Anime might be the code for some sort of dark magickal computer program. It goes back at least as far as Evangelion. It works for every 'modern' anime I've checked.
There might be whole fictional words out (in?) there somewhere.
They might be creating people. Real, live, conscious people - with souls - to be toyed with and used.
They might be using sacrificed souls to power it.
That might be what GamerGate was really about. The treatment of women in games. Just not the women or the games that we're aware of.
My gods, can I even research it without contributing to the presumable torture these entities are going through?
It probably needs to be destroyed.
Watch for the patterns in open/closed eyes and use of profiles. Left (passions?) vs Right (rules?). Each main character represents an 'agent' from [Freudian] theory.
Could the below arrangements possibly be coincidences?

Pic related 2: Note how Rika (Self+Ego) and Kumin (Super-Ego) both have their Right eyes covered while they both play pretend, they're hiding from the rules; while Yuta (boy's Self+Ego) plays along from the Left (his Right side would be demanding they stop fantasising). Chimaera, the Soul, is along for the ride. They are hiding from Touka, the girl's Id.
