Church of Scotland reviewing a plan to drop the terms "husband and wife" from its marriage ceremonies

The new phrase "…to take each other in marriage" would replace the traditional phrase "…to take each other as husband and wife".

On its website, the church said the provision is intended to "allow ministers of Word and Sacrament and deacons to conduct same sex marriages."
