The background on this is a bit more mundane as it was my paternal grandfather's, whose middle name was Mack.

He was a master machinist and when someone gave him the bulldog, he mounted it atop an old firehouse bell. Been re-chromed once by my dad, though I may/may not do that before I hand it off.
