Parents, this is Greenville County Schools letting you know masks continue to be mandated in our schools. The Governor issued an executive order late today that directs DHEC and the State Department of Education to provide an opt out form for parents who do not want their children to wear masks at schools, but the executive order appears to have contradictory language and does not provide a timeline for implementation. As a result, students are still required by the State Department of Education to wear a facial covering on buses and when entering and leaving schools. Additionally, GCS continues to follow DHEC guidelines that call for facial coverings whenever six feet of social distance cannot be maintained. We will update you when more information is available.
