I realized this a couple years ago. I started saying "I do not consent" every time I get a weather warning/text. Our hood gets skipped over all the time. Like the storm front splits and magically we're in the clear every time.
One night the tornado sirens went off headed straight for us. Whole family took shelter and I was like absolutely not, not happening. We are safe and this is ridiculous.
Neighbors said to me the next day "Normally with conditions like last night, it should have dropped the funnel directly over us. We were lucky."
