‘Shark Tank’ investor Daymond John blasted for praising Louis Farrakhan speech

“Shark Tank” investor Daymond John is taking heat over a since-deleted tweet praising the remarks delivered by controversial religious leader Louis Farrakhan at DMX’s funeral on Sunday. “What a powerful speech from Minister Louis Farrakhan for the #dmxfuneral,” John wrote on the social media site. “His deep understanding of the Bible and respect for other people’s religions was truly inspiring. #RIPDMX,” the Brooklyn-born FUBU founder continued. Commenters quickly called out John for his support of Farrakhan, pointing to his checkered past. “Wait, what? He’s made dozens of anti-Semitic statements,” one user wrote. Another Twitter commenter said: “Respect for other religions? He’s a vicious antisemite and seems proud of it.” “This is absolutely sickening. Unreal,” said a third person.

Later Sunday, John deleted the post and sent out a follow-up statement in an attempt to clarify his comments. “In regards to my tweet regarding DMXs funeral, my comments on Minister Farrakhan were only related to what I just witnessed tonight, unbeknownst to his prior stances,” John wrote. “As someone who was fortunate enough to have a step dad of the Jewish faith, I do not condone and never would condone and anti Semitic, prejudice or any remarks of hatred,” he said. In decades of public life, Farrakhan has attacked Jewish people as “satanic,” publicly questioned the Holocaust and condemned Judaism as a “dirty religion.” On Sunday, Farrakhan spoke via video at DMX’s private funeral service, touching on the legendary rapper’s global influence. “DMX is who he was and who he is, and the reason he has affected the people in the hip-hop genre and human beings across the globe is because he was genuine,” Farrakhan said.

Kanye West helps raise $1 million for DMX’s family with tribute T-shirt

Kanye West — a close friend of the late DMX — helped raise $1 million for the late rapper’s family through the sale of tribute T-shirts, sources said. West, through his Yeezy brand, commissioned Balenciaga to design the T-shirt that, at $200 a piece, sold out within 24 hours over the weekend, according to sources. The proceeds will be given to the family of DMX, who was remembered Sunday at a private funeral service at Brooklyn’s Christian Cultural Center. A day earlier, DMX — whose real name is Earl Simmons — was honored at a Brooklyn Barclays Center memorial attended by Yeezy. West, who kept a low profile at the ceremony, also lent a helping hand with Saturday’s stage set-up, sources said. He recruited esteemed visual artist Akeem Smith to help design the layout. Saturday’s memorial featured performances by Kanye West’s Sunday Service Choir, and words of grief and remembrance from New York hip-hop artists including Nas, Jadakiss, Eve and Swizz Beatz.

President Trump says Project Veritas proves CNN committed campaign violations

President Trump commented on a recent report by Project Veritas that covered CNN’s bias. In an interview that aired Friday, Trump called the work done by investigative reporter James O’Keefe “incredible.” The report uncovered CNN’s intentions behind their coverage by showing their mission was to get President Trump out of the White House. The 45th President said this — and other actions that were taken by the network as well as left-wing media sites — constituted campaign violations. “Zuckerberg — when he puts out $500 million for lockboxes, that is a campaign violation,” President Trump said. “You can’t do that. You know, you are allowed to give $5,600. How can a person put up $500 million for lockboxes? And in Georgia, by the way, they’re still allowing lockboxes. You can’t have those lockboxes, there’s nobody there. There’s nobody to watch it.” In the meantime, Project Veritas is suing Twitter for seemingly trying to protect CNN’s image.

Moar Info here:

A mystery: Why is the Pentagon sitting on four percent of all internet addresses?

Snippet:

After weeks of wonder by the networking community, the Pentagon has now provided a very terse explanation for what it’s doing. But it has not answered many basic questions, beginning with why it chose to entrust management of the address space to a company that seems not to have existed until September. The military hopes to “assess, evaluate and prevent unauthorized use of DoD IP address space,” said a statement issued Friday by Brett Goldstein, chief of the Pentagon’s Defense Digital Service, which is running the project. It also hopes to “identify potential vulnerabilities” as part of efforts to defend against cyber-intrusions by global adversaries, who are consistently infiltrating U.S. networks, sometimes operating from unused internet address blocks. The statement did not specify whether the “pilot project” would involve outside contractors.

Okay, so the Pentagon is at least admitting that they do control all of these addresses (primarily through DARPA) and they are doing something related to the prevention of hacking and cyberspying by our adversaries. Fair enough. But what about the contractor that is supposedly managing all of this virtual real estate? That’s where the story gets even stranger. The firm making the announcement is called Global Resource Systems LLC. A thorough search of related records traces GRS to a rental space above a bank in Plantation, Florida. The company’s name doesn’t appear on the building’s directory and it has no website or email address of record. When the AP asked a receptionist at the building about GRS she had no idea what they were talking about. The only name associated with the company (aside from a California lawyer who apparently handled getting it incorporated in Delaware) is that of Raymond Saulino. He was the CEO of a company named Packet Forensics which has held millions of dollars in government contracts with DARPA for cybersecurity/internet surveillance work, so at least that kind of makes sense. But nobody seems to be able to reach the guy for comment and a former partner of his told the AP that he thought Saulino was retired.

Making things even murkier is the fact that the name of the company – Global Resource Systems – is the same as another company that used the same Florida address but shut down ten years ago after allegations of computer fraud. And this new version of GRS now controls more internet space than China Telecom, AT&T or Comcast, according to the AP report. The only other question the Pentagon answered on the subject was to say that none of the 175 million addresses have been sold off. So what’s actually going on? If the military is just engaging in some massive counterterrorism work in cyberspace and doesn’t want to reveal the details, that’s certainly understandable. But the key players involved and the way this is all being handled certainly makes it look fishy.
