New York City Mayor, Michael Bloomberg, recently announced that he will personally fund the creation of four charter schools in New York City. The announcement was welcomed by New York financier and education philanthropist, Jeffrey Epstein. Epstein, a long-time supporter of Bloomberg, has financed numerous charter schools across the country including the Maya Angelou schools in Washington DC, the highly acclaimed Bard High School Early College in New York City and the Harlem Link Charter School.

Bloomberg's funding will come through his foundation, the Young Men's Initiative, which is also funded by George Soros' Open Society Foundations. Once approved by the state Board of Regents, the co-ed charter high schools will open in September 2014, alongside four public schools in five high-poverty neighborhoods: in Brooklyn, the South Bronx, Queens and East Harlem. Both the public and charter schools will share a board of trustees, with Melanie Hartzog, a former City Hall official for Health and Human Services, as a proposed member.

In addition to funding charter and Head Start schools, The Jeffrey Epstein VI Foundation continues to be a staunch supporter of cutting edge science and science education. Jeffrey Epstein also founded the Program for Evolutionary Dynamics at Harvard University in 2003 with a $30 million grant. He is a former member of the Trilateral Commission, the Council on Foreign Relations, Rockefeller University, New York Academy of Science and sits on the board of the Mind, Brain and Behavior Committee at Harvard University.

Jeffrey Epstein, Celebrated Philanthropist, Funds Princeton's Institute for Advanced Study

Well-known science philanthropist,

Jeffrey Epstein, founder of the Program for Evolutionary Dynamics at Harvard

University, has provided essential funding to the famed Institute for Advanced

Study at Princeton. The funding comes at a time when four Institute physicists

received the celebrated Fundamental Physics Prize for ground breaking research

in particle physics.

"There's no better time to invest in particle physics," Jeffrey Epstein

asserted. "Much needed unifying theories are finally coming to light."

Indeed, each of the four physicists who received the Fundamental Physics Prize

was cited for their unparalleled contributions to physics. Arkani-Hamed was

cited for his theories on large extra dimensions, the Higgs boson,

supersymmetry, dark matter and gauge theory scattering amplitudes. Maldacena for

showing that "black holes and quantum mechanics are compatible, resolving the

black hole information paradox" and for providing "a useful tool for the study

of strongly coupled quantum systems." Seiberg was named for his unifying quantum

field, string and supersymmetric quantum field theories and Witten for non

perturbative duality symmetries, models of particle physics derived from string

theory, dark matter detection and the twister-string approach to particle

scattering amplitudes.

Their accomplishments are fitting for the Institute that houses them. Founded in

1930 as an independent academic institution in Princeton, New Jersey, it soon

became the academic home of Albert Einstein, along with 33 Nobel Laureates, 38

Fields Medalists and countless winners of the Wolf and MacArthur prizes. Today

the Institute is a leader for theoretical research and intellectual inquiry.

Entirely independent of Princeton University, the Institute is made up of four

schools: Historical Studies, Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Social Science.

Jeffrey Epstein supports cutting edge physics and science research around the

world. In 2003, he founded the Program for Evolutionary Dynamics at Harvard

with a $30 million grant to study evolution with the use of mathematics and

biochemistry. The Program is under the direction of Martin Nowak, Professor of

Mathematics and Biology at Harvard.

Epstein is a former member of the Trilateral Commission, the Council on Foreign

Relations, the New York Academy of Science and a former Board Member of

Rockefeller University. He sits on the Mind, Brain and Behavior Committee at

Harvard.

CTV News reported on Sunday that Fortin is being investigated for having allegedly exposed himself to a woman while he was an officer cadet at the Royal Military College in Saint-Jean, Que., in 1989.
