Fauci’s NIH and Gain of Function Mentions From Old Web Pages in Early 2021.

The Wuhan Institute of Virology scrubbed the U.S. National Institutes of Health as one of its research partners from its website in early 2021. The revelation comes despite Dr. Anthony Fauci insisting no relationship existed between the institutions.

Archived versions of the Wuhan lab’s site also reveal a research update – “Will SARS Come Back?” – appearing to describe gain-of-function research being conducted at the institute by entities funded by Dr. Anthony Fauci’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID).

On March 21st, 2021, the lab’s website listed six U.S.-based research partners: University of Alabama, University of North Texas, EcoHealth Alliance, Harvard University, The National Institutes of Health (NIH), the United States, and the National Wildlife Federation.

One day later, the page was revised to contain just two research partners – EcoHealth Alliance and the University of Alabama. By March 23rd, EcoHealth Alliance was the sole partner remaining.

EcoHealth Alliance is run by long-standing Chinese Communist Party-partner Dr. Peter Daszak, who National Pulse Editor-in-Chief Raheem Kassam has repeatedly claimed will be the first “fall guy” of the Wuhan lab debacle.

The Wuhan Institute of Virology’s decision to wipe the NIH from its website came amidst heightened scrutiny that the lab was the source of COVID-19 – and that U.S. taxpayer dollars from the NIH may have funded the research. The unearthing of the lab’s attempted coverup also follows a heated exchange between Senator Rand Paul and Fauci, who attempted to distance his organization from the Wuhan lab.

Yes, Dr. Fauci Lied To Rand Paul

When asked by Senator Rand Paul recently about funding for gain of function research at the Wuhan lab in China, Dr. Anthony Fauci had this response.

PAUL: “For years, Dr. Ralph Baric, a virologist in the U.S., has been collaborating with Dr. Shi Zhengli from the Wuhan Virology Institute, sharing his discoveries about how to create superviruses. This gain-of-function research has been funded by the NIH. … Dr. Fauci, do you still support funding of the NIH lab in Wuhan?”

FAUCI: “With all due respect, you are entirely and completely incorrect. The NIH has not ever and does not now fund gain-of-function research in the Wuhan Institute of Virology.”

PAUL: “Do you fund Dr. Baric’s gain-of-function research?”

FAUCI: “Dr. Baric is not doing gain-of-function research, and if it is, it is according to the guidelines and is being conducted in North Carolina. … If you look at the grant and if you look at the progress reports, it is not gain-of-function, despite the fact that people tweet that, write about it.”

This is what we call in the world of intelligence a “lie.”

In 2014, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) approved a 5-year grant to EcoHealth Alliance – a British-origin New York-based NGO research group that focuses on emerging diseases for research into “Understanding the Risk of Bat Coronavirus Emergence.” This project was established to help understand how the SARS-like coronaviruses, jump species into humans.” The express purpose of this work was to facilitate “gain of function” research.

EcoHealth Alliance then pursued a worldwide program of field virus sample collection and genetic sequencing to discover hundreds of new viruses with work spread out between the University of North Carolina, the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China, the Bellinzona Institute in Zurich, and Harvard Medical School. The funding of the Wuhan Laboratory was a fee for the field collection, genetic sequencing, and sequence analysis of collected and isolated viral samples.

During 2014 and 2015 a whole series of gain of function research studies were in fact done under the Obama Administration.

In October 2014, the NIH paused the gain of function research on creating viruses with enhanced pathogenicity or transmissibility in mammals via the respiratory route. Yet the NIH panels responsible for guiding such research, apparently nevertheless permitted work to continue in Wuhan using NIH-NIAID funding.

In these expressly “gain of function” experiments, the spike protein from a coronavirus isolated from a cave bat in Yunnan Province, China, was genetically engineered into the genetic material of a mouse-adapted SARS-Virus. The new virus that was created was able to bind and replicate efficiently in cultured human airway cells into amounts that would be considered infectious to humans. The newly engineered virus could also still bind to the lungs of mice causing severe disease.

Scientists had now succeeded in producing a coronavirus that could spread to humans and could cause severe illness. These experiments were allowed by Fauci’s NIAID.

House Republicans Defy the January 6 Narrative

It’s about time.

U.S. Representative Andrew Clyde (R-Ga.) prompted outrage this week following his remarks during a congressional hearing on the events of January 6, 2021.

Clyde, along with several Republican House members, is finally pushing back on the Democrats’ allegedly unassailable narrative about what happened that day. The roughly four-hour disturbance at the Capitol, as I’ve covered for months, is being weaponized not only against Donald Trump but also hundreds of nonviolent Americans who traveled to their nation’s capital to protest the final certification of a fraudulent presidential election.

Big Tech used the so-called “attack” on the Capitol as an excuse to achieve its long-sought-after goal to deplatform the former president; NeverTrumpers such as Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) insist the chaos of the day was fueled by the “Big Lie”—in other words, the belief held by tens of millions of Republicans—and a good share of independents—that Joe Biden didn’t legitimately earn enough votes to win the White House. The Biden regime vows to use the “whole of government” to purge the country of “domestic violent extremists,” which is code for Trump supporters.

And the media continue to blatantly lie about the number of fatalities on January 6, including the myth that Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick died at the hands of Trump “insurrectionists.”

After citing the Russian collusion hoax and Robert Mueller’s special counsel probe as the “only insurrection” he’s ever witnessed, Clyde unloaded on former acting attorney general Jeffrey Rosen and former acting defense secretary Christopher Miller during their testimony before the House Oversight Committee on Wednesday.

“The House floor was never breached and it was not an insurrection,” Clyde said. “This is the truth. There was an undisciplined mob, there were some rioters and some who committed acts of vandalism. But let me be clear. There was no insurrection, and to call it an insurrection, in my opinion, is a bald-faced lie.”

The facts, of course, are of no use or interest to the news media, Democrats, or NeverTrumpers who hope January 6 is the fatal blow to the Trump-supporting Right—a monster, in their view, that will not die no matter how hard they try—which is why, as another Republican congressman noted during the committee hearing, such virulent spin is necessary.

“Outright propaganda and lies are being used to unleash the national security state against law-abiding U.S. citizens, especially Trump voters,” Representative Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) said in his opening remarks. “The FBI is fishing through homes of veterans and citizens with no criminal records and restricting the liberties of individuals who have never been accused of a crime. It was reported early, totally unconfirmed, that an armed insurrection beat a police officer to death with a fire extinguisher.”

Gosar asked Rosen whether the Justice Department confiscated any firearms from people who entered the building on January 6. (Rosen refused to answer but the answer is no.) Gosar also raised the killing of Ashli Babbitt, the veteran shot by an unidentified security guard. She was unarmed, Gosar noted, and “wrapped in an American flag.”

“Who executed Ashli Babbitt?” Gosar asked Rosen. Again, he refused to answer.

The Corrupted 1/6 Commission

Today, House Democrats unveiled their Bill to “establish the National Commission to Investigate the January 6 Attack on the United States Capitol Complex.”

The Bill establishes a Commission of 10 members, five appointed by Democrats and five appointed by Republicans. It will be chaired by a Democrat nominee.

The Commission will have powers to:

“Issue subpoenas requiring the attendance and testimony of witnesses and the production of evidence relating to any matter which the Commission is empowered to investigate.”

The Danger

The dangerous part about all this is that the subpoena power is limited to the imagination of the Democrat appointees. (We assume the likelihood that at least one Republican member of the Committee will go along with anything the Democrats want, thus giving them majority vote for a subpoena.)

We also note that the Commission is given the power to obtain information from “the intelligence community” to further its investigation.

We cannot stress strongly enough the danger of such powers. The House Democrats – those who have leaked false intelligence to the press and lied to the public about the Carter Page FISA applications – will have access, via their appointees, to raw intelligence data. Their history shows they will not use this information responsibly.

Former Professor Sentenced to 37 Months in Prison For Using Federal Grants to Aid China’s Medical Research

A biomedical professor has been sentenced to 37 months in prison for carrying out a scheme to use millions of dollars in federal grant money to advance research in China, according to the Justice Department.

Zheng Songguo, a former professor at Ohio State University (OSU), pleaded guilty in November to lying on his National Institutes of Health (NIH) grant applications, in order to use $4.1 million in research grants to develop the fields of rheumatology and immunology for China, the department said.

He was arrested last May in Anchorage, Alaska, as he was preparing to board a charter flight to China in an attempt to flee the United States. When taken into custody, he was carrying multiple items, including two laptops, three cell phones, several USB drives, several bars of silver, expired Chinese passports for his family, and deeds for property in China.

The case is among a string of federal actions targeting academics who collaborate with Chinese institutions while receiving research funding from U.S. taxpayers. Many of these cases involve researchers who allegedly hid their participation in Chinese state-backed recruitment programs, such as the “Thousand Talents Plan,” which U.S. officials say serve as a vehicle for the transfer of U.S. research and know-how to China.

“American research funding is provided by the American taxpayer for the benefit of American society—not as an illicit gift to the Chinese government,” said Assistant Attorney General John C. Demers for the Justice Department’s National Security Division.
