NEW YORK – On Dec. 27, 2017, Gage Belitto was found dead in his Columbia University dormitory. The cause of death was declared an accidental overdose of opioids.

The Belitto family’s pain was intensified when the coroner ruled that Gage had died five days earlier, on Dec. 22. That was the same day that his uncle, Douglas, worried about his nephew’s well-being, arrived at the Upper West Side dorm and demanded entry.
