Andrew Cuomo's COVID book deal is worth millions, new tax records show

ALBANY – New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo's publisher will pay him $5.1 million for the book he authored last year on his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to newly released tax returns and ethics documents.

The documents released Monday ended a months-long mystery over the size of the Cuomo's book deal with The Crown Publishing Group, which issued Cuomo's best-selling book, American Crisis, in October as the state stared down a second wave of coronavirus infections.

For nine months, Cuomo had repeatedly refused to reveal the details of his book deal, noting it would be revealed on his taxes at a later date. That came Monday, when both his state-mandated disclosure form and his taxes were due and released.

The form showed Cuomo's book deal will will pay him $5.12 million through 2022, with $3.12 million paid in 2020.

Thread by Stephen Miller

Posing as an intellectual is easier than being one: a truly sophomoric take from @iamjohnoliver. The core of his argument is that Israel’s response to terrorist rocket attacks is disproportionate given Israel’s military capabilities. Let’s consider this principle in practice. 1/5

If the response to an attack on your territory must be equal to & no greater than the attack, then every civilized nation is forced to fight a never-ending war of attrition against terrorist armies. By this logic, if Hamas blows up a bus, the Israel must do same in response. 2/5

This is patently absurd. If our country was neighbored by a terrorist army that targeted civilians with rocket bombardments would the correct response be to a.) hit only the same # of targets in the same way or b.) end their ability to launch future strikes (at bare minimum)?3/5

Oliver is, unwittingly, questioning the concept of the nation-state. We have borders, pay taxes, equip militaries, etc. to protect us from threats. If nation-states were forced to downgrade their capabilities to those of any attacker, no nation with enemies could long endure. 4/5

It’s curious how progressives so gleefully defame the tiny Democratic nation of Israel —Jews‘ historical & ancestral home, established as a modern state 3 years after the Holocaust—but had no problem giving cash to the fascist anti-Semitic regime in Tehran.Begs some questions. 5/5
