EU IS DYING: Macron’s shocking admission European dream is nearing its demise

FRENCH President Emmanuel Macron has offered a jaw-dropping admission that the European Union dream is nearing its demise as Angela Merkel drags her feet over a series of reforms for the bloc.

ANONS—Just a few weeks after their visit with Potus…it looks like the EU is starting to loose it's hold.

Mr Macron’s plans are seemingly at odds with EU boss Jean-Claude Juncker who admit there is no future in the “United States of Europe” vision being chased by the Frenchman.

Before accepting his prize, Mr Macron wrote on Twitter: “The European dream is now gnawed by doubt.

“It’s up to us to decide whether we want to live it or let it die.”

His comments will come as a blow to Ms Merkel, who heaped praise on her French counterpart during her own speech at the prize-giving ceremony in Aachen, Germany.

She said: “With Emmanuel Macron, a dynamic young politician has entered the European stage, for whom European integration and the common currency are a clear course.”

And with Germany seemingly standing in the way of Mr Macron’s Eurozone revolution, the German Chancellor admit discussions on the topic are “difficult” between Paris and Berlin.

Ms Merkel added: “The European economic and currency union must be made more sustainable.

“We will make the eurozone more crisis-proof.”

Despite Berlin often pouring cold water on his plans, Mr Macron was adamant the bloc pushes on with his reforms

“One of the reasons why the EU has lost the support of the population is that the EU and the Commission are giving the impression of taking care of everything instead of dealing with the big issues that concern people.

“I was careful to specify, some did not like it, that I was against this idea of the EU becoming the United States of Europe.

“It's not my view of things. We are Flemish, Belgian, Luxembourgish, Catalan – European.”

Fears of eruption of Middle East violence which could bring the world closer to war are growing after Syria said Israel carried out an attack on a military base which was used by Iranian forces south of Damascus.

The United States on Thursday condemned Iran's "provocative rocket attacks" from Syria and supported Israel's right to defend itself.

In a huge display of force, military units from the US, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Georgia, UK, Italy, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Hungary, Macedonia, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Romania and Slovakia attended the military drill on the border of the Middle East.

In a statement, the White House said: "The Iranian regime's deployment into Syria of offensive rocket and missile systems aimed at Israel is an unacceptable and highly dangerous development for the entire Middle East."

America said Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps "bears full responsibility for the consequences of its reckless actions".

Israeli jets have already retaliated by bombing Damascus and shelling Iranian bases in Syria in their biggest barrages against the region since 2011.

Israeli military spokesman, Lieutenant-Genral Jonathan Conricus, discussed Iranian aggression, telling reporters: “It was ordered and commanded by Qassem Soleimani and it has not achieved its purpose.

Following last night’s attacks, Russia has announced Moscow will remain friendly with Iran - a move which show’s Mr Putin’s fury at Mr Trump’s decision to scrap the deal - while calling for calm.

Russia's foreign ministry said the Kremlin will maintain close coordination on nuclear issues with Iran despite the US quitting the international agreement.

In stark contrast, the White House condemned Iran's "provocative rocket attacks" from Syria and said it supported Israel's right to defend itself.

The Latest: Merkel condemns Iranian attacks in Rouhani call

Chancellor Angela Merkel’s office says the German leader has condemned an Iranian rocket barrage on Israeli positions in the Golan Heights in a phone conversation with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.

She also reaffirmed European powers’ continued support for the Iran nuclear deal.

Merkel’s office said the two leaders spoke Thursday. It said in a statement that Merkel underlined the support of Germany, France and Britain for the nuclear deal so long as Tehran continues to fulfill its obligations under that agreement. Merkel advocated opening talks with Iran on its ballistic missile programs and its activities in countries such as Syria and Yemen.

The statement said Merkel condemned the overnight attacks on Israeli positions “and called on Iran to contribute to de-escalation in the region.” It didn’t say how Rouhani responded.

Rep. Ted Lieu, a notorious Trump critic, praised the president for securing the release of three American hostages from North Korea.

Lieu gave the president credit during a Thursday morning interview with CNN, a move so rare for the California congressman that even CNN noted that he “doesn’t like anything that President Trump does.”

“Congressman Ted Lieu, who doesn’t like anything that President Trump does, just on the show a few minutes ago, saying he supports this meeting,” CNN said after his interview.

“Yes, I believe the Trump administration deserves credit for bringing these hostages back from North Korea,” Lieu said, adding that he doesn’t think North Korea should get any credit.

“I served on active duty under U.S. Pacific Command. And it’s very clear that the United States has exactly zero good military options against North Korea,” Lieu continued. “That’s why I’m very pleased that diplomacy is taking center stage. I support the president speaking with the leader of North Korea at the summit. I hope the summit is successful.”

The ‘Russian Collusion’ Trial Is On, And Mueller May Be The First Casualty

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Lawyers for Russian company Concord Management and Consulting, LLC, formally entered a “not guilty” plea in federal court Monday in a case special counsel Robert Mueller probably never thought would happen.

Mueller, weathering significant criticism that his Russian collusion case was thin, unveiled a grandiose indictment Feb. 16 against 13 Russian nationals and three Russian companies. The 13 Russians in question were charged with waging “information warfare” in the United States, interfering with the 2016 presidential election, and conspiracy to defraud the United States.

Mueller generated headlines with the February indictment, safe in the knowledge the 13 Russians were beyond U.S. jurisdiction. Therefore, there would be no trial — only sensational Russian collusion accusations.

Mueller may now have to try the case, and Concord’s lawyers have put the special counsel on notice. The Russian company’s lawyers intend to invoke “discovery” to obtain U.S. intelligence about what they knew of Russian activities.
