Don't call it an injection.

Who is allowed to give injections besides doctors, paramedics and nurses?

Giving injections is a learned, attainable skill. If properly instructed, patients, family members, pharmacists or any competent individual can give an injection. It still takes a medical order for the medicine/vaccine to be administered and supplies ordered, but anyone who has been shown how to properly and safely do the injection is qualified. eg, Diabetics or family members perform injections multiple times daily, there are patients who are on weekly or bi weekly, monthly injection regimens who perform their injections at home. A licesensed Pharmacist is legally permitted and trained in giving vaccinations such as Flu, Pneumonia, Varicella, Shingles, etc. Ancillary healthcare workers such as Certified Medical Assistants are also trained and give tons of shots a week in practice or clinical settings.
