In page 898, while taking a look at the Egyptian white vulture = Nekhbet, I noticed a detail called the Shen Symbol, which we are going to look at quickly, next. The reason I went down the Seraphim tunnel is because it’s linked to the second artifact (already mentioned that I will talk about 2 artifacts in page 894) with the blasters issue. It’s like a bridge between the 2 digging tunnels. I will tackle the second artifact once I finish with the Shen symbol.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shen_ring

“In ancient Egypt a shen ring was a circle with a line tangent to it, represented in hieroglyphs as a stylised loop of a rope. The word shen itself means, in ancient Egyptian, encircle, while the shen ring represented eternal protection.”

>> Notable: “shen ring represents eternal protection”.

“Shen ring use in iconography

The shen ring is most often seen carried by the falcon god Horus, but was also carried by the vulture goddess Nekhbet. It was used as early as the Third Dynasty where it can be seen in the reliefs from Djoser's Step Pyramid complex.”

>> Both Horus and Nekhbet are birds of prey = ThunderBirds.

“The symbol could be stretched to contain other objects, which were then understood as being eternally protected by the shen ring. In its elongated form the shen ring became the cartouche, which enclosed and protected a royal name.

• The Goddess Heqet, (the 'Frog'), is often seated on a shenu.

• For Eternity, the renpit, papyrus stalk is usually based on top of a Shen ring. See the Egyptian god Huh. (Senusret I has a famous Lintel relief showing this.)

• The shen ring is often attached to various types of staffs, the staff of authority, or power, symbolizing the Eternal authority of that power.

• The Goddess Isis, and the Goddess Nekhbet are often shown kneeling, with their hands resting upon a shenu.

• The Hawk (Horus), and the Vulture (Goddess Mut) have the shenu in their talons, wings outstretched, over the scene portrayed. The "Horus with Outstretched Wings", shenus in its talons, is an example from the Louvre of a Pectoral Brooch, possibly for royalty.

Outside of Egypt, a Tartessian archaeological site, Cancho Roano in southern Spain, has a shen ring shaped altar.”

>> That was pretty short and dry. I want more information.

“At first glance, the shen resembles a circle with a perpendicular line tangent to its bottom part. However, when looked at closely, it is a stylized loop of rope with both ends tied together yet still visible. It often has a sun disc at the center of the ring signifying the eternity of creation (as the sun is the believed to be the source of life). Its name is from the Egyptian word shenu that literally means to encircle. Like its elongated form, the cartouche, the shen or shen ring symbolizes infinity and eternity. Similarly, it also functions as a protective device when it is clutched by humans, deities and royalties.”

>> I’m unsure about the explanation given about the Shenu being a symbol of eternity or infinity. I do agree however about it having the function of a protective device. These words fit perfectly.

“The shen is often associated with deities, especially in bird forms, who are seen clutching it. It seen held by Horus in his falcon form and Nekhbet in her vulture form while hovering about the pharaoh protecting him. It may also be seen with Isis as extension of her protective functions on the king. Mut, another vulture goddess, may also be seen grasping the shen in her talons. Hequet may also be seen sitting on the shen. However, the most prominent deity associated with it is the primordial god Huh, who represented and personified infinity and eternity. It is often seen in his sun disc crown popular even until the New Kingdom. It may also be found on the base of the notch palm branches Huh usually holds.”

>> Every single one of them is a ThunderBird.

“The shen is often seen in jewelries like pendants, earrings, rings and even necklaces as a decorative aspect especially in the Middle Kingdom. It is also fairly common in amulets. The shen may also be found in coffins as sarcophagi often seen held by a goddess kneeling on the glyph for gold. During the 26th dynasty and onwards, even mummies of commoners were protected with uninscribed cartouches or shens. The most common materials used for these shens are dark hard stones like diorites and basalt, lapis lazuli. Some had tadpole hieroglyphs that were often used as numerals signifying the number of years the ruling king hoped his life and reign would extend.

The symbolism of shen is evident even in other beliefs and religions as well. It is somewhat similar and related to the Gnostic ouroborus, the wedding rings of Western culture, and the yin-yang of Chinese culture.”

>> I disagree. The Shenu ring has nothing to do with the Ourobouros, the wedding rings and the Yin-Yang. It’s a wrong interpretation. Not because it looks like a loop or ring to us, it means it really is. I think the Shenu ring is some type of weapon held by the ThunderBirds
