Just read Operation Paperclip by Annie Jacobsen.
Documented and sauced all to hell and back, to the tune of dozens of pages of footnotes in the back of the book. Author did a TON of legwork, went to DOD archives and all kinds of obscure file sites that are technically "open", but not online. She also personally interviewed a great number of key individuals who could finally speak out (as very old men) after it was all declassified.
A ton of Nazis got out and lived out their lives in South America.
Russia took some, but the USA got the majority of them as war booty.
Brought them back here with their entire families, gave them homes & jobs. They never paid taxes (@#%&@#%*).
OSS made their pasts just go away.
One of the best books I've read in last 20 years, recommended. There are numerous lectures of hers on YT, check them out.
