The asteroid/cataclysmic aspect aside…..

That anon has it correct about the wealth of the solar system.

More than just the gold, but diamonds to plain old iron, a new era of mining is on our horizon

Not only for metals or minerals, but things such as gasses such as Helium-3.

2Ft from the stage as they rocked Dust in the Wind… Looed into Joan's eyes as she sang Crimson & Clover less than 5ft away…

Experienced them as real, but was just a fan in attendance.

One of the shorts of the Med Ship Saga by Murray Leinster has the basis for the new Netfilx Stowaway…

Nothing new under the sun… Have to love the classics…

A Logic Named Joe springs to mind…

But as far as Aliens I would thing Greg Bear's The Forge of God would be more likely, or Travis S. Taylor's Von Neumann's War as maybe most likely as scernioes or variations.

Tech is Magic, the more advanced the tech, the greater the seeming magic.

We are still quite primitive, yet we have been advancing exponentially. This terrifies the magicians that have held us in thrall throughout our history.
