Top EU Negotiator "Quite Sure" Iran Nuclear Deal Will Be Reached Next Week
At the end of the latest round of talks (the fourth) in Vienna on Wednesday a top European Union envoy has said that the reviving of the Iran nuclear deal is now "shaping up". Enrique Mora, the EU's top negotiator for the Vienna nuclear talks, says he's "quite sure" a deal will be reached at a moment the text is being drafted, and as talks adjourn for a week.
Documents outlining both Iran's compliance and the United States' return to the JCPOA nuclear deal are now said to be "mostly drafted" - according to Iranian statements, with the exception of "complicated differences". A "final round" of talks are now set for next week, with the Iranian side hoping for a deal to be reached prior to the Iranian presidential election in June, after which Hassan Rouhani will step down due to term limits.
The Islamic Republic's chief negotiator, Abbas Araghchi, assessed on Wednesday that "I think good headway has been made with the talks over the past two weeks. A few key issues have remained, and they need further consideration, and decisions should be made about those issues in the capitals."
This next week is being described essentially as a period where negotiators will go back to their respective capitals to prep for the final definitive meetings. Remaining "red lines" are expected to be decided on.
The Guardian summarizes the three main remaining issues expected to be resolved by any agreement reached as follows:

However, despite a flurry of positive statements out of Vienna on Wednesday it remains that other Western diplomats are more circumspect, with a Wall Street Journal correspondent citing one official who emphasized that "success is not guaranteed" given "there are still some very difficult issues ahead. A professor with close ties to the Communist Chinese Government has declared that his country âdefeatedâ the U.S. in 2020, winning a biological war, and putting America âback in itâs placeâ.
The comments were made by Chen Ping, a Senior Researcher at The China Institute of Fudan University, a CCP affiliated think tank, and a professor at Peking University.
The video, which appeared online recently, was translated by New York-based Chinese blogger Jennifer Zeng:
Zeng writes that the researcher claims âthe Western model has failed, the 500-year maritime civilization is doomed, the CCP has won and âwill lead the way of the modernization in the new era after the biology revolutionâ after the 2020 CCPVirus (COVID19) pandemic.â
Ping states in the video that âIn 2020, China won the trade war, science and technology war, and especially the biological war.â
âThe achievement is unprecedented. This is an epoch-making historical record,â he continues, adding âSo for the liberal, America-worshiping cult within China, their worship of the U.S. is actually unfounded.â
âAfter this trade war and biological warfare, the U.S. was beaten back to its original shape,â Ping emphasised.
Ping also commented on the 2020 U.S. election, noting âI think Trumpâs attempt to restore the declining international status of the U.S. during his 4 years has failed. This failure is not only the failure of Trumpâs personal campaign for re-election as president, but also the failure of the neo-liberalism-led globalization of the past four decades led by the U.S. and the UK.â
âTherefore, the development and modernization model of the U.S. and Europe is not worthy of Chinaâs imitation and repetition,â Ping added.
Chinaâs economy has expanded by 18.3% in the first quarter of 2021 compared to the same period last year, marking the biggest increase since China started keeping quarterly records in 1992.
The country has undoubtedly been able to rebound quickly by getting ahead of the pandemic in late 2019, stalling and obscuring the facts of what was unfolding while a criminally compliant World Health Organisation parroted CCP talking points to the rest of the world.

Ah, yes, another important "woke" step toward wiping out racism in the country: judging people by the color of their skin.
In which the Mayor of Chicago, Lori Lightfoot, most recently known for watching droves of her citizens flee the city during the chaos that broke out (and was emboldened by her office) in 2020, now is being accused of only granting interviews to people of color, according to Fox.
That's the allegation that reporters in Chicago are making, with NBC 5 Chicago political reporter Mary Ann Ahern expressing discontent on Twitter about her inability to get an interview with the mayor. She wrote: "As âŚ@chicagosmayor reaches her two year midway point as mayor, her spokeswoman says Lightfoot is granting 1 on 1 interviews - only to Black or Brown journalists."

Ahern's allegations were supported by another reporter, TTW Chicago Tonight anchor and correspondent Paris Schutz, who said; "I was told the same thing."
A third reporter echoed the allegations, when Chicago politics reporter Heather Cherone tweeted: "I can confirm".
Despite this, Lightfoot still made an appearance on MSNBC with Stephanie Ruhle on Monday. Perhaps her closely held beliefs only apply to when she's not offered a chance to go on national television.
Lightfoot faced a backlash on social media, facing obvious allegations of racism for - well, being racist - and allegedly picking people to work with based on the color of their skin.
During her Mensa-session with Ruhle on MSNBC, Lightfoot took the time to encourage her citizens to continue wearing masks despite new CDC guidance that says they're not mandatory for people who are vaccinated: "I know for me personally, Iâm going to continue to wear a mask in public and Iâm going to encourage others to do so. Weâve got to make sure that people are continuing to follow the public health guidance that has gotten us this far, and masks, I think, are a big and important part of that."

The British authorities wonât allow anti-Semitism to âgrow and festerâ in the country, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson vowed, amid a spike in attacks on Jews, following the outbreak of hostilities in Gaza.
More than 100 anti-Semitic incidents have been recorded in Britain since May 8, when protests took place in Jerusalem in response to the proposed evictions of Palestinians in East Jerusalem and the incursion of the Israeli security forces into the compound of the Al-Aqsa mosque, the third-most important religious site in Islam. These incidents brought to a head the tensions between Israel and the militant group Hamas, which controls Gaza, and provoked the ongoing deadly cross-border exchange.
The data coming from the Community Security Trust (CST), which consults with the UKâs estimated 280,000 Jews on security issues, reveals a fivefold increase in such incidents since the current Israeli-Palestinian flare-up.
On Sunday, a rabbi in Chigwell, Essex, was hospitalised with concussion after being attacked in the street. The police arrested two men on suspicion of religiously aggravated assault.
The same day, a convoy of cars draped in Palestinian flags was filmed driving around the predominantly Jewish neighbourhood of Finchley broadcasting anti-Semitic slogans.
In addition, Jewish leaders have been receiving messages with threats, and anti-Semitic graffiti has been daubed on synagogues, CST said.
As Johnson appeared before Parliament on Wednesday, the leader of the opposition Labour Party, Keir Starmer, questioned him on the governmentâs response to the âappalling rise in anti-Semitic attacksâ in Britain.
âI share his horror at the outbreak of anti-Semitic incidents,â the prime minister responded, assuring that his government had âconveyed that message loud and clear to those who are responsible for enforcing the law against hate crime.â
âAs a country and as a society ⌠we call this out at every stage. We will not let it take root, we will not allow it to grow and fester,â Johnson insisted.
During more than a week of violence, Hamas has fired over 3,000 rockets towards Israeli territory, the Israel Defense Forces said. Those attacks have killed at least 12 people in Israel and left more than 50 injured, according to media reports, citing police and health officials.
The death toll as the result of Israelâs retaliatory strikes on densely populated Gaza is thus far 219, including more than 60 children, the territoryâs Health Ministry said. Studies find California child hospitalizations from COVID-19 were 'grossly inflated' by at least 40% â findings 'likely' to be the same across US
The reported number of children hospitalized with COVID-19 in California was "grossly inflated," potentially leading policymakers and parents to believe kids were at higher risk from the virus than they actually are, according to two new studies.
"Hospital Pediatrics," a journal of medicine for pediatric care, published two research papers Wednesday that found child hospitalizations for COVID-19 were over-counted by at least 40% in the state, and researchers believe it's likely national numbers were similarly inflated. New York magazine reported commentary from Dr. Monica Gandhi, an infectious disease specialist at the University of California, San Francisco, and her colleague Amy Beck, an associate professor of pediatrics, that explained the studies' findings.
"Taken together, these studies underscore the importance of clearly distinguishing between children hospitalized with SARS-CoV-2 found on universal testing versus those hospitalized for COVID-19 disease," they wrote. The reported hospitalization rates "greatly overestimate the true burden of COVID-19 disease in children." In an interview, Gandhi told New York magazine "there is no reason to think these findings would be exclusive to California. This sort of retrospective chart review will likely reveal the same findings across the country."
New York magazine summarized the key findings from the two studies:
In one study, conducted at a children's hospital in Northern California, among the 117 pediatric SARS-CoV2-positive patients hospitalized between May 10, 2020, and February 10, 2021, the authors concluded that 53 of them (or 45 percent) "were unlikely to be caused by SARS-CoV-2." The reasons for hospital admission for these "unlikely" patients included surgeries, cancer treatment, a psychiatric episode, urologic issues, and various infections such as cellulitis, among other diagnoses. The study also found that 46 (or 39.3 percent) of patients coded as SARS-CoV2 positive were asymptomatic. In other words, despite patients' testing positive for the virus as part of the hospital's universal screening, COVID-19 symptoms were absent, therefore it was not the reason for the hospitalization. Any instance where the link between a positive SARS-CoV2 test and cause of admission was uncertain the authors erred toward giving a "likely" categorization.
In the second study, at the fifth-largest children's hospital in the country, out of 146 records listing patients as positive for SARS-CoV-2 from May 1, 2020, to September 30, 2020, the authors classified 58 (40 percent) as having "incidental" diagnosis, meaning there was no documentation of COVID-19 symptoms prior to hospitalization. Like the first study, and as has been typical around the nation, this hospital implemented universal testing of inpatients for SARS-CoV-2. An example of incidentally SARS-CoV-2-positive patients are those who came to the hospital because of fractures. Patients who may have had COVID-19 symptoms but who had a clearly documented alternative reason for them, such as a child with abdominal pain and fever found to be related to an abdominal abscess, were also deemed to have incidental diagnosis. The study categorized 68 patients, or 47 percent, as "potentially symptomatic," which was defined as when "COVID-19 was not the primary reason for admission for these patients, and COVID-19 alone did not directly require hospitalization without the concomitant condition." Examples of these patients were those with acute appendicitis, since that condition includes gastrointestinal symptoms that may also present in COVID-19.
There are two important implications of these findings. The first is that policies that disproportionally affect children, like school closures or the cancellation of youth sports or summer camps, were implemented after reports greatly overstated the risk of children being hospitalized from COVID-19.

The image showed the 45-year-old and his actress wife, Bijou Phillips, in an inexplicably cheery mood as they sat in the front of a car outside the government building.
Masterson, who is accused of raping three women, even cracked a joke in the text next to the image.
âHad the most beautiful Uber driver drop me off at school today. #uberwife#bijouphillips,â he captioned the selfie. He also geotagged âCourt House.â
The preliminary hearing in Los Angeles Superior Court was scheduled to determine if there was enough probable cause to order a trial against the actor.
Despite Mastersonâs jokey mood outside the courtroom, things got serious once the proceedings began.
One of his accusers took the stand and tearfully claimed that one night, 18 years ago, she woke up to find Masterson raping her.
âWhen I came to, he was on top of me,â said the woman, who was only identified as Jen B. âThe first thing I recall is grabbing his hair to pull him off.â
A self-described second-generation Scientologist, the woman testified that she and Masterson, 45, were part of the same social circle who were linked to the Church of Scientology in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
She claimed he gave her a vodka cocktail at her request, and she found herself âblurry,â weak and queasy 20 minutes later.
She also said she recalled that she tried to get Masterson off her by pulling his hair, then put a pillow in his face, but he pushed it back on her. She also said he grabbed a gun from his nightstand drawer to threaten her.
During cross-examination, Mastersonâs attorney, Thomas Mesereau, challenged her on inconsistencies between her 2004 police report and one that she filled out for the Church of Scientology the year prior as they tried to mediate the situation.
She acknowledged that there were differences in her accounts but insisted they were truthful in each report.
Masterson, who had pleaded not guilty, has denied the charges, and his attorney said at a previous hearing that he âis absolutely not guilty and weâre going to prove it.â
The hearing is expected to continue Wednesday.

600,000 Children From 12 to 15 Have Been Vaccinated Against COVID-19: CDC
In the United States, around 600,000 children aged 12 to 15 have been vaccinated against COVID-19 as of Tuesday, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
CDC Director Rochelle Walensky said in a media call that the figures come after the COVID-19 vaccines from Pfizer-BioNtech became the first to be cleared for that age group in the United States earlier this month.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) had declared on May 10 that the Pfizer vaccine is safe and offers strong protection for younger teens, based on testing of more than 2,000 U.S. volunteers aged 12 to 15. Two days later, the CDC officially recommended the shot for the age group.
President Joe Biden has asked states to make the vaccine available to younger adolescents immediately. Most states began issuing shots to children last Thursday but some, including Georgia, started sooner.
âNow itâs time to get your shot. We have the vaccine. Weâve secured enough supply to vaccinate all adults and children above the age of 12. I repeat: Now is the time to get your vaccine shot,â the president said on May 17 in an update on the federal vaccination program.
The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine has been available under an emergency use authorization to people as young as 16 in the United States since December.
The CDC acknowledges that fewer children have been infected with the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus compared to adults. The agency notes, however, that children can still be infected and get stick from the CCP virus, as well as spread it to others.
As of May 15, its website issued a message recommending âeveryone 12 years and olderâ to be vaccinated âto help protect against COVID-19,â characterizing widespread vaccination as a âcritical tool to help stop the pandemic.â
âGetting your child or teen vaccinated can bring you one step closer to enjoying the activities you miss. Children 12 years and older are able to get the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine,â the CDC message reads.
Vaccine manufacturers are immune from liability for any adverse reactions unless there is âwillful misconductâ involved. Vaccine providers are required to report any serious adverse effects or vaccination administration errors to VAERS, hosted by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
The federal government has a Countermeasures Injury Compensation Program that can pay compensation to eligible persons who suffer serious injury from approved vaccines. But the burden of proof has proven a challenging process.

UK Begins Ripping Out Chinese Communist Party-Linked Huawei From 5G Network.
The United Kingdom has started ripping out technology from Huawei â a Chinese Communist Party-linked telecommunications firm â from its 5G networks.
The government is launching a seven-year and $700 million task of removing the companyâs products, starting in the city of Hull. The countryâs biggest network, BT Group Plc, will replace the technology with components from Nokia Oyj.
âWe were quite keen to pick one city area and do the whole of that, and make sure that we can really check that weâre not having an adverse impact on customer service,â BT Chief Technology Officer Howard Watson noted. âThe signs are really good for that so far.â The process will have to be repeated on 12,000 of BTâs 18,000 mobile masts, rooftops, and other sites.
Bloomberg attributes the move to a âU.S.-led campaign against the Chinese company,â executed forcefully by the Trump administration.

Anthony Fauci: Americans âMisinterpretingâ CDC Guidance on Masks: Itâs âNotâ Removal of a Mask Mandate
Dr. Anthony Fauci this week said Americans are âmisinterpretingâ the Centers for Disease Control and Preventionâs (CDC) guidance on masks, stating it is ânotâ equivalent to the removal of mask mandates.
âI think people are misinterpreting, thinking that this is a removal of a mask mandate for everyone. Itâs not,â Fauci said during an Axios virtual event.
Rather, Fauci described the CDC guidance as âan assurance to those who are vaccinated that they can feel safe, be they outdoors or indoors.â
âItâs not their fault,â Fauci continued. âPeople either read them quickly, or listen and hear half of it. They are feeling that weâre saying: âYou donât need the mask anymore.â Thatâs not what the CDC said.â
âThey said: If you are vaccinated, you can feel safe â that you will not get infected either outdoors or indoors,â he continued. âIt did not explicitly say that unvaccinated people should abandon their masks.â
Fauciâs remarks follow his defense of businesses opting to keep sweeping mask mandates in place, because, according to the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director, such entities are unable to confirm who is vaccinated and who is not, presenting a âproblem.â
âThe problem and the issue is that we donât have any way of knowing who is vaccinated and whoâs not vaccinated,â Fauci said during an appearance on Good Morning America.

Last weekâs CDC guidance states that fully vaccinated people can âresume activities without wearing a mask or physically distancing, except where required by federal, state, local, tribal, or territorial laws, rules, and regulations, including local business and workplace guidance.â
Major retailers â including Target, Starbucks, and Walmart â have since lifted their hardline mask mandates, allowing vaccinated customers to forgo wearing a face covering. However, the companies are not asking for proof of vaccination, leading to Fauciâs apparent concerns.
Meanwhile, some state leaders have continued taking action to roll back coronavirus-related restrictions. On Tuesday, for example, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) signed an executive order barring localities from enforcing mask mandates.
âTexans, not government, should decide their best health practices, which is why masks will not be mandated by public school districts or government entities,â Abbott said in a statement.
âWe can continue to mitigate COVID-19 while defending Texansâ liberty to choose whether or not they mask up,â he added.

A recent poll indicated she may encounter challenges as her attempts to explain away a secret trip aboard a private jet to visit her father in Florida have dragged on for over a month.
Progress Michigan, a far-left advocacy group, asked 820 Michigan voters May 5-6, 2020 about Whitmerâs job performance and 49 percent said they approved, six percent said they âsomewhatâ disapproved, and 43 percent âstronglyâ disapproved.
Another survey found 46 percent of respondents said Whitmer deserved to be re-elected, while 41 percent said she did not.
In a hypothetical matchup with Detroit Police Chief James Craig, 48 percent of respondents said they would vote for Whitmer, while 42 percent indicated they would back the challenger. Craig is retiring June 1 and there is speculation he will mount a campaign as a Republican against the incumbent.
Whitmer has been fumbling questions for weeks about the details of her secret trip to Florida.
Whitmerâs original story was that her trip was strictly âpersonalâ to visit her ailing father, who owns a property in West Palm Beach.
âIâve said everything I am going to say about my trip to go check on my father,â Whitmer told a 9&10 News journalist when questions persisted. âIt was a quick trip. It was an important family reason for doing it. And I have nothing to add.â
âI showed up when I was needed. I did a lot of cooking, a lot of cleaning,â Whitmer said last week.
âWhen youâre the governor of Michigan, youâre always on the clock, but it does not mean that youâre not also a daughter who shows up when a family member needs her,â she said.
But late Friday, Whitmerâs office claimed her 501(c)(4) organization paid for the flight, which would require an organization-related activity to do so.
Whitmer repeatedly claimed the trip was strictly personal business, which would not allow her to use nonprofit funds for that activity, Michigan Rising Action said after the news broke.
â501(c)(4) groups are social welfare organizations and are not allowed to pay for personal expenses for officials,â the group â itself a 501(c)(4) group â said in a news release.
If Whitmer had a legal justification for using the nonprofit funds for the trip, it would indicate she did other things in Florida besides tend to her fatherâs alleged needs. The trip occurred in March, the original story broke in April, and the 501(c)(4) acknowledged it as an expense in May.
âTodayâs revelations that Whitmerâs non-profit paid for her personal trip to Florida is shady and makes it clear why she tried to hide the trip and cover up who paid,â Tori Sachs, Michigan Rising Actionâs former executive director, said Friday.
âEither Whitmerâs Florida trip was for a legitimate 501(c)(4) purpose, in which case the c4 could pay for it, or it was personal, in which case a c4 canât pay for it. Whitmerâs personal use of her 501(c)(4) account funds must be investigated.ââ

Turkish Hackers Accused of Cyber Attack on Cyprus Parliament
Cyprus has said that Turkish hackers attacked its parliamentâs website last month.
The Cypriot Digital Security Authority investigated the cyber attack, which took place on April 5th, and found that the source came from internet protocol (IP) addresses linked to a Turkish hacker group.
A government statement went on to add that âthanks to the timely response to the incident there has been no negative result, and that additional security measures have subsequently been taken as a precautionâ, Greek newspaper Proto Thema reports.
The cyberattack comes as attempts by the Turkish government, led by Islamist president Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has largely failed in pushing for a two-state solution to the separation of Turkish-occupied northern Cyprus and the Greek-speaking Republic of Cyprus, which holds sway in the islandâs south.
While the Greek-speaking south has rejected the idea of a two-state solution, Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar has continued to back the proposal. Currently, only the Turkish government recognises Northern Cyprus, which was established after a Turkish invasion in 1974.
Last week, during informal United Nations talks on the Cyprus issue attended by the leaders of both halves of Cyprus, Northern Cyprus foreign minister Tahsin Ertugruloglu labelled the talks a breakthrough for Turkish Cypriots.
âIt is our sovereignty that we defend, it is the equal status of our state. âThe Cyprus issue is a status issue,â we have repeatedly stressed,â he said.
Issues in Cyprus come as tensions between Greece and Turkey, whose foreign ministers also attended the Geneva talks, remain high after months of agitation on issues such as maritime sovereignty and mass migration.
Greek Cyprus has also been affected by mass migration in recent months, with the government reaching out to the European Union to help deal with an influx of migrants.
Some estimate that the number of asylum seekers in the country is equal to four per cent of its overall population.

Former Acting Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Mark Morgan and two former top DHS officials are calling for Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkasâ job. The joint statement was issued by Morgan, former Acting ICE Director Tom Homan, and Ken Cuccinelli, former Acting Deputy Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security.
Morgan further told Breitbart Texas, âThe final straw for me was the Secretaryâs testimony in front of Congress last week ⌠Rather than be honest with the American people and take ownership of the crisis they created at our southern border, he continued the spin, misdirection, and blatant lies being pushed by the Biden Administration.â
The statement and request for Mayorkas to be dismissed comes as DHS struggles to deal with the highest influx of migrants in more than 20 years. According to Customs and Border Protection, more than 178,000 apprehensions occurred in April alone. There are more than 20,000 unaccompanied migrant children in custody of the federal government according to the Department of Health and Human Services.
Morgan told Breitbart Texas, âHe sounded more like a politician than the Secretary responsible for protecting our homeland security.â

MEDICAL ETHICS FAIL: Covid vaccines worsen disease upon exposure, and trial participants are not being warned by doctors or researchers
Patients who participated in Wuhan coronavirus (Covid-19) âvaccineâ clinical trials were not told that the injections could worsen disease upon exposure to challenge or circulating viruses, a new study has found.
Researchers from New York University (NYU) and Tulane University looked at available published literature to see whether or not the risks associated with Chinese Virus injection were properly disclosed to patients. They were not, it turns out, and many patients ended up learning the hard way through serious illness or death.
Both preclinical and clinical evidence exists to suggest that Wuhan Flu shots can, in fact, worsen disease upon exposure to the virus and to other viruses within the coronavirus family. These include the common cold, which many are unaware is a type of coronavirus.
Just like how flu shots have been shown to increase coronavirus infection risk, Chinese Virus vaccines damage the immune system, causing it to overreact to viral exposure and potentially induce a deadly cytokine storm.
This is a serious risk, and one that both clinical trial participants and everyday people who are lining up to get injected at the local pharmacy are simply not being told about, the new study suggests.
Wuhan Flu shots, we now know, were designed in such a way as to elicit neutralizing antibodies that end up sensitizing vaccine recipients to more severe disease. In other words, getting injected actually worsens oneâs risk of developing a serious infection later on down the road.
Worse yet, none of the Wuhan coronavirus (Covid-19) jabs currently on the market have ever been formally approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for safety or efficacy. Neither have any of the experimental injections for MERS, SARS, or RSV â three other types of coronaviruses â it is important to note.
One of the major reasons for this is that viral-based vaccines simply do not work. These in particular contain fundamental flaws in their mechanistic design that, as previously mentioned, cause the human body to become more prone to illness. This is why we keep saying that this whole thing is one big experiment on human health, the long-term implications of which are yet to unfold.
Chinese Virus injections, the study further explains, may worsen disease risk through what is known as antibody-dependent enhancement, or ADE. This risk, however, is âsufficiently obscured in clinical trial protocolsâ â meaning participants are being left in the dark about what could happen to them health-wise.
The consent forms for ongoing Wuhan coronavirus (Covid-19) vaccine trials likewise do not contain any of the appropriate information warning participants that they could become more ill with the Chinese Virus than if they had simply not taken the injection in the first place.
What this all means, of course, is that Chinese Virus injection recipients are nothing more than human guinea pigs being experimented on, at the pleasure of Big Pharma and the medical-industrial complex.
âThe specific and significant COVID-19 risk of ADE should have been and should be prominently and independently disclosed to research subjects currently in vaccine trials, as well as those being recruited for the trials and future patients after vaccine approval, in order to meet the medical ethics standard of patient comprehension for informed consent,â the study concluded.

Chemical Giants Misled FDA, Consumers on Health Impact of âForever Chemicalsâ in Food Packaging (A new report reveals chemical giants DuPont and Daikin withheld studies from the public and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration about the health effects of a âshort-chainâ PFAS chemical widely used in food packaging.)
A new report by The Guardian reveals chemical giants DuPont and Daikin lied to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) when they told agency officials certain types of âforever chemicalsâ used in food packaging were safer and less likely to accumulate in humans than older versions of the chemicals.
According to The Guardian, the companies deliberately concealed the negative health effects of fluorotelomer alcohol, or 6:2 FTOH, a type of âshort-chainâ per- and polyfluoroalkyl (PFAS) chemicals used in pizza boxes, to-go containers and fast-food wrappers.
The chemicals have been linked to numerous health issues including kidney disease, liver damage, cancer, neurological damage, developmental problems and autoimmune disorders.
According to The Guardian:
âThe companies initially told the FDA that the compounds were safer and less likely to accumulate in humans than older types of PFAS, also known as âforever chemicalsâ and submitted internal studies to support that claim.â
What Daikin didnât tell the FDA â or the public â is that a 2009 internal company study showed low-level exposure to the chemicals damaged the livers and kidneys of lab rats.
In 2012, DuPont learned the chemicals stayed in the bodies of animals for longer than previously believed. Yet, DuPont took no action to alert the FDA or to make the information available to the public â until three years later when the company summarized its findings in a study that independent researcher Maricel Maffini, who studies PFAS in food packaging, said used âcherry-pickedâ data to support its claim that the 6:2 FTOH chemicals were safe.

While DuPontâs 2012 study summary wasnât exactly truthful, it still caught the FDAâs attention, triggering a safety review that resulted in a voluntary phase-out of 6:2 FTOH compounds in food packaging.

Israeli bombs continue to pound Gaza as the US stands firmly behind its ally and refuses to join international calls for a ceasefire. According to the Palestinian news agency Wafa, at least three Palestinians have been killed in airstrikes late Tuesday and early Wednesday morning in Gaza.
Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin spoke with his Israeli counterpart on Tuesday and affirmed the US militaryâs âunwaveringâ commitment to Israel. In a readout of the call, the Pentagon said that Austin âexpressed his support for de-escalation of the conflict,â but the US is actively working against international ceasefire efforts and has blocked three UN Security Council statements calling for a de-escalation.
President Biden spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday and also expressed âsupportâ for a ceasefire. But again, it appears the US is putting no real pressure on the Israelis to stop the bombing and is instead giving them the diplomatic cover to continue.
Israelâs Channel 12 reported on Tuesday that Israel and Hamas were close to agreeing to an Egyptian-brokered ceasefire that would take effect at 6 am on Thursday morning. But the report was denied by Israeli and Hamas officials. Last week, Israel rejected a truce offer from Hamas that was made through the Russian foreign ministry.
Early on Tuesday, there was a six-hour pause in rocket fire from Gaza, which could have been an opportunity for peace. But instead, the Israelis continued to launch airstrikes on the besieged enclave during the lull.
Comments from Israeli officials suggest the bombing campaign will go on. Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz said the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have no shortage of targets to bomb in Gaza. âNo person, area or neighborhood in Gaza is immune. We have thousands more attack targets that are only further accumulating,â he said. âThe IDF has many plans to continue striking Hamas and the fighting wonât stop until we bring about complete and long-term calm.â
As of early Wednesday in Gaza, Israeli airstrikes have killed 220 Palestinians, including 63 children. In Israel, 12 have been killed by rocket fire from Gaza, including two children.
Demonstrating the brutality of Israelâs air raids, the Norwegian Refugee Council said that 11 Palestinian children receiving trauma counseling from the charity were killed by Israeli airstrikes while sheltering in their homes. Besides refusing to pressure Israel to seek a ceasefire, the US has also failed to condemn or even mention the Israeli killing of children.

In a Senate hearing last month, Ossoff quizzed Kyle Andeer, Apple's chief compliance officer, on reports that the company had failed to regulate fraudulent iPhone applications available in its app store. Fake app developers have bilked customers out of millions of dollars in subscription fees, according to consumer watchdogs. Ossoff, however, has a stake in Apple that last year was worth between $1 million and $5 million, according to a financial disclosure he filed this week. The investment is Ossoff's largest in a publicly traded company.
"Apple is making a cut on those abusive billing practices, are you not?" Ossoff asked Andeer during the hearing.
Republicans have criticized Ossoff as a "trust fund socialist" who owes his business accomplishments to a massive inheritance from his wealthy grandfather. Ossoff reportedly invested $250,000 of that windfall in Insight TWI, a company that produces investigative documentaries. The investment is now worth between $1 million and $5 million, according to Senate disclosures.
Ossoff did not mention his Apple investments during the antitrust hearing and has not introduced legislation to force tech companies to address fraudulent apps. He has also not divested his Apple shares, which have skyrocketed in recent years.
His shares were worth between $500,000 and $1 million in 2019, according to a filing he submitted that year. Ossoff has not filed any reports disclosing any stock transactions while in office. Senators are required to report any stock transactions within 30 days. It is unclear when Ossoff purchased Apple shares. The company's stock price has soared in recent years, from $37 per share at the beginning of 2019 to $124 on Wednesday.
Andeer pushed back on Ossoff's question during the hearing, saying that the company had invested tens of millions of dollars in rooting out fraudulent apps. He also said Apple refunds customers who submit complaints about fraudulent app activity.
But one developer who has uncovered hundreds of fraudulent apps sold by Apple said Andeer gave incomplete answers to Ossoff's questions.
"They did not offer any explanation for why it's so easy for people like me to keep finding multimillion-dollar scams that have been going on unchecked on the App Store for years. They also gave no clear answer to whether theyâre responsible for fraudulent activity in their store," Kosta Eleftheriou told TechCrunch.
"Apple appears to profit from these scams, instead of refunding all associated revenues back to affected users when they belatedly take some of these down," Eleftheriou said.
Ossoff's office did not respond to a request for comment or questions about his Apple investment.

California churches wins suit against Governor Newsom's COVID-19 restrictions
Newsom is required to pay the church $1,350,000 to reimburse the costs of the suit.
A California District judge issued a statewide injunction against the COVID-19 restrictions against churches and places of worship after a California church and Gov. Gavin Newsom reached a settlement on the matter.
The injunction was issued Monday, following a settlement between Harvest Rock Church and the Democratic governor who last summer imposes restrictions on indoor activity in response to the virus pandemic, according to Pasadena Now.
"This is a momentous day for churches in America. After nearly a year-long battle defending our religious freedoms, our lawsuit has reached a permanent settlement in our favor," Pastor ChĂŠ Ahn said, according to Newsmax.
In the settlement, Newsom agreed to pay $1.35 million to reimburse the church's attorney fees and costs.
The settlement and injunction come a month after the governor lifted restrictions against church and religious gatherings, following a Supreme Court ruling that the state could not enforce the restrictions.

Fla. County Gives Illegal Immigrants Special IDs to Get Vaccines, Public Services
Floridaâs second-most populous county is the stateâs first to offer illegal immigrants identification cards so they can obtain taxpayer-funded services, including COVID-19 vaccines. Elected officials in Broward County, situated in southeast Florida with a population of about two million, unanimously passed the measure with ardent support from the countyâs top law enforcement officer, Sheriff Gregory Tony. Republican Governor Ron DeSantis appointed Tony to the elected position after suspending former Broward Sheriff Scott Israel for mishandling the 2018 shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland.
Tony won his first election in November to remain the countyâs top cop. In a social media post published by local news outlets Tony thanked Broward County. âTogether, we did this. I look forward to leading the great & hard-working people at the Broward Sheriffâs Office over the next four years as we continue to make BSO the finest law enforcement agency in Florida and an example of excellence for the nation,â Tony wrote. The sheriff fully backs the new ID cards for illegal immigrants and says they will have a positive impact on public safety, according to a local news report. Tony even wrote a letter of support to the Broward County commissioner who introduced the legislation to create the special IDs for those in the country illegally. This may seem strange considering he runs Floridaâs largest sheriffâs department with 5,400 employees, including nearly 3,000 certified deputies. âToday, Broward County has thousands of residents who lack identification for various reasons,â Sheriff Tonyâs letter to the commissioner reads. âWith the homeless, undocumented, formerly incarcerated, to elderly, these and other bureaucratically-challenged residents do not have access to many basic and vital services. The community ID will provide these residents with a way to access those services.â
Support for the special IDs from the top law enforcement official in one of its largest counties is at odds with the stateâs typically strong stance on illegal immigration. Florida is not one of the nationâs 11 states to offer illegal aliens sanctuary and no local government in the Sunshine state officially provides it either, though some have toyed with idea. Florida has also resisted a nationwide movement to provide illegal immigrants with driverâs licenses. Sixteen states along with the District of Columbia offer illegal immigrants driverâs licenses, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures. Among the states are California, New York, Oregon, Nevada, Vermont, Washington State and Connecticut. In 2020 Virginia became the latest to grant illegal aliens driving privileges. Many open borders groups have expressed concern that the information on the licenses will be shared with federal authorities.

Yoram Cohen, former chief of the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency), told KAN radio on Wednesday that he opposes returning to the same set of understandings that existed between Israel and Gaza prior to the current war, and believes that Hamas must be isolated much more aggressively.
Assuming that a âquiet for quietâ ceasefire occurs on Thursday or sooner, he would allow only very strictly defined humanitarian assistance into Gaza, including food and medicine.
Though he would not interfere with fishing and other such aspects of economic life in the coastal enclave, he would block sending in building materials of any kind.
This means he would not only oppose building materials that Hamas might use to rebuild its own bases and tunnels, but would also oppose building material to rehabilitate Gaza more broadly.
Though generally such materials are defined as humanitarian since many Gazans lost their homes, Cohenâs hope would be that this pressure would make Hamasâs rule unsustainable, without it agreeing to new compromises with Israel or the international community.
Cohen slammed the post-2014-Gaza-war process in which he said tens of thousands of international inspectors were supposed to ensure that anything that went into Gaza was not appropriated by Hamas, but the number was reduced to hundreds of inspectors to border crossing cameras and then to cameras that could not even properly oversee the issue.
Next, he said he does not believe that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was purposely trying to strengthen Hamas at the Palestinian Authorityâs expense, but that some of the policies the government has in place had in fact had this effect.
He strongly criticized Netanyahuâs policy to facilitate Qatar bringing funds to Hamas.
The basis of the policy has been to prevent an economic implosion in Gaza following the PA cutting off its funding to the terrorist group due to ongoing strife between them.
Cohen was head of the Shin Bet during the 2014 Gaza war.

OSHA drops BOMBSHELL: Employers who mandate covid vaccines may be held liable for âany adverse reactionâ
The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is warning employers that they will be held liable for any adverse events resulting from mandatory Wuhan coronavirus (Covid-19) âvaccinationâ policies.
If an employee who was forced to be injected with experimental mRNA gene therapy becomes paralyzed or dies, for instance, that injury or death will be considered âwork-related,â meaning the employer will be held responsible.
In the âFrequently Asked Questionsâ section of a new OSHA guidance that was issued on April 20, the agency explains that all employers who mandate experimental Chinese Virus shots are required to record any adverse events that result from the injections.
In response to the question, âIf I require my employees to take the COVID-19 vaccine as a condition of their employment, are adverse reactions to the vaccine recordable?â this is what OSHA says:
âIf you require your employees to be vaccinated as a condition of employment (i.e., for work-related reasons), then any adverse reaction to the COVID-19 vaccine is work-related. The adverse reaction is recordable if it is a new case under 29 CFR 1904.6 and meets one or more of the general recording criteria in 29 CFR 1904.7.â
What this means is that employers who try to force their employees to get injected are opening themselves up to lawsuits, workerâs compensation claims and a negatively impacted safety record. Tread at your own risk, employers.

U.K. Drug Traffickers Sentenced in Latest EncroChat Bust
Four users of the encrypted communications platform EncroChat have been sentenced for drug trafficking in the U.K., following a National Crime Agency (NCA) investigation stemming from the decoding of messages on the once-secured phone system.
The four, all Britons, were sentenced to a combined 12 years for conspiring to import cannabis into the U.K. from Morocco using a yacht between Feb. 29 and June 1, 2020. Authorities said the drugs were set to be distributed across the U.K.
The case formed part of the ongoing Operation Venetic, the U.K. enforcement response to the elimination of the France-based EncroChat, which provided safety features for users to store, transmit and delete sensitive messages.
Announcing the first Operation Venetic bust in July of last year, U.K. authorities described EncroChat as a âbespoke encrypted global communication service used exclusively by criminals.â
An estimated 60,000 users, including as many as 10,000 in Britain, subscribed to the platform and had access to features like self-destructing messages on customized Android phones, with subscriptions running to ÂŁ1,500 (US$2,124).
EncroChatâs archived website â the original is now offline â stated that the phones guaranteed users absolute anonymity by using two operating systems at once. If the user wanted the device to look harmless, he or she loaded up its regular Android system. If it was necessary to use secret chats, the user switched to the encrypted Encrochat system.
The platform was thought to be among the safest exchanges available, allowing criminals to share plot details. But French authorities, spotting that EncroChat phones were regularly popping up in criminal probes, began sharing information with counterparts in the Netherlands and elsewhere in 2017, France 24 reported.
Eventually, its servers were infiltrated with malware by the European policing body Europol. In July 2020, more than 746 arrests were made across Europe, with more than two tons of drugs, 77 guns and ÂŁ54 million in suspect cash seized. A statement at the time by the NCA said dozens of crime groups were taken out of action.
U.K. Metropolitan Police Commissioner Dame Cressida Dick told the BBC at the time that the bust would be a "game changer." "This is just the beginning,â she said. âWe will be disrupting organised criminal networks as a result of these operations for weeks and months and possibly years to come."

Democrat Delaware State Lawmaker Arrested For Punching Woman in the Face at Restaurant
Delaware state police arrested a Democrat state lawmaker for punching a woman in the face at a restaurant on Saturday evening.
Democrat state senator Darius J. Brown, 39, reportedly got into an argument with a woman at Taverna Rustic Italian Restaurant when he punched her in the side of the face and threw a glass of water.
State troopers arrived to the restaurant Saturday night after the 44-year-old female victim informed them she had been punched in the side of the face.
The two were reportedly arguing over a social media post when Darius Brown punched the woman and threw a glass of water which âbroke into pieces.â
Darius Brown was charged with offensive touching and disorderly conduct.

A Delaware state senator has been charged with offensive touching and disorderly conduct after police say he punched an acquaintance and threw a glass of water at a Talleyville restaurant Saturday evening.
Delaware State Police were called to Taverna Rustic Italian Restaurant on Silverside Road just before 6:30 p.m. for reports of a âdomestic altercation.â
When troopers arrived, a 44-year-old woman said she and Sen. Darius Brown, D-Wilmington, were arguing about a social media post when he punched her. He then threw the water glass, which âbroke into pieces,â police said.
Brown left the restaurant before troopers arrived. The woman âsustained some redness to the side of her face but did not require any medical attention,â police said.
Darius Brown also doesnât pay his taxes.
âIn the spring of 2018, while he was running for the District 2 seat, Brown was hit with a federal tax lien for $50,803 in unpaid income taxes from 2012 through 2016. A month later, the Delaware Division of Revenue filed a complaint in Superior Court for $9,854 in unpaid taxes and penalties from 2014 through 2016.â Delaware Online reported.
Darius Brown is violent toward women and doesnât pay his taxes. In other words, heâs a perfect Democrat.

What they havenât said is that the kids are now housed in crowded, disease spreading tent encampments at Fort Bliss.
Bidenâs abrupt reversal last January of President Trumpâs border policy blocking illegal alien migrant children from remaining in the United States due to the pandemic has caused a surge of tens of thousands of children to be smuggled by human traffickers across the border with Mexico. The Biden administration is acting as a de facto partner with the cartels by accepting and relocating the children within the U.S. Videos taken on the Texas side of the Rio Grande show law enforcement officials taking in migrants personally delivered by smugglers who then return to Mexico without being arrested to do it again and again.
The plans to expand the tent city at Fort Bliss were reported by the New York Times and CBS News. The news outlets also reported on the warehouse conditions at Fort Bliss, with one advocated quoted as saying this is worse than conditions under their hated President Trump.
