Runbeck Dr. Junet Eileen Runbeck, June 1, 1914 - September 20, 2005, of Circle Pines, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Preston, WA to Albin and Jennie Runbeck, later moved to Tacoma, WA and then to St. Paul where she headed the Bethel College Dept. of Education from 1961-1980. Junet was preceded in death by brother, Julian and niece, Lynda Harris. She is survived by sister- in-law, Doris Runbeck; nephews, Richard (Linda) of Circle Pines, T. Grant of Vadnais Heights; niece, Janet (Mike) of Tacoma, WA.; and six grand nephews and niece, Tim (Kris) Harris, Jayson Harris, Eric (Janet) Runbeck, Kyle, Neil and Britta Junet Runbeck. She is also survived by 4 great- grand nieces and nephews. Junet earned her AA from Pacific Lutheran College, bachelor's degree from the Univ. of Puget Sound, master's degree from Stanford, and doctorate from the Univ. of Northern Colorado in Educational Psychology. Her many years of service in the field of education were capped by her tenure at Bethel where she achieved national accreditation for the Dept of Education in 1968. She also served as an educator overseas in Ethiopia, Mexico, and the Philippines. Junet continued to serve in the area of adult literacy following her retirement through tutoring, supervising volunteer tutors, and conducting tutor training. She spent many years leading Bible studies throughout the area and teaching adult Sunday School classes. She received the Distinguished Alumnus Award from Pacific Luth Univ in 1996, the National Laubach Literacy Action Award, and was named Outstanding Senior of Anoka County in 1990. She was also honored by the MN Assn of Colleges and Teacher Education in 1990. The family wishes to extend its heartfelt appreciation for the loving medical care provided to our "Auntie" Junet by Drs. Mann, Herman, Swartwood, and Skogerboe at Unity Hospital and the staff at The Pillars Hospice Center in Oakdale. Funeral service at CALVARY BAPTIST CHURCH, 2120 N. Lexington Ave, Roseville, on Saturday, September 24 at 2 PM. Visitation at MUELLER-BIES FUNERAL HOME-ROSE- VILLE, 2130 N. Dale @ Cty Rd B from 5-8 PM Friday and at the church from 1 PM Saturday until time of service. Interment at Woodbine Cemetery in Puyallup, WA. Memorials may be provided to the Dr. Junet E.
