Chinese Navy commissions 1st amphibious assault ship

About 2,400 people attended the ceremony at the naval port in Sanya, including President Xi Jinping, who is the chairman of the Central Military Commission. The event coincided with the 72nd anniversary of the establishment of the navy. The amphibious assault ship is a Type 075 helicopter carrier called the Hainan that the navy wants to deploy as soon as possible. The ship was launched in Shanghai in September 2019.

Also commissioned the same day were a 10,000-ton Type 055 guided-missile destroyer, the largest of its class in Asia, and a new type of strategic nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine, which can target the U.S. mainland with its arsenal.
