Just went to the grocery store and as I was getting out of my car, I saw an older gentleman wearing a veterans hat. I thanked him for his service. He turned to me with such a huge smile and said not many of us left. I had assumed Vietnam. When he turned his head it said WWII.
Found out he was 98! Looked about 80, and a general surgeon. He performed the first surgery at the largest hospital in town. He had to "sneak out of the retirement home". They have not been allowed to leave for 14 months. He said enough is enough. He won't be silenced anymore
He has not worn a mask in the last year. No one is allowed to leave their apartment at his retirement complex. He contacted a team of attorneys and said "what can I do?" They said leave, if they try to stop you from going home, call us. We will win royally.
