The reed poles in front of Inanna’s temple (or inside it) remind me of 2 different things:
1 – The Kuphar boats made of reed (starting page 15) which can be found on the banks on the Euphrates River.
2 – The Staff weapon. We already know that a type of Staff weapon is used by the ThunderBirds and it shoots out electricity. We also know that the Wolf and the Antelope Sebetti warriors use some type of staff as seen on the upper register of the bronze Plaque of the Hells – weapon number 5 (page 965). But we don’t know what it shoots; if it’s electricity like the Sharur or if it’s fire or anything else.
The way these reed poles are depicted in Inanna’s temple, with a knot or a circle on top makes it tricky to guess what it really is. I don’t think that knot is related to the Shenu rings but we do have loads of imagery we can compare with in this thread: Nekhbet staff page 898 – seraphim staff page 903 –cylinder seal imprint second picture page 966 – cylinder seal imprint page 967 – Hathor lotus staff second picture page 985 – Was staff page 992 etc. These are just a few examples and I’m sure we can find more if we look at older pages.
Till now, it’s unclear what these staffs specifically mean. It can be anything, from the weapon I just mentioned, to a flag pole, to simple decoration. This needs further digging.
“Inanna/Ishtar was associated with lions, which the ancient Mesopotamians regarded as a symbol of power. Her associations with lions began during Sumerian times; a chlorite bowl from the temple of Inanna at Nippur depicts a large feline battling a giant snake and a cuneiform inscription on the bowl reads "Inanna and the Serpent", indicating that the cat is supposed to represent the goddess. During the Akkadian Period, Ishtar was frequently depicted as a heavily armed warrior goddess with a lion as one of her attributes.”
>> As I already told anons before, I don’t agree with this interpretation about the Lion being a symbol of Inanna/Ishtar or the Feline being associated with her. I think the Akkadian misunderstood the meaning of her standing or sitting on a throne on top of a Lion. It has the same meaning as the Horse Lamashtu is kneeling upon in the lower register of the Bronze Plaque from Hell = the animals in both cases represent specific geographic locations as in countries = kingdoms. In other words, the Lion, which Inanna stands upon (or sits with the throne) in early stages of this iconography , is a symbolic representation of the kingdom she comes from = her place of birth = her origin – where she lived.
The inscription on the bowl – I hope I got the correct picture of the bowl – says: Inanna and the snake. It doesn’t say Inanna “fighting” the snake. Here it can be interpreted in 3 ways:
A – The Main Stream History interpretation is that Inanna in her Feline form is fighting a Serpent. Well, I guess this logical if we combine the inscription with the design on the bowl.
