Figure the first week is to test procedures and protocols and to determine the time necessary and if it is worth the trouble/expense.
Take away, to me, of adding more people and not limiting the time is that it is worth the trouble/expense.

Agree. Bigger question, to me, is, why would they want that if the Bidan administration was going to go full term and be re-elected easily by a citizenry satisfied with life after Trump?
They wouldn't, IMO, which is a sign Trump is on the way back and those ex-cons are needed for the resulting protests. Same deal with the illlegal border crossers.
Figure any reasonably sentient American will be ready to string up the election fraud perps, rather than riot, so the dems need non-American or disaffected American grunts to do the rioting.
