I made a better boombox out of an old wooden wine crate, a salved cassette deck from an old stereo, and speakers from junkyard cars. It was way better sounding than the "awesome looking" new one the pretty-rich-kid had down the street… looked like ass, but blew his away as far as quality for both fidelity and loudness was the concern.
Price and looks doesn't equal quality.
