Gaetz associate pleads guilty to sex trafficking charges

A Florida politician who emerged as a central figure in the Justice Department’s sex trafficking investigation into Rep. Matt Gaetz has pleaded guilty to six federal charges and agreed to cooperate with prosecutors as part of a plea deal

By MICHAEL BALSAMO and MIKE SCHNEIDER Associated Press

ORLANDO, Fla. – A Florida politician who emerged as a central figure in the Justice Department’s sex trafficking investigation into Rep. Matt Gaetz pleaded guilty Monday to six federal charges and agreed to cooperate with prosecutors as part of a plea deal.

Joel Greenberg, a longtime associate of Gaetz's, appeared in federal court in Orlando. He pleaded guilty to six of the nearly three dozen charges he faced, including sex trafficking of a minor, and he admitted that he had paid at least one underage girl to have sex with him and other men.

Gaetz was not mentioned in the plea agreement or during the court hearing. But Greenberg’s cooperation — as a key figure in the investigation and a close ally of Gaetz's — may escalate the potential legal and political liability that the firebrand Republican congressman is facing.

Federal prosecutors are examining whether Gaetz and Greenberg paid underage girls and escorts or offered them gifts in exchange for sex, according to two people familiar with the matter. Investigators have also been looking at whether Gaetz and his associates tried to secure government jobs for some of the women, the people said. They are also scrutinizing Gaetz’s connections to the medical marijuana sector, including whether his associates sought to influence legislation Gaetz sponsored.

The people had knowledge of the investigation but were not allowed to publicly discuss the ongoing investigation and spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity.

Gaetz has denied the allegations and any accusation of wrongdoing and has said repeatedly he will not resign from Congress. A spokesperson for the congressman has said Gaetz “never had sex with a minor and has never paid for sex.”

During the nearly hourlong hearing Monday, Greenberg, 36, acknowledged he understood the charges he was pleading guilty to and the possible punishment he faced and told the judge he was of a sound frame of mind.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Leslie Hoffman told Greenberg that even though prosecutors may request some leniency from his sentencing judge because of his cooperation, there was no guarantee a judge would agree to the prosecutors’ recommendations and Greenberg would be unable to change his plea. No sentencing date was immediately set.

Monday’s court appearance marked the first time Greenberg has been seen in court since the Gaetz investigation blew into the public spotlight in March. Outside the courthouse, a plane flew over during the hearing pulling a banner that read: “TICK TOCK MATT GAETZ.”

After the hearing Greenberg was taken back to jail in handcuffs and shackles, wearing a dark inmate uniform and looking worn down.

“Mr. Greenberg has pleaded guilty subject to a plea agreement that has certain requirements and obligations on him, and he intends to honor them," Fritz Scheller, Greenberg's attorney, said after the hearing. “He definitely feels a sense of remorse."

Asked if Gaetz should be nervous, Scheller said, “I will leave that up to Matt Gaetz's attorneys to answer."

As part of his plea deal, Greenberg, a Republican who served as the tax collector in Seminole County, admitted he recruited women for commercial sex acts and paid them more than $70,000 from 2016 to 2018, sometimes through online payment services like Venmo. They include at least one underage girl he paid to have sex with him and others, the plea agreement says.

Prosecutors wrote in the plea agreement that Greenberg had introduced the girl to others, who also “engaged in commercial sex acts” with her. The agreement does not identify the men.

Greenberg first met the girl online from a website where she was posing as an adult and first paid her $400 after a meeting on a boat, the documents said. He later invited her to hotels in Florida where he and others would have sex with her and supplied her and other people with ecstasy, according to the plea deal.

In total, prosecutors say Greenberg had sex with the girl at least seven times.

Greenberg’s legal scrutiny began when he was arrested last summer on charges of stalking a political opponent, Brian Beute. Prosecutors said he mailed fake letters to the school where his opponent worked, signed by a nonexistent “very concerned student,” who alleged the opponent had engaged in sexual misconduct with another student.

“I wouldn’t want to be him,” Beute, who showed up at the courthouse on Monday, said after the hearing.

Greenberg also is accused of embezzling $400,000 from the Seminole County tax collector’s office, according to the indictment filed against him.

Alabama judge handling domestic cases accused of stalking

State judicial investigators are accusing an Alabama judge of multiple violations of judicial ethics rules

ByThe Associated Press

May 17, 2021, 2:52 PM

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – An Alabama judge who handles domestic relations cases used fake social media accounts to harass people with cases before her, verbally abused office workers and lawyers and showed signs of drug use and mental instability, state judicial investigators alleged.

A complaint against Jefferson County Circuit Judge Nakita Blocton by the Judicial Inquiry Commission, which charged her with violating multiple rules of judicial ethics, also claimed she took an inordinate amount of time to dispose of cases.

Blocton has been temporarily removed from duty and denied allegations that include multiple improper communications through Facebook detailed in the complaint, which was filed Friday, al.com reported.

“If the complaint wasn’t a legal document, it would be a libel lawsuit,” said Emory Anthony, an attorney representing Blocton. “Usually, I wouldn’t make a statement when dealing the Judicial Inquiry Commission, but these allegations are so embarrassing. We hope at the proper time we’ll have the right to defend these allegations and show that they’re not true. This is just out of left field.”

Beginning last August, either Blocton or someone working on her behalf used fake Facebook accounts to harass a litigant who complained about her behavior, according to the charges. One of the messages said: “Because you have prophesied when I did not send you, and because you caused my people to believe in a lie, you and your descendants will be punished,” the complaint said.

Blocton, a judge since 2017, delayed ruling on cases involving “disfavored” lawyers and told staffers to put their cases on “the bottom of the stack.” The complaint alleged Blocton has been under the influence of medication in her chambers that caused erratic behavior and that she made staffers take diet pills to “pep” them up after long nights at work.

Anthony denied that Blocton abused drugs or forced anyone to take medication. She had a delay on her docket because of COVID-19 and is dealing with the deaths of her father and grandfather, her lawyer said.

“We do need to address the issue concerning orders, and we will do that,’′ Anthony said.

Judicial complaints are heard by the Alabama Court of the Judiciary, which has not set a date to consider the case.

Israel unleashes more airstrikes on Gaza Strip, after deadliest single attack so far

Israel has vowed to continue the offensive for "as long as necessary."

By Morgan Winsor May 17, 2021, 5:25 PM

LONDON – Israeli warplanes continued to bombard the neighboring Gaza Strip on Monday, a day after carrying out the deadliest single attack there in the latest outbreak of violence between Israel's military and Hamas, the Palestinian militant group ruling the blockaded territory.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health said at least 42 people in Gaza City were killed by Israeli airstrikes early Sunday. The attack levelled buildings and targeted roads leading to a hospital, preventing ambulances from reaching the wounded. Medical doctors were among the dead, according to the health ministry, which called on the international community to protect the already fragile health system in the Gaza Strip.

In total, 212 people including 61 children and 36 women have died in the Gaza Strip since tensions escalated last week. About 1,305 others have been injured so far, according to the health ministry.

In a televised address on Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to continue the offensive at "full-force" and for "as long as necessary," saying his country "wants to levy a heavy price" on Hamas.

Hamas has also shown no signs of backing down, with its exiled leader, Ismail Haniyeh, telling a pro-Palestine rally in Qatar's capital on Saturday that "the resistance will not give in."

"The enemy is destroying homes and towers and carrying out massacres, thinking they will create deterrence against the resistance and the people of Gaza," Haniyeh said. "But they were wrong."

AZ GOP election official trashes Maricopa County election audit: 'Stop indulging this'

Tue, May 18, 2021, 2:11 AM

On Erin Burnett OutFront Monday, Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer, a Republican, spoke out against the election audit currently happening in Maricopa County, Arizona, despite the fact that two previous bipartisan audits already found no issues.

“They’re only doing two elections on a ballot that had over 60 elections, and how they chose those, I don’t know,” Richer said. “But if they wanted to choose the closest race that was on every single ballot in Maricopa county, they, ironically, should have started with mine, in which a Republican unseated a Democrat incumbent.”

Misinformation surrounding the audit is rampant, due in part to the official twitter account for the audit feeding conspiracies. The account recently posted a tweet claiming the county election database had been deleted, which was later echoed in a statement from former President Dondald Trump. This misinformation contributed to the Republican-led Maricopa County Board of Supervisors denouncing the audit as a grift.

“Just stop indulging this. Stop giving space for lies. We found out about this latest accusation through the Arizona Senate’s audit’s Twitter account, which is anonymously run, just accusing me and my staff of unlawfully deleting evidence. That’s not appropriate,” Richer said, later adding, “That's why we did this. Because it was just exhausting to have to respond to every unfounded allegation and insinuation while we’re supposed to be doing the normal work of the county.”

GOP-Dominated Arizona Board Torches Trump-Backed Audit in Letter: ‘Grifters and Con Artists’

Michael Luciano 6 hrs ago

May 17th, 2021, 10:39 pm

All five members of the Board of Supervisors in Maricopa County, Arizona – four Republicans and one Democrat – have signed a letter denouncing the election audit of the 2020 presidential election currently being conducted in the county. Written to state Senate President Karen Fann, the letter calls on the Republican-controlled senate to end the audit and says it is a “spectacle that is harming all of us.” Moreover, it says, “Our state has become a laughingstock.”

The audit is being conducted by a Florida-based company called Cyber Ninjas, whose CEO has expressed support for conspiracy theories about the 2020 election on social media. Arizona’s Republican-controlled legislature authorized $150,000 for the firm to conduct the audit, during which auditors reportedly looked for evidence of bamboo fibers on ballots because, so goes a conspiracy theory, they were flown in from East Asia.

Maricopa County has already conducted multiple election audits, all of which confirmed Joe Biden won the county.

The letter – signed by Republican supervisors Steve Chucri, Bill Gates (no, not the one you’re thinking of), Clint Hickman, Jack Sellers and Democrat Steve Gallardo, as well as the Republican Recorder of Maricopa County, Stephen Richer and Democratic county sheriff Paul Penzone – blasts the audit and Fann for spreading misinformation.

Windham auditors suspect folds in ballots to blame for burgeoning 2020 election discrepancies

by Daniel Chaitin, Deputy News Editor & Haley Victory Smith, Breaking News Reporter | | May 17, 2021 10:53 PM

Members of an audit team in Windham, New Hampshire, are finding more discrepancies in the 2020 election results in the state and suspect folds in ballots could be to blame.

"Something we strongly suspect at this juncture, based on various evidence, is that in some cases, fold lines are being interpreted by the scanners as valid votes," auditor Mark Lindeman said, according to a report by WMUR9 on Monday, after the first review of four AccuVote machines was completed over the weekend.

Republican Gov. Chris Sununu signed legislation on April 12 ordering an audit of the ballot-counting machines and memory cards used during the 2020 general election in Windham, as well as a hand tabulation of roughly 10,000 ballots for the state House, governor, and U.S. senator races. That was after a November hand recount established discrepancies between vote totals, in particular with four of the candidates in Rockingham District 7 gaining about 300 votes, while the top-finishing Democrat, Kristi St. Laurent, lost 99 votes.

TRUMP-CHAMPIONED WINDHAM 2020 ELECTION AUDIT BEGINS IN NEW HAMPSHIRE

"Because if someone voted for all four Republican candidates and the ballot happened to have its fold line going through St. Laurent's target, then that might be interpreted by the machines as an overvote, which would then subtract votes from each of those four Republican candidates," said Philip Stark, another member of the three-person audit team. "Conversely, if there were not four votes already in that contest by the voter, a fold line through that target could have caused the machine to interpret it as a vote for St. Laurent."

According to the New Hampshire Union Leader, the totals produced so far in the audit differ from those seen on election night returns and in the recount, more so in the state Legislature contest than in the races for governor and U.S. senator.

One particular case mentioned in the report was that of Republican Julius Soti, who was the fourth of four GOP winners for state representative seats. Election night returns showed Soti prevail over fifth-place St. Laurent by 24 votes. The hand recount in November, which was requested by St. Laurent, showed Soti's margin of victory rise to 420, but the vote tabulator review completed over the weekend shrunk the margin to 377, or 4,706 votes to 4,329.

The audit will not change the results of the Rockingham District 7 contest, which, according to the legislation signed by Sununu, is because of the ruling of the ballot law commission on Nov. 25 upholding the recount of that race. And although the audit will not analyze votes from the presidential election, it has caught the attention of former President Donald Trump, along with the election audit in Maricopa County, Arizona, and a lawsuit in Antrim County, Michigan.

"Congratulations to the great Patriots of Windham, New Hampshire for their incredible fight to seek out the truth on the massive Election Fraud which took place in New Hampshire and the 2020 Presidential Election," Trump said in a statement on May 6.

Sununu disputed the assertion that there was widespread fraud in his state. “A discrepancy of 300 votes out of over 800,000 cast does not constitute ‘massive election fraud,'" the governor said.

THE PROTOCOLS OF THE LEARNED ELDERS OF ZION!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Protocols_of_the_Elders_of_Zion

“Henry Ford funded printing of 500,000 copies that were distributed throughout the United States in the 1920s. Distillations of it were assigned by some German teachers, as if factual, to be read by German schoo lchildren after the Nazis came to power in 1933,

[3] despite having been exposed as fraudulent by the British newspaper The Times in 1921 and the German Frankfurter Zeitung in 1924.

It remains widely available in numerous languages, in print and on the Internet, and continues to be presented by neofascist, fundamentalist and antisemitic groups as a genuine document.

The political scientist Stephen Bronner described it as "probably the most influential work of antisemitism ever written… what the Communist Manifesto is for Marxism, the fictitious Protocols is for antisemitism".[2]”

Who is Maurice Joly and what is he Famous for?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maurice_Joly

'"Posthumous fame'''

The "Dialogue" and its author became famous later, inadvertently and for an enigmatic reason. In the beginning of 20th century Joly's book was used as a basis for The Protocols of the Elders of Zion,[18]

an infamous Russian-made antisemitic literary forgery. There is an abundance of evidence that The Protocols were lavishly plagiarized from Joly's book.[19][20][21][22]"

The Protocols is widely considered influential in the development of other conspiracy theories,[citation needed] and reappears repeatedly in contemporary conspiracy literature. Notions derived from the Protocols include claims that the "Jews" depicted in the Protocols are a cover for the Illuminati,[37] Freemasons, the Priory of Sion or, in the opinion of David Icke, "extra-dimensional entities".[101] In his book And the truth shall set you free (1995),Ickeasserted that the Protocols are genuine and accurate.[102]

And wasn't it William Cooper who included a copy of the Protocols in his book "Behold a Pale Horse"?

And with a very weak if not very misleading Disclaimer, Anon might add

Author's Note: This is an exact reprint of the original text. This has been written intentionally to deceive people.

For clear understanding, the word "Zion" should be "Sion"; any reference to "Jews" should be replaced with the word "Illuminati"; and the word "goyim" should be replaced with the word "cattle."

Yes, very weak and/or also meant to mislead because "THE ILLUMINATI" bogey man is just as false as the Protocols and the reason why is because Weishaupt was a Jesuit and his little Illuminati experiment was a honey pot for intellectuals and an attempt to infiltrate the masonic orders which failed miserably.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Illuminati

Try to read between the lines "He was the only non-clerical professor at an institution run by Jesuits".

And wasn't it the FBI who recently dropped a copy of the Protocols with no Disclaimer?

https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2020/08/20/fbi-apology-twitter-anti-semitism/

Dozens perhaps hundreds of times by now, Shilly Fakers put the Protocols in notes with Zero explanation or Disclaimer, just like the Alphabet's and other Agents do, because they want people to believe it is true without question/debate.

and last but not least, we have:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dialogue_in_Hell_Between_Machiavelli_and_Montesquieu

The Dialogue in Hell Between Machiavelli and Montesquieu [1] (in the original French Dialogue aux enfers entre Machiavel et Montesquieu ou la politique de Machiavel au XIXe siècle) is a political satire written by French attorney Maurice Joly in protest against the regime of Napoleon III, a.k.a. Louis-Napoléon Bonaparte who ruled France from 1848-1870. It was translated into English in 2002. Small portions were translated in 1967 as an appendix to Norman Cohn's Warrant for Genocide, which identifies it as the main source of the later Protocols of the Elders of Zion.

The piece uses the literary device of a dialogue of the dead, invented by ancient Roman writer Lucian and introduced into the French belles-lettres by Bernard de Fontenelle in the 18th century. Shadows of the historical characters of Niccolò Machiavelli and Charles Montesquieu meet in Hell in the year 1864 and dispute on politics. In this way Joly tried to cover up a direct, and then illegal, criticism of Louis-Napoleon's rule.
