coronavirus/mit-researchers-challenge-indoor-social-distancing-rules-no-safer-60-ft

A new study out of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology is challenging major COVID-19 mitigation measures of the past year, claiming the widely accepted six-foot "social distancing" rule is more or less meaningless in indoor settings.

The study, authored by MIT chemical engineering Prof. Martin Bazant and applied mathematics Prof. John Bush, "characterize[s] the evolution of the concentration of pathogen-laden droplets in a well-mixed room, and the associated risk of infection to its occupants."

Indoor gatherings have been one of the most aggressive targets of COVID-19 mitigation measures over the past year. Health officials have warned that people congregating in indoor settings are at significant risk for COVID-19 infection. Authorities worldwide have mandated both that occupancy limits in public facilities and spaces be sharply decreased and that individuals should maintain strict 72-inch spaces between each other when inside them.

Those regulations have led most notably to widespread closures of schools for more than a year, as well as significantly curtailed economic activity, particularly among restaurants, bars, theaters and live entertainment venues.

Bazant and Bush in their new study suggest that the six-foot rule is largely irrelevant and that individuals are at risk from contracting the virus even if they are ten times farther away from an infectious individual.

The study notes that the respiratory droplets posited to be the primary transmitters of COVID-19 come in numerous sizes from large to small. "In the presence of a quiescent ambient, [smaller droplets] settle to the floor; however, in the well-mixed ambient more typical of a ventilated space, sufficiently small drops may be suspended by the ambient airflow and mixed throughout the room until being removed by the ventilation outflow or inhaled."

According to models of "closed, well-mixed" spaces, the authors claim, pathogens are "distributed uniformly throughout" the local environment. "In such well-mixed spaces, one is no safer from airborne pathogens at 60 ft than 6 ft," the study states.

Reached for comment, Bush told Just the News that their study indicates "that one cannot make sweeping statements about reopening."

"Each space must be assessed on a case by case basis," he said. "Our study provides a rational means of making such an assessment. Most importantly, it indicates that one must limit the time spent in a given indoor space, to an extent determined by the relevant physical parameters."

Bush stressed that, regardless of their findings on social distancing, he and his coauthor are firmly of the belief that masks are a necessary part of the response to COVID-19.

Whether an individual is six feet or 60 feet away from an infected individual, "masks protect one at both distances," he claimed.

MIT researchers challenge indoor social distancing rules: 'No safer at 60 feet than 6 feet' (2/2)

In the paper "we stress that mask-wearing is an extremely effective safety measure," he said. "Notably, masks filter both the outgoing pathogen from an infected individual and the air being inhaled by a susceptible person."

Bazant, meanwhile, told CNBC that he and Bush have concluded that "many spaces that have been shut down in fact don't need to be."

"Often times the space is large enough, the ventilation is good enough, the amount of time people spend together is such that those spaces can be safely operated even at full capacity and the scientific support for reduced capacity in those spaces is really not very good," he said.

Bazant further criticized widespread outdoor mask usage as "kind of crazy," telling the news network that "if people are keeping a reasonable distance of like 3 feet outside, I feel pretty comfortable with that even without masks, frankly."

The researchers said that "above all" the study "makes clear the inadequacy of the six-foot rule in mitigating indoor airborne disease transmission, and offers a rational, physically informed alternative for managing life in the time of COVID-19."

Whether or not the study will lead to changes in major social distancing guidelines is uncertain. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which continues to stress a minimum six-foot social distancing rule, did not provide comment in time for publication.

Bazan, meanwhile, told CNBC that public health authorities including the CDC "have never really provided justification for [social distancing rules], they've just said this is what you must do."

Other public health authorities have in recent weeks moved to relax their social distancing rules. North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper said this week that he anticipates lifting his social distancing mandate by the summer.

The UK's major annual music awards ceremony, meanwhile — the Brits — is reportedly expected to take place next month without either masks or social distancing rules.

And New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio this week suggested the city's masking and social distancing mandates could be lifted in July of this year, depending on the city's vaccination numbers at that point.

Portland's Democratic mayor begs public to help 'unmask' members of 'self-described anarchist mob'

'I’m also asking for your help to make a stand and take our city back,' Mayor Ted Wheeler said

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/portland-mayor-asks-public-help-unmask-members-self-described-anarchist-mob

Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler called Friday for the city’s residents to assist authorities in their efforts to "unmask" members of the "self-described anarchist mob" who have engaged in acts of violence and vandalism in recent months.

The Democrat extended a state of emergency in Portland through Monday amid concerns about potential unrest following the trial of Derek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer found guilty on all charges for the death of George Floyd. The Portland mayor asked the public to come forward with any information on members of the anarchist group.

"The city is beginning to recover, but self-described anarchists who engage in regular criminal destruction don’t want things to open up, to recover," Wheeler said. "They want to prevent us from doing the work of making a better Portland for everyone. They want to burn, they want to bash."

Portland has contended with months of violent demonstrations and clashes since Floyd’s death last May. Last Monday, a group of about 80 people caused nearly $20,000 worth of property damage to a Boys and Girls Club in northeast Portland.

On the previous Friday, police declared a riot amid reports of gunshots, broken windows at the First Christian Church and anti-police graffiti at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, the Oregonian reported.

Wheeler expressed support for Portland police to use all "legal strategies" to prevent further violence or property damage. "Kettling," a controversial tactic in which police surround a crowd to confine it to one area, was one of the approved strategies.

The mayor noted that local Black Lives Matter leaders "have already stepped forward to denounce these self-described anarchists." Wheeler said he would work with local authorities to arrest and prosecute those who commit acts of violence.

"Together we can make a stand," Wheeler said. "We’re doing what we can today. I’m also asking for your help to make a stand and take our city back."

Within hours of Wheeler's public plea, police declared a riot in the northeast part of the city after rioters began damaging buildings. Two people were arrested.

Biden's 'catch and release' migrants without court dates total more than 15,300, Texas Democrat says

U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar, a Democrat, calls it an "honor system"

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/bidens-catch-and-release-migrants-without-court-dates-total-more-than-15300-texas-democrat-says

The number of migrants being fast-tracked for release without formal immigration court notices at the U.S.-Mexico border has reportedly increased by thousands since March to more than 15,300.

U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar, a Democrat from Texas, said the surge of migrants coming to the border has raised the number of arriving people on the "honor system" up thousands from around 2,000 at the end of March, according to Border Report.

The released migrants are given nothing more than what's known as a "385" form, or booking report, according to the outlet. The 385 form usually says the migrant needs to report to the nearest U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement station within a certain amount of days.

"It’s just a honor system that they are given and this is not the way it’s supposed to be," Cuellar, vice chairman of the House Appropriations Homeland Security Subcommittee, told Border Report last week.

Unaccompanied minors, who are not fast-tracked but always taken into immigration facilities run by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, are taking up space that would normally be used by other immigrants, according to Border Report, which cited immigration experts.

On Friday, Cueller wrote on Twitter, "If CBP expects more apprehensions this year than at any point in the past 2 decades, we need to create common-sense solutions that will address the current surge of migration."

He said he had already introduced related bipartisan legislation with Sens. John Cornyn, R-Texas, and Kyrsten Sinema, D-Ariz., and Rep. Tony Gonzalez, R-Texas.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security said in a statement, "In some cases, families are placed in removal proceedings further along in the release process rather than while they are at the border patrol station. All families, however, are screened at the border patrol station, including the collection of biographical and biometric information and criminal and national security records checks."

"It will be interesting to see how many of those (issued) 385s are going to show up," Cueller told Border Report.

Rand Paul: Biden White House Mask Alarmism Having a ‘Deleterious Effect,’ ‘Discouraging People from Getting the Vaccine’

https://archive.ph/vJvIU

Friday, during an appearance on FNC’s “Fox News Primetime,” Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) criticized federal government officials, including National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director Dr. Anthony Fauci and President Joe Biden, for the promotion and justification of continued mask-wearing by the public, even in private situations.

Paul questioned the efficacy of fully vaccinated individuals wearing a mask and suggested the mask push could harm efforts to encourage vaccinations if the public does believe the vaccine has an impact on protecting against the COVID-19 virus.

“Well, because it is theater, he forgot that this theater was so ridiculous that people would call him out on it,” Paul said of Biden donning a mask during a Zoom call with world leaders. “Because here’s the thing is if I want to go visit the White House Republicans and Democrats who go visit, even though they’ve all been vaccinated or had the disease, they’re being tested with a deep sinus test.”

“And they’re being told that were the N95 masks to go in the White House, even though they’ve all been vaccinated,” he continued. “So, there is no science behind any of this. It’s fear-mongering. But it also has a deleterious effect, in that it’s discouraging people from getting the vaccine because they’re saying, well, if the vaccine doesn’t mean anything, it doesn’t seem to have any protective benefit, you get no benefit. You can’t quit wearing the mask. Some people are saying, ‘Why should I get it?’ And I think that’s the wrong attitude. But this is what’s coming from Biden and the so-called scientists that he’s putting forward.”

CNN’s Fareed Zakaria Met With Chinese Communist Party Think-Tank Linked To “Favorable Coverage” Junkets.

https://thenationalpulse.com/exclusive/fareed-zakaria-visited-ccp-think-tank/

The latest information adds to the plethora of evidence that Zakaria – one of CNN’s leading anchors – is closely linked with the Chinese Communist Party.

Zakaria visited the “government-affiliated” Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS) during his stint as an editor for Newsweek. During the trip, he met with the group’s president, vice president, and various directors.

SIIS is linked to the Chinese Communist Party’s foreign influence campaign through its board member Tung Chee-Hwa, who serves as the Vice-Chairman of the “highest-ranking entity overseeing” China’s United Work Front Department, according to the U.S.-China Security and Economic Review Commission.

The effort aims “to co-opt and neutralize sources of potential opposition to the policies and authority of its ruling Chinese Communist Party” and “influence foreign governments and other actors to take actions or adopt positions supportive of Beijing’s preferred policies,” according to the U.S.-China Security and Economic Review Commission.

In addition to advising the think tank, Tung has repeatedly attended SIIS events including its 50th anniversary, hosted SIIS leaders at his events, and even funded SIIS research.

Tung also founded and leads the China-United States Exchange Foundation (CUSEF), previously exposed by The National Pulse for sponsoring trips to China for mainstream corporate media outlets in exchange for “favorable coverage.” As revealed through Foreign Agent Registration Act (FARA) filings with the Department of Justice, the group’s explicit goal of the trips is to “effectively disseminate positive messages to the media, key influencers, and opinion leaders, and the general public.”

Dubbed “familiarization trips,” the criteria for participants included “effectiveness and opportunities for favorable coverage”:

“In order to develop favorable coverage in key national media, BLJ will continue to organize and staff “familiarization trips” to China. This includes recruiting top journalists to travel to China, selected for effectiveness and opportunities for favorable coverage.”

Despite SIIS overt ties to Chinese Communist Party influence operations, Zakaria met with think tank officials according to a previously unreported press release:

“June 4: Dr. Fareed Zakaria, editor of Newsweek’s international edition, author of The Post-American World, famous journalist and commentator, visited SIIS and talked with President Yang Jiemian, Vice President Chen Dongxiao, Director Ma Ying of Asia-Pacific Studies, Director Wu Chunsi of American Studies, Director Ye Qing of Research Management & International Exchanges about Sino-American relations.”

Zakaria’s unearthed SIIS ties follow National Pulse reports revealing Zakaria’s extensive Chinese Communist Party ties, including serving as a Guest Lecturer at Tsinghua University’s state-run, “Marxist” journalism school.

Zakaria has also attended conferences alongside Xi Jinping and is a former member of the Berggrruen Institute’s “21st Century Council,” which is linked to the Chinese Communist Party’s campaign to promote over 10,000 propaganda pieces to foreign audiences.

Reporter won’t say if ‘sexy blonde’ who targeted Papadopoulos worked for FBI

https://nypost.com/2019/05/03/reporter-wont-say-if-sexy-blonde-who-targeted-papadopoulos-worked-for-fbi/

https://archive.ph/bFoPI

A reporter who exposed how the FBI sent a blond bombshell to question a Trump campaign about suspected collusion with Russia won’t say if she’s actually a G-woman — fueling suspicion the woman may work for the CIA or another spy agency.

During an interview on CNN, New York Times reporter Adam Goldman didn’t answer directly when asked if the woman, who called herself Azra Turk, was “an FBI agent.”

“I’m just, what I’m gonna, I’m just gonna leave it at right now as a government investigator,” Goldman stammered.

“I use that, I use that, I use that wording for a reason, and I’m going to leave it at that.”

Goldman’s remarks prompted former Trump campaign adviser George Papadopoulos — who was targeted by Turk during a 2016 meeting in London — to tweet Friday afternoon that he’s long believed Turk wasn’t a fed.

“As I have mentioned numerous times. She acted and looked like CIA and also had links to Turkish intelligence.”

In his memoir, “Deep State Target,” Papadopoulos described Turk as a “sexy bottle blonde in her 30s” who “isn’t shy about showing her curves — as if anyone could miss them.”

He also told members of Congress last year that she seemed willing to trade sex for information when they met for drinks in a London bar.

During his Thursday night appearance on “Anderson Cooper 360,” Goldman — who had the first of three bylines on the Times’ report — said that “at this point, nobody is providing any evidence that the FBI actually committed wrongdoing.”

“They were simply being aggressive when it came to what they say is a lawfully predicated investigation — though an extraordinary one,” Goldman said.

Worrying new clues about the origins of Covid: How scientists at Wuhan lab helped Chinese army in secret project to find animal viruses (1/2)

- Scientists at Wuhan lab were on massive project investigating animal viruses

- Documents obtained by The Mail on Sunday have revealed a nationwide scheme

- It was being directed by leading state body, which was launched nine years ago

-Its aim was to find new viruses and detect 'dark matter' of biology involved in spreading disease - alongside military officials, despite denials of any such links

The truth about the origins of the virus continue to come out to the general public!

https://archive.ph/FqbTv

Scientists studying bat diseases at China's maximum-security laboratory in Wuhan were engaged in a massive project to investigate animal viruses alongside leading military officials – despite their denials of any such links.

Documents obtained by The Mail on Sunday reveal that a nationwide scheme, directed by a leading state body, was launched nine years ago to discover new viruses and detect the 'dark matter' of biology involved in spreading diseases.

One leading Chinese scientist, who published the first genetic sequence of the Covid-19 virus in January last year, found 143 new diseases in the first three years of the project alone.

The fact that such a virus-detection project is led by both civilian and military scientists appears to confirm incendiary claims from the United States alleging collaboration between the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) and the country's 2.1 million-strong armed forces.

The scheme's five team leaders include Shi Zhengli, the WIV virologist nicknamed 'Bat Woman' for her trips to find samples in caves, and Cao Wuchun, a senior army officer and government adviser on bioterrorism.

Prof Shi denied the US allegations last month, saying: 'I don't know of any military work at the WIV. That info is incorrect.'

Yet Colonel Cao is listed on project reports as a researcher from the Academy of Military Medical Sciences of the People's Liberation Army, works closely with other military scientists and is director of the Military Biosafety Expert Committee.

Cao, an epidemiologist who studied at Cambridge University, even sits on the Wuhan Institute of Virology's advisory board. He was second-in-command of the military team sent into the city under Major General Chen Wei, the country's top biodefence expert, to respond to the new virus and develop a vaccine.

The US State Department also raised concerns over risky 'gain of function' experiments to manipulate coronaviruses at the Wuhan lab and suggested researchers fell sick with Covid-like symptoms weeks before the outbreak emerged more widely in the Chinese city.

Last month, Britain, the US and 12 other countries criticised Beijing for refusing to share key data and samples after a joint World Health Organisation and Chinese study into the pandemic's origins dismissed a lab leak as 'extremely unlikely'.

Filippa Lentzos, a biosecurity expert at King's College London, said the latest disclosures fitted 'the pattern of inconsistencies' coming from Beijing.

'They are still not being transparent with us,' she said. 'We have no hard data on the pandemic origins, whether it was a natural spill-over from animals or some kind of accidental research-related leak, yet we're unable to get straight answers and that simply does not inspire confidence.'

Worrying new clues about the origins of Covid: How scientists at Wuhan lab helped Chinese army in secret project to find animal viruses (2/2)

The documents obtained by The Mail on Sunday detail a major project called 'the discovery of animal-delivered pathogens carried by wild animals', which set out to find organisms that could infect humans and investigate their evolution.

It was launched in 2012 and funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China. The project was led by Xu Jianguo, who boasted at a conference in 2019 that 'a giant network of infectious disease prevention and control is taking shape'.

The professor also headed the first expert group investigating Covid's emergence in Wuhan. He denied human transmission initially, despite evidence from hospitals, then insisted in mid-January 'this epidemic is limited and will end if there are no new cases next week'.

One review of his virus-hunting project admitted 'a large number of new viruses have been discovered, causing great concern in the international virology community'.

It added that if pathogens spread to humans and livestock, they could cause new infectious diseases 'posing a great threat to human health and life safety and may cause major economic losses, even affect social stability'.

An update in 2018 said that the scientific teams – who published many of their findings in international journals – had found four new pathogens and ten new bacteria while 'more than 1,640 new viruses were discovered using metagenomics technology'. Such research is based on extraction of genetic material from samples such as those collected by Prof Shi from bat faeces and blood in the cave networks of southern China.

Such extensive sampling led to Prof Shi's rapid revelation last year of RaTG13, the closest known relative to the new strain of coronavirus that causes Covid.

It was stored at the Wuhan lab, the biggest repository of bat coronaviruses in Asia.

It later emerged she changed its name from another virus identified in a previous paper, thus obscuring its link to three miners who died from a strange respiratory disease they caught clearing bat droppings.

Prof Shi also admitted that eight more unidentified SARS viruses had been collected in the mine. The institute took its database of virus samples offline in September 2019, just a few weeks before Covid cases exploded in Wuhan.

A comment was made on social media after Colonel Cao published a paper on a fatal tick bite, saying he and Prof Shi 'can always find a virus that has never been found in humans', adding: 'I suspect this is another so-called 'scientific research' made in the laboratory.'

In recent years, China's military has ramped up its hiring of scientists after President Xi Jinping said this was a key element in the nation's march for global supremacy.

Lianchao Han, a dissident who used to work for the Chinese government, said Cao's involvement raised suspicions that military researchers who are experts in coronaviruses might also be involved in bio-defence operations.

'Many have been working with Western research institutes for years to steal our know-hows but China still refuses to share critical information a year after the pandemic has killed over three million.'

David Asher, an expert on biological, chemical and nuclear proliferation, who led State Department inquiries into the origins of Covid-19, said: 'The Chinese have made it clear they see biotechnology as a big part of the future of hybrid warfare. The big question is whether their work in these fields is offensive or defensive.'
