The IDOL SHEPHARD who does ABANDON THE FLOCK.

But they don't care about us (and worse).

A black eye is "utterly darkened".
They were shown to the people for what they are:
Idols and so called shephards who don't care about the flock.
Someone gave them an "utterly darkened" eye,
