Legal showdown over Biden's deportation priorities set in Arizona court

The states claim the memo violated agreements Arizona and several other states signed with former President Donald Trump's outgoing administration that required the Department of Homeland Security to consult with them before implementing changes.

The lawsuit says states such as Arizona and Montana would be negatively impacted because it would lead to the release of "potentially dangerous individuals."

"It is illegal and unconscionable for the federal government to force the release of dangerous criminals into Arizona communities when they are required to be deported by statute," Brnovich said Thursday in a written statement.
