White House names failed OMB nominee Neera Tanden as senior Biden adviser

President Joe Biden's sole administration pick to fail in making it through Senate confirmation has landed a gig in the White House, after all.

CNN reported that according to a White House official, "Tanden will begin planning for potential policy changes that could result from the forthcoming US Supreme Court decision on Republican legal efforts to strike down the Affordable Care Act," in her new role.

The outlet noted that Tanden previously worked in the Obama administration. She most recently served as head of left-wing think tank Center for American Progress, and is reportedly "a close ally" of White House chief of staff Ron Klain.

Tanden's OMB nomination was derailed after hearings focused on several of her past tweets, wherein she attacked several of the senators who would weigh in on her fitness for the role.

Tanden hit out at several Republicans in now-deleted tweets, which resurfaced once her nomination was announced.

Sen. Rob Portman (R-Ohio) reminded her during a hearing:

"You wrote that [Sen.] Susan Collins (R-Maine) is 'the worst,' that [Sen.] Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) is a 'fraud,' that 'vampires have more heart' than [Sen.] Ted Cruz (R-Texas). You called [Senate Minority] Leader [Mitch] McConnell (R-Ky.) 'Moscow Mitch,' and 'Voldemort,' and on and on."

But the former OMB pick did not just attack Republicans. She also targeted democratic socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) during the Democratic presidential primary, prompting him to complain to the Center for American Progress at the time.

Tanden apologized to the Senate for "any hurt" that her "rhetoric" and "language" caused, and admitted that she spent months ahead of her nomination deleting social media posts.

The death knell to Tanden's nomination was when moderate Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin (W.Va.) announced that he would not approve her for the role in a Senate that is split 50-50.

Manchin said of Tanden in February, ""I believe her overtly partisan statements will have a toxic and detrimental impact on the important working relationship between members of Congress and the next director of the Office of Management and Budget," he explained. "For this reason, I cannot support her nomination."

Tanden's nomination was withdrawn in early March. OMB deputy director Shalanda Young is currently acting as interim chief until a permanent director is confirmed, The Washington Examiner reported.

COVID 'Billionaire Boom' Has Seen Aggregate Wealth More Than Double To $13 Trillion

America's billionaire class is now the second most "bloated" in the world after…Sweden?

If that sounds strange, it's just one example of how the global explosion in wealth is impacting the world in unexpected ways.

This is according to research by FT contributing editor Ruchir Sharma, who has been tracking the global rise of billionaires over the past decade while devising metrics to allow for an apples-to-apples comparison. In this way, Sharma has been able to determine whether individual billionaires derived their wealth from "good" sources ("clean" industries like tech or manufacturing) vs. "bad" billionaires who inherited their wealth, or built it in more corrupt corners of the economy, like real-estate or natural resources (primarily oil).

The tremendous surge in prices of assets from stocks, to homes, to used cars to collectibles has benefited the wealthy most of all. Last year, China led the world in billionaire-creation, with 238 billionaires created, roughly one every 36 hours, bringing the country's total to 626. In aggregate, billionaire wealth climbed to $13 trillion from $5 trillion in the span of a year.

Sharma highlighted wealth inequality across a group of developed and developing economies by comparing total billionaire wealth to GDP, the annual aggregate value of goods and services produced in a given economy.

Dominion Announces They Willingly Gave Passwords to Maricopa County Auditors in February — But Refuse to Give Passwords to State Senate Audit Team

On Thursday, Dominion stated they “voluntarily supply access to their election equipment only to vendors accredited by the U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC). We happily did so for the accredited providers (vendors) that Maricopa hired for auditing”. However, this is not true. According to audit vendor Pro V&V, Dominion Voting Systems (DVS) provided passwords directly to Maricopa Board of Election employees. And those employees logged into the equipment themselves, allowing auditors system access.

The Arizona Senate asked the County for Admin User level access. Pro V&V President Jack Cobb stated: “The Admin User and password have GOD powers. Note the Antrim County Michigan hack – where someone had Admin User and password access, and with that you can do anything. All databases in all industries need this function. The Super User login can perform any (Admin Level) function EXCEPT altering the SQL database. We don’t even ask for those credentials on a fielded system because they are so powerful there is a risk that we get accused of changing something.”

Mr. Cbb also said: “Neither Pro V&V or Maricopa County has the Admin User access passwords. Maricopa may have thought their Super User passwords were the Admin level but they are just Super Users passwords. We had them put in the passwords themselves. Maricopa could give these to the (Cyber Ninja) auditors and they still can’t do what they want. This is a “Red Herring”. The tabulators have redundant memory. The EMS is just an accumulator. I can delete and reload data as many times as I want as long as it is from a trusted source (SD, CF, or USB). On top of that there are printed paper tapes from each tabulator”.
