Consider the possibility that today Babylon represents organized religion in an attempt to be the mediator between mankind and the Creator. (which aligns with your post but not exclusively)

If the Creator is eternal with no beginning or end then it would take an eternity to get to know the Creator, therefore the 'next age' would be a continuation of this ages' journey (only with true clarity)?
