Eight of 10 hospitalized COVID-19 patients developed neurologic complications and were six times more likely than their peers to die, according to early results from a global study published yesterday in JAMA Network Open.

Many of the conditions were mild to moderate, but half of the patients had altered brain function or structure, and almost one in five were in a coma.

Led by University of Pittsburgh researchers for the Global Consortium Study of Neurologic Dysfunction in COVID-19, the study involved 3,744 hospitalized adult COVID-19 patients at 28 centers in 13 countries from March to October 2020.

Rules for thee but not for me

Chief ethics and compliance officers have an especially difficult job right now, Comey said, because of the “populous wind” blowing on both sides of the political spectrum in the United States—a tense wind of public discourse, a palpable feeling in the air of people being fed up and wanting to see more individuals being held accountable for their misdeeds.

While those feelings are understandable, Comey said, “people have merged that with, ‘We can’t trust big companies. We can’t trust these big institutions.’ I think it becomes all the more important for you and your leadership to understand the danger in that and the responsibility that it brings to all of you.”

Moreover, the current environment places even greater pressure on the part of enforcement agencies to respond aggressively when people run afoul of the rules, or are perceived to run afoul, Comey added. For companies and culpable individuals, that means the risk of enforcement increases as well.

The socialist bubble that people know as Portland, Oregon, has collapsed into a lawless and chaotic society devoid of order and social compact. Anarchy runs the streets as Antifa and violent left-wing groups have been allowed to destroy the city without any consequence.

Portland politicians have enabled the collapse of the social order, and the Animal Farm lawlessness has forced businesses and citizens to escape in order to survive. Now the local media are starting to ask the bigger questions, yet they continue to ignore the obvious answers. The city is a violent crisis and complete mess because the city leadership allows the violent crisis and mess to exist. Yes, it really is that simple.
