He was a traitor to both sides.
i'll add this in, go find my source, and report back - but i found a forum discussing his patents, and the ONLY thing he makes money on is video conferencing.
all of his other patents are design patents, and effectively worthless - only for him to say he's got patents.
regarding raniere's patents:
a good breakdown here:

(in short, offered by the reviewer, circa 2008
So, to offer a summary for people who don't feel like doing all this reading themselves:
Keith Raneire seems to have patented video-conferencing, and likely made a fortune off of it
He has no other current patents of any particular value.
He has tried to patent his method of Rational Inquiry, but it has thus far been denied because it is unclear, and it is not much different from a method described by certain Mr. Price in a 1997 article.
Any documents that are used during ESP seminars and individual sessions are viewable at the link provided above. )
that link is to an a capella forum. it's an amazing story, and i told it in the raniere thread, but nobody really saw it, i imagine. clare bronfman, lauren salzman, keith raniere - they all post in it. it's all archived, you can click through all the pages of the thread.
