The spirit in the tree in the Gilgamesh cycle
Samuel Noah Kramer (1932, published 1938) translated ki-sikil-lil-la-ke as Lilith in "Tablet XII" of the Epic of Gilgamesh dated c. 600 BC. "Tablet XII" is not part of the Epic of Gilgamesh, but is a later Assyrian Akkadian translation of the latter part of the Sumerian Epic of Gilgamesh. The ki-sikil-lil-la-ke is associated with a serpent and a zu bird. In Gilgamesh, Enkidu, and the Netherworld, a huluppu tree grows in Inanna's garden in Uruk, whose wood she plans to use to build a new throne. After ten years of growth, she comes to harvest it and finds a serpent living at its base, a Zu bird raising young in its crown, and that a ki-sikil-lil-la-ke made a house in its trunk. Gilgamesh is said to have killed the snake, and then the zu bird flew away to the mountains with its young, while the ki-sikil-lil-la-ke fearfully destroys its house and runs for the forest. Identification of ki-sikil-lil-la-ke as Lilith is stated in Dictionary of Deities and Demons in the Bible (1999). According to a new source from late antiquity, Lilith appears in a Mandaic magic story where she is considered to represent the branches of a tree with other demonic figures that form other parts of the tree, though this may also include multiple "Liliths".”
>> I do not remember where, but I did mention before that the intention of Inanna to carve a new throne might be hinting to the COUP. So the Serpent in this story was killed by Gilgamesh, it fits with my idea that the Evil One was killed sometime, somewhere after he murdered the King of kings. We’ve also seen this in the movie Beautiful Creatures when Lena sees the sad love story of her ancestor Genevieve, when her “beloved” Ethan was killed and she became cursed to “save” him = bring him back to life. Same idea in Legend (1985), when Darkness is killed but he retains his spiritual form. I bet if I look more deeply into it, I will find this idea in many Hollywood movies. I mean it’s looking more and more than the Evil One was killed sometime after the death of the King of king. In the end, Evil doesn’t pay.
It’s not that clear but the Zu bird seems to be special and it flew away with its young towards a mountains. The easiest and fastest way to reach some mountains is to go upstream Euphrates via rowing and reach the South-Eastern Taurus mountain chain. It’s quicker and easier to get there, then to join a caravan towards the West where the other mountain ranges are = Mount-Lebanon & Anti-Lebanon. If they go to the West, it would take them at least a couple of weeks if not more to reach the mountains, but if they go rowing upstream Euphrates, they will reach it within a few short days.
From the sound of it, it seems the Zu bird and its young are fleeing. When you are running away = fleeing, you take the shortest road to safety, not the longest and most hazardous one. This is why I’m saying they went upstream Euphrates and sought refuge in the South-Eastern Taurus mountain range.
Multiple Lilith seems to refer to multiple demons or should I say multiple multi-morphs. It’s understandable how such armors = the multi-morphs, might look like demons to normal humans since they are made of a mixture of animals = the heraldic animals of the other clans. I bet if I ran into one, for real, I would also think it’s a demon or a monster.
I’ve been also wondering if Inanna isn’t the Evil Lady. Lilith might be her descriptive but it’s not her name for sure. And we know that Inanna has other names and she is very sexualized, lustful lady. She fits well with the descriptive of the Evil Lady.
