Ayers/Obama. They go way back according to stories. I remember story of mail guy who talked to Obama in Chi-Town when Obama was about 10 or so. Obama told the mailman that he (Obama) was going to be president some day. Can't vouch for the veracity, just saw that story pop up in a lot of places.
Want to say it all had to do with Ford Foundation connections in Asia. Tim Geithner's father, for example, was involved with the Ford Foundation and Obama's mother. Geithner not Chicago, but his name pops up as knowing Obama from childhood, and entering the administration.
