I don’t know how this is shocking

The U.S. economy added just 266,000 jobs in April and the unemployment rate ticked up to 6.1 percent, the Labor Department said in its monthly labor assessment Friday, smashing expectations.

This was far below expectations. Analysts surveyed by Econoday had predicted Friday’s report would show between 755,000 and 1.25 million workers added to payrolls in April. The median forecast was for 938,000 and an unemployment rate of 5.8 percent.

The disappointing number for April could be a sign that hiring is being held back by enhanced unemployment benefits and schools that have not reopened full time, requiring some parents to stay home to take care of children. Many businesses say that they cannot hire enough workers to fill positions because of the government’s enhanced unemployment benefits program.

The economy has outperformed expectations on many metrics this year as vaccinations have boosted business and consumer confidence and restrictions on businesses have been lifted. Friday’s employment numbers represent a rare miss for expectations.

In April, average hourly earnings increased by 21 cents to $30.17, a 0.7 percent increase, following a decline of 4 cents in the prior month. Average hourly earnings for private-sector production and nonsupervisory employees rose by 20 cents to $25.45.

“The data for April suggest that the rising demand for labor associated with the recovery from the pandemic may have put upward pressure on wages,” the Department of Labor said.

The jobs number for February was revised up by 68,000, from 468,000 to 536,000. March was revised down by 146,000, from 916,000

to 770,000. With these revisions, employment in February and March combined is 78,000 lower than previously reported.

Leisure and hospitality added 331,000, including 187,000 jobs in restaurants and bars. Those figures are lower than what many analysts expected given that many states and cities lifted or eased restrictions on dining and drinking businesses in April.

Construction was flat for the month, a surprising result given the strength of the housing market.

Manufacturing shed 18,000 jobs, led down by automaker employment declining by 27,000. Wood product producers shed 7,000 jobs, perhaps reflecting extremely high prices for lumber.

The messenger and. courier business shed 77,000 jobs in April, making it one of the biggest declining categories. The reason for that is not at all clear.

Employment at food and beverage stores fell by 49,400. Gas station employment fell by 8,900.

The temporary administrative help services sector contracted by 111,000 jobs in April.

The private sector overall added 218,000 jobs and governments added 48,000.

The labor force participation rate climbed to 61.7 percent, up two-tenths of a percentage point from March.

In April, 18.3 percent of workers performed their jobs remotely because of the coronavirus pandemic, down from 21.0 percent in the prior month.

The number of people saying they had been unable to work because their employer closed or lost business due to the pandemic declined to 9.2 million, from 11.4 million in the previous month. Among those who reported in April that they were unable to work because of pandemic-related closures or lost business, 9.3 percent received at least some pay from their employer for the hours not worked, little changed

from the previous month.

Among those not in the labor force in April, 2.8 million persons were prevented from looking for work due to the pandemic. This measure is down from 3.7 million the month before.

This explains there was no brain born with that body

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) claimed Thursday she is a “planned parenthood baby” after her mother used the organization for prenatal care when she was pregnant.

In a long-winded response during a subcommittee hearing on Thursday, Ocasio-Cortez attempted to lambast Republicans for their pro-life agenda:

First and foremost, I don’t want to hear a single person on this committee or outside of this committee talk about valuing life when they continue to uphold the death penalty, when they continue to support policies that disproportionately incarcerate and lead to the deaths of black men and people throughout this country, and uphold and absolutely unjust medical system that exists for profit that allows people to die because they can’t afford to live.

Ocasio-Cortez then began her discussion on Planned Parenthood, claiming she herself is a “Planned Parenthood baby.”

“If we want to talk about Planned Parenthood, let’s talk about how many lives Planned Parenthood has saved and how many babies have been born because of the prenatal care provided by Planned Parenthood,” Ocasio-Cortez said.

“If you don’t believe it and if you’ve never met a Planned Parenthood baby, I’m happy to let you know that I am one,” Ocasio-Cortez added, telling viewers that her “mother received and relied on prenatal care from Planned Parenthood when she was pregnant with me.”

“If we’re concerned about life, we don’t get to talk about anyone else who’s not concerned about the full spectrum of that when we are upholding policies that kill people,” she concluded.

Iraqi President Claims Baghdad Hosted Secret Saudi-Iran Talks ‘More than Once’

This headline sounds like a Q post

Iraqi President Barham Salih claimed in an interview on Wednesday that Baghdad has “more than once” hosted secret talks between Saudi Arabia and Iran.

The Financial Times reported on April 18 that a single round of direct talks between Saudi and Iranian officials quietly occurred in Baghdad on April 9. The discussions were focused on the civil war in Yemen, where Saudi Arabia and Iran have intervened on different sides.

Saudi intelligence chief Khalid bin Ali al-Humaidan reportedly led his country’s delegation, while Iranian Supreme National Security Council secretary Ali Shamkhani led his. Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi “facilitated” the discussion.

Kadhimi is reportedly on good personal terms with Saudi Arabia’s crown prince and de facto chief executive, Mohammed bin Salman, but Kadhimi’s efforts to improve relations with Iran last year noticeably angered the Saudis.

“The prime minister is very keen to personally play a role in turning Iraq into a bridge between these antagonistic powers in the region. It’s in Iraq’s interest that it can play this role,” an Iraqi official explained to the Financial Times.

Saudi and Iranian officials generally denied such a meeting took place, or refused to comment, but Salih said Wednesday that in truth more than one round of Saudi-Iran talks have been hosted in Baghdad. He provided no further details about the discussions.

“It is ongoing, and it is important and it is significant, and for Iraq to be able to play that convening role between these regional actors is important,” he said.

Salih added that he would like to see a resolution to strife between the United States and Iran as well.

“The Middle East has been condemned to a cycle of conflict and instability over the last few decades,” he said. “It’s time to move beyond.”

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Tuesday refused to confirm reports that Saudi Arabia and Iran are quietly meeting in Baghdad, but added that “if they’re talking I think that’s generally a good thing.”

“Talking is usually better than the alternative. Does it lead to results? That’s another question,” Blinken mused.

Blinken said America, “when we’re acting at our best,” retains “a greater ability than any other country to mobilize others in positive, collective action,” but “if countries are talking directly together without us in the middle, that’s maybe even better.”

Research: 60% of School Apps Sending Student Data to Third Parties Without Parental Consent

Roughly 60 percent of school apps have been sending student data to a variety of potentially high-risk third parties, without the knowledge or consent of students or parents, according to research by the nonprofit organization Me2B Alliance.

Public school apps were found to be sending student data to third parties 67 percent of the time, while those used by private schools were sending data 57 percent of the time. Meanwhile, 18 percent of public school apps included “high-risk” third parties — meaning organizations that go on to share data with potentially hundreds or thousands of entities.

Me2B Alliance added that on average, there were more than ten third party data channels per app, and that Google Android apps are much more likely to be sending data to third parties, as well as to “high” or “very high-risk” third parties when compared to Apple iOS apps.

The organization said it audited a random sample of 73 apps from 38 different schools in 14 states across the United States, and covered over half a million people, including students, their families, and educators. The audit methodology mainly involved examining data flow from the apps to external third-parties.

Me2B Alliance added that “there is an unacceptable amount of student data shared with third parties — particularly advertisers and analytics platforms — in school apps,” and stressed that school apps should not be including third-party data channels.

“The findings from our research show the pervasiveness of data sharing with high-risk entities and the amount of people whose data could be compromised due to schools’ lack of resources,” said Lisa LeVasseur, executive director of Me2B Alliance.

“The study aims to bring these concerns to light to ensure the right funding support and protections are in place to safeguard our most vulnerable citizens — our children,” LeVasseur added

Punk Rocker John Joseph: ‘Cancel Culture Can Go F**k Themselves’

New York punk rocker John Joseph — vocalist for the bands Bloodclot and Cro-Mags — responded to backlash over a large punk show recently held in New York City, proclaiming “cancel culture can go fuck themselves” and adding that punk rock will “carry on what we’ve been doing for decades.”

Joseph said he and others were attacked after “the lying ass media” reported inaccuracies involving a recent outdoor punk show he and others put on in Tompkins Square Park, in New York City.

“Cancel culture can go fuck themselves,” Joseph affirmed, adding that critics of the NYC event “are the same ones who criticized punk rock in the 70s and hardcore in the 80s.”

“And they will all go away soon to live out [their] quiet lives of desperation while we carry on what we’ve been doing for decades,” he added.

The event was reported to be one of the largest city-permitted concerts in New York City since the start of the Chinese coronavirus pandemic, as thousands of attendees — who were not clad in masks — packed into Tompkins Square Park for the show.

Following the event, media reported that organizers were able to put on the show using a permit that listed the event as a 9/11 memorial — a claim that Joseph says is “total and complete bullshit.”

“Then the whole cancel culture shit ran with the story talking shit about each and every one of us who participated in the show,” Joseph said. “I don’t care about all you people that called it a super-spreader show and the rest of the bullshit you talked – there has not been one case of COVID reported.”

The punk rocker explained that the show was put on because “we decided to take a stand and open back up our stages and our way of life,” adding, “just because some of you don’t agree with it I could give a fuck less.”

“Stay the fuck home, watch CNN and the rest,” Joseph advised his critics. “I never gave a shit what critics said in the 70s and 80s and I still don’t care.”

Joseph’s remarks arrive on the heels of Misfits founder Glenn Danzig calling out “cancel culture and woke bullshit,” adding that his band and “the punk explosion” could never happen today, because “everyone’s so uptight and P.C.”

Moreover, Sex Pistols frontman John Lydon — also known as Johnny Rotten — recently called “wokeness” a divisive political weapon being wielded by privileged, “tempestuous, spoilt children,” whom the media offer a platform to push their unpopular politically correct opinions.

Study: Joe Biden Given Least Negative News Coverage of Any President in Last 30 Years

Let that sink in….

President Joe Biden has received the least negative news coverage from the establishment media of any president in the last 30 years.

According to the Pew Research Center, Biden received in his first 60 days 19 percent negative news coverage, ranking him the most favored of presidents in the last three decades.

Biden’s ranking, compared by the Washington Examiner, is well below former Presidents Bill Clinton’s (28 percent), George W. Bush’s (28 percent), Barack Obama’s (20 percent), and Donald Trump’s (62 percent) negative coverage.

Besides disclosing Biden’s limited amount of negative news coverage, the study also revealed Biden’s least covered topic was his “political skills,” while his most covered topic was the economy. However, Trump’s most covered topic was his “political skills,” while his least covered topic was the economy.

The study, which analyzed radio, websites, national newspaper websites, and cable and network broadcasts, determined the “Early news coverage of Biden and Trump presidencies differed in tone, topic, and framing.”

Indeed, New York Times political page Thursday ran these headlines simultaneously: “Taking ‘Extraordinary Measures,’ Biden Backs Suspending Patents on Vaccines” and “Facebook Ban Hits Trump Where It Hurts: Messaging and Money.”

On billionaire Jeff Bezos’s Washington Post political page, the headlines simultaneously read: “Strongmen who got cozy with Trump get the cold shoulder from Biden” and “Live updates: Biden heading to Louisiana to highlight aging infrastructure as he presses Congress to act.”

A quick search on “the most trusted name in news’s” political page, CNN headlines simultaneously read: “Trump aides flood Senate and gubernatorial races as consultants and pollsters” and “Biden to criticize tax cuts for wealthy while pushing middle-class agenda in Louisiana.”

I did it again yesterday, was at the dentist and I asked the asst have you gotten a vaccine yet?She says well no I haven’t gotten around to it. I said, good I can’t be around people that are vaccinated. She looked so relieved and she said, yeah I’m not getting it, something strange about it.

Funny how relieved people are when I say, good!

I’m making friends, in a weird way!

Important Maricopa Ballot Update – GOP Chairwoman Kelli Ward Discusses Sec. Of State and DOJ Coordinating to Derail Audit

May 6, 2021 | Sundance | 277 Comments

After the DOJ Civil Rights Division sends a letter to the Arizona state senate, Arizona Chairwoman Kelli Ward gives an update on the coordinated democrat shenanigans.

As Ward notes, the Democrat Arizona Secretary of State is coordinating with the DOJ in an effort to block the audit from continuing. The auditors and the State senate need our support as the feds start to target the effort.Unfortunately, I suspect that somewhere, sometime, at some point in this battle, the legal fight is going to end up at the U.S. Supreme Court.

Maybe fortunately!

I saw a lady at the elevator without I mask, I never wear one. Got in the elevator and said, I’m so glad to see one person without a mask, she started saying how awful it was to wear one, I said it’s a scam and she agreed. One Patriot at a time to wake up the world.

Did you ever see anyone wearing a mask that tried to smile, they can’t it’s been beaten out of them. They feel shame

I’m shameless, I got one idiot yelling at me, where’s you’re mask, 3x no less, I just ignored it and let the door slam behind me the two other times
