I never went to that favela, but I was here in the biggest favela in south america, when this video was taken in Rio de Janeiro.
Funny story, and only because the bowls have opened my communication pathways.
My last night in this favela, a transformer blew and the power went out at 2 am, 30 C (88 F) and nary a breath of a breeze.
My flight was at 11:30 am and I could not stay in that sweatbox till morning.
I decided to make my way down to the beach and enjoy the cool breeze off the ocean and then go to the airport. However, to get to the road to go on my merry way, I had to pass a couple of guys wearing AL-47s.
I couldn't understand why they were pointing at my suitcase and saying machine gun. And the dude with the machine became a little excited.
And then I was surrounded by a dozen guys with various weapons in their hands.
The armoured dude apologised and said he had to search my suitcase; it was his job. And it really was.
I was asked if I worked for the Civil Police or the Government and one of the guys recognised me and said, no, he's that Gringo who lives in blah blah blah.
I explained that I wasn't working for the police or the government, but was in fact working for the illuminati.
This broke the ice and everyone laughed.
But one thing that has puzzled me since, how did they know what I was talking about when I said illuminati but the average sheeple on the street wouldn't?
